I got the same color earlier this year, I already own an original and the OLED variant but it’s just nice to play certain games on the Lite model. Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Princess Peach Showtime (planning on buying it soon), Super Mario Maker 2, Zelda BOTW and Tears of The Kingdom are games I recommend that are valid with the vouchers.
@strongestzard Nice! Thanks for the suggestions! Resisting temptation on the OLED but now I'm hearing 2025 for the new consoles...that might make me cave on getting one haha
I've owned the original switch model for a few years now but just this week bought a few switch lites on the second hand market.
I think its a great time to buy a switch lite; they have definitely come down in price a bit on the second hand market and you can get them for dirt cheap if you're willing to do some light repairs like replacing joysticks and shells (lots of kids have beaten on lots of switch lites lol).
I bought them because my kids are just getting to the age where I would trust them not to break them and I also wanted one for myself because I heard an OLED mod is going to be available soon that adds video out capability as well.
Even if a switch successor comes out that is backwards compatible, having a cheaper option to take on the go, especially for kids, and leaving the new fancy model at home sounds like a plan to me. Plus it will likely be a few years before another lite model becomes available and they wont hit the secondary market at decent prices for even longer than that.
@jayjayhooksch1 Thanks for the comment! This is great info and perspective. Was it pretty easy to do the light repairs? Seems like it might not be too hard to open it up and replace parts.
@@brandonontech joysticks and parts replacement isn't too bad if you follow a video guide. You just need patience and organization; it's easy to lose track of which screws go where, you need something like an ice cube tray for screws and some labels (painters tape w/marker) the first couple times you muck about inside there. Most joystick/shell/battery kits even come with the screwdrivers or other tools (pry bar, double-sided tape, etc) you need.
One of my lites is having issues with draining while in sleep mode, so I'm going to attempt to learn how to replace a chip that I think might be the problem. This kind of repair is a lot more involved, you need special tools (desolder station) and I'm not sure it's worth it in my case; I don't have the experience or the tools and the switch works fine other than needing to power it down after each use instead of putting it to sleep. However, I'm looking at it as a hobby and a way to learn some new skills.
@jayjayhooksch1 Sounds like a fun project! I love cracking open gadgets and taking a peak inside. Like you said, patience and organization is key!
I love ❤ all of my Nintendo Switch consoles 😊
@cpop9275 I love the portability of the lite. I've been thinking about an OLED but it would probably be used primarily on our TV
@@brandonontech I love my oled Nintendo switch I probably used on my tv only
@cpop9275 Good to know! I think we'd enjoy having an OLED connected to our TV
My Nintendo switch lite is turquoise color my favourite color
I got blue which now seems pretty boring. I actually like the yellow one!
Ive got few weeks ago lite and im more than happy. I know soon there will be new nintedo etc but - first of all i would never pay that much money for console. Second as single young adult lady who live in small Flat without TV i would not use the switch option. I think little lite is perfect option for me.
@spacegirlproduction9506 Thanks for the comment! The portability of the Lite is great! I've considered the OLED but really like the compact size of the Lite. What's your favorite game to play?
@@brandonontech well its been 2 weeks since i have bouth mine - so for now only Animal crossing with DLC - but i sure will get one day Mario kart and splatoon. Apparently games arent that cheap
@spacegirlproduction9506 Yeah, the games are expensive! I started with a Miyoo Mini Plus and retro games. A bit of sticker shock going to a Switch with the hardware and game prices!
I have the original switch ,lite and oled
@cpop9275 Nice collection. Do you recommend the OLED over the original switch?
i use the switch lite i bought it from ebay second hand For £109 and its definitely is a great little device 😁
@lindsycashmore2768 Awesome! Yeah, great time to pick one up
