@camp0017 Thanks for the comment! Upnote was a nice app. I'm trying to remember why I didn't stick with it. I think it was cause, at the time, I like Bear better. Seems like everyone has been moving off Evernote lately due to the price increase. Shame cause it used to be an awesome notes app

@Bruceneuman Well said! For me, I love the form factor of the iPad and touchscreen. It's nice to just grab and go. I wish the Smart Keyboard didn't add as much weight as it does. There are still things I would rather do on my Mac so, like you, I find myself grabbing different devices throughout the day. Thanks for watching!

@user-nu2lh6xc9f I don't have the older Smart Keyboard so I'm not sure if the M4 would work with it. But, I'm pretty sure it won't. The magnets are different on the M4 so the older accessories don't seem to work right with the M4

@chemicaliiz Thanks for the comment! I've got an M2 folio and it doesn't fit on the M4. The M4 won't even "stick" to the M2 folio.

I wish it can work..dimensions are almost same..magnet position has to be the only concern. Need to try one.

@81179venky Yeah, it’s really close. You might be able to position it to work but it won’t fit as well as the M4. I tried my M2 and it wasn’t sitting right.

@@brandonontech I guess the magnets in the M4 are aligned differently to give the extra angles on the new case.

@81179venky Yup. Love the viewing angles but it's a bummer that it doesn't work with older iPads.

@andrewhodgson2673 Great question! They're pretty strong. They don't move easily. I think in my quick video here, you can even see me trying to move it with one hand and it was not easy to do

@shaunmccarthy5449 Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I’ve got a Samsung phone and did a video about using notes on it. It does work really well and has a lot of the same features but I found collaboration to not be as good as Apple Notes. It is one of the better Android note apps though!

@kinglightskin3984 Thanks for the comment. Happy to try and help out. So, you open the watch app on your iPhone. You go into Action Button. For Action, you select Shortcut. You back out of that and then see Shortcut below and what is there? What shows in the list when you tap there under Shortcut? You should see a list of at least some shortcuts available. Is that correct?

@@brandonontech when I select shortcut on the watch, what I set up on the phone isn’t there. All it says is, What’s a shortcut? Shazam shortcut Take a break

@kinglightskin3984 Okay. Try this...On your phone, go into Shortcuts. Find your shortcut and tap the circle with 3 dots. Then, at the bottom, click on the information icon. Under the details tab, you'll see show on Apple Watch. That will, hopefully, be turned off. Turn it on and you should be good!

@@brandonontech thanks for responding. I’ve tried this, and still nothing. I’m sure there’s something I’m doing wrong, but I truly don’t know what it is. I feel it may be that I’m not setting up the shortcut correctly. But even when I watch videos and follow instructions to the T, it isn’t working

@frankiesimsart Thanks for the comment and well said! Great use case for Apple Notes! Love that you use it for drawings too. Do you use any other drawing apps? Have you tried the Astropad Rock Paper Pencil or some other screen protector to get a more paper feel on your iPad?

@jaiudotnet Exactly. When you're using the native app, you get benefits that other third party apps can't deliver. Yes, Notes does have some shortcomings but, if you're okay with that, it's really powerful. Thanks for watching!

@robhuff46 Ahh, good point! Kinda makes me think of an earlier comment about Notes being a pet project for Apple. You'd think they'd have an Apple Watch app to at least sync voice notes. I tried Notebook when it first came out but it didn't have much at the time. Might be worth checking that one out again!

@jeffreypatterson552 Agreed! Bear is the only other app that sways me from Notes these days. Good callouts on web clipper and export formats!

@GT-ho6co OneNote is pretty nice too! Probably some good integration there with other Office apps. Google has also stepped up their game with collab features but I think Google Keep isn't as good as OneNote. Thanks for the comment!

@@brandonontech it’s got good integration but honestly if I could just get to my Apple notes on Windows I’d be happy. OneNote is great but sometimes I made a note in Apple Notes and would just like to be able to read it or copy from it.

