There is one thing that you miss: When you play as Dimitri Petrenko, in Vendetta mission, Reznov' status as Sniper will change to be Submachine Gunner since Reznov has a wound that makes him no longer use sniper rifle

I finished modern warfare 2 original, modern warfare 2 remastered, ghosts on veteran difficulty and the other call of duty games I don't finish on veteran difficulty.
Was actually pretty easy aside from unlimited grenade stacking AI. Your Veteran COD bots only aim about as well as the average silver in counterstrike tbh

The Japanese Officers wearing glasses in the later stages of the US Marine campaign represents how near the tail end of the war the Japanese loosened the standards for Officers. Initially those with poor physiology were barred.
There were also cut Volkssturm models in the game that were to be used during the Berlin sections of the Red Army campaign, which would reflect Reznov’s statement in the mission cutscene about Germany sending the old, the young and the weak to fight.
I can’t believe I never noticed the sun thing, though.
After Chernov's death, Reznov change his heart.
Just a detail that I heard about but I never managed to confirm: I heard that in one of the missions in the Pacific (don't remember the name, the one when you clear out bunkers with a flamethrower), there are some "Japanese soldiers" that actually speak Indonesian. This is a detail that calls out the fact that, during the Japanese Imperialist war in Asia, some people from occupied territories were conscripted to the Japanese Army (and, looking at their Human Rights' Record, maybe with not the most kind methods).

3:49 There's three total events that can change Chernov's diary entry at the beginning of Downfall. The first is on Vendetta, where towards the end of the level if you expose your position and provide sniper support for your comrades below, Reznov will scold you but it'll trigger the first "good" event. The second is on Their Land, Their Blood when sparing the German soldiers that took you captive. The third is shown at 3:55.
There's another. On the same level as the one as 3:55, when the building falls down there are wounded, but alive Germans. If you let the friendly AI kill them, it helps with Chernovs view of Dimitri

I replayed this last week for the first time in maybe 10 years. What a brilliant game, surprised there's been no remaster yet.
They will never remaster this game and if they did it would be very politically correct.

Crazy to think the same company that published this in 2008 is one of the most hated and greediest companies in 2023. You either die a hero, or live long enough to become the villain.
What a masterpiece of a game, showing WW2 in an authentic and realistic way. Shame it never got remastered.

It was a very good idea to include the pacific theatre of WW2. Not only had cod not done it at the time, let alone a lot of WW2 shooters ever since, but it changed the type of combat by how the Japanese behave and their tactics are more Barbaric than the Germans.
I once knew a ww2 veteran. But when I asked him about it. He ignored me in a nervous way. 😓
When I was a kid I found the old photos of a bunch of people doing weird raised arm gestures and my grandfather was doing it too in that photo. When I asked him he said they were nazis doing their salute and he raised his arm and said STOP GUYS WAIT A MINUTE DON'T DO IT to them but unfortunately they were all photographed at that very moment so it looked like he was saluting too, even smiling. What a wholesome man 😅

I feel a lot of modern games are missing small details. I've lost count of the number of modern games where you can't even shoot the lights out, tyres out of cars etc
Two things I noticed when I last played. One was that if you throw a Molotov into a puddle or water flowing from the ceiling it would get snuffed out and wouldn’t explode and the bottle would still be there.
Second thing is how the Germans in Berlin are covered in more bloody bandages and have more unorganised uniforms. In that you get the idea that the soldiers are grabbing whatever was left around and was in better condition or to hide their SS affiliation (if the individual wasn’t as devoted to the furher and wanted to live), officer ranks or even if they where medics since in the east medics where prized targets for both sides.

Another detail is that towards the end of the game the German soldiers will be seen with bandages but still fighting showing how they needed everyone to fight even the wounded

Veteran difficulty was a nightmare.
Motor fire sounded too realistic and scary.
WaW was the darkest CoD game we got. Even women and children crying can be heard in the game on parts of some levels.
I just finished watching a walkthrough of this game , the timing is perfect man.

When you’re playing veteran the enemies have 3d printers because they throw 5 grenades at a time
The death of Chernov is the saddest in the game for me :'( You can clearly see how Reznov doesn't give a single fvck about him, takes his diary and just runs upstairs 😭
Reznov does care about him though. Chernov is the only soldier he sticks with (except Petrenko) and directly speaks to the entire time. He criticizes Chernov writing a diary ("No one will ever read this!") yet once Chernov is dying he takes the diary and says "Someone should read this". And since Chernov can still be heard gasping it's likely he heard what Reznov said.
And what did you want him to