@GT-ho6co I hear ya. About the only thing I can think of is signing into your iCloud in Windows and bringing up notes that way. 🤷🏽‍♂️

@@brandonontech well its been 2 weeks since i have bouth mine - so for now only Animal crossing with DLC - but i sure will get one day Mario kart and splatoon. Apparently games arent that cheap

@spacegirlproduction9506 Yeah, the games are expensive! I started with a Miyoo Mini Plus and retro games. A bit of sticker shock going to a Switch with the hardware and game prices!

@dragje Thanks for watching and the comment! Notion is great as a sort of build-it-yourself note taking app. Sounds like the AI add-on is making it even better! It would be cool if you could ask Siri AI to do your request and add "in notes" and just have it all done. You never know what WWDC is gonna bring!

@@brandonontech I think Apple is still testing the water on Notes, they obviously don't take the product very seriously as the slow simple incremental updates get added just to appease the masses. Another issue I have with it is based upon this premise... what if they dump the product?

@marcrjacobs I'd be really surprised if they just dumped it all together but if they did, I'd probably go back to Bear. I already bounce between them but have settled on Notes...for now haha

@@brandonontech I like Bear too, but remember Apple dumped Aperture and they made a lot of money on it, it was a very expensive app in it's day but they sold the heck out of it. For me, tables are absolutely critical and I've been in OneNote for years now, because my family wants the Microsoft Office 365 suite and OneNote is free and works well in the Mac and iOS world (not to mention is has useful tables). I tried Obsidian, but don't like how the photos, etc, are stored separate from the markdown. On the other hand Bear does hold them together, but I wonder if that will be a problem if you ever need to get out of it. Tried Craft and WAY too proprietary of a structure, and would never pay the current price for Evernote. Just can't find a good way out of OneNote with great tables and a clean non-proprietary structure. The longer I'm in OneNote the hard it will be to get out, because it's a manual process as none of the importers work properly.

@eightwheels Thanks for the comment! Obsidian is a great app but I just couldn't get into it. I actually preferred Notion over Obsidian at the time. There are some great features apps like Obsidian, Notion and others bring to the table. Glad to hear Obsidian is working out for you! Have you tried Notion or any others before settling on Obsidian?

I've never dived into Apple Mail because I like how Spark can color coordinate my different email accounts in the preview. Fantastical has always been my go-to but maybe I should check Calendar again? Bear is a fantastic app as well. It's so easy to share reminders and notes with my wife using the default apps. She's been a good sport though when I've tried Things and Todoist haha I'm hoping for some good things with Apple apps and iOS 18!

@Bruceneuman Thanks for the comment! Yeah, it's an interesting device, isn't it? It's super compact but at the same time, if you're using it, you might wonder why you're not just using your phone. And then, if you've got an 11" iPad and maybe a MacBook Air, you'd probably opt for the MacBook over the iPad because iPad OS still lacks some things that are just easier on MacOS. Guess they all have specific niche markets. I'm surprised you weren't using your mini more cause that sounds like the perfect use case. Were you using it with an Apple Pencil for notes?

@Bruceneuman Thanks for the comment! How are you liking e-ink so far? I tried a Scribe but found the software to not be quite there yet. I'm sure it's improved since I last tried it. Have you thought about a Rock, Paper, Pencil from Astropad for your iPad? I've got a couple videos on m channel about it. It's so nice taking handwritten notes on my iPad with it. Have you thought about using a Shortcut to import your handwritten notes into Apple Notes? You might be doing that already but just something that went through my head as you were describing your workflow.

@hoboesque_ Thanks for the comment! Yeah, that's a good point on the mindmap feature. I haven't used Anytype but have tried Obsidian. Never really got into mindmaps but know a lot of people who love them. That kind of feature would definitely take Apple Notes to another level! Sounds like you're using Anytype exclusively now? I'll have to check that app out!

@Padygy Interesting. What is the scenario you were thinking of that you'd want to use AirPlay and Stage Manager? I just tried it out and was watching a video on my TV using AirPlay. At the same time, I used Stage Manager on my iPad. Something like that?

@@brandonontech yea, instead of using a hardwire connection to the external display, use AirPlay instead for stage manager.

@Padygy Got it. From my testing, I think you'd have to use a hardwire connection. AirPlay will just let you shoot one thing over to the monitor/TV and then you'd need a hardwire connection to a monitor to really use Stage Manager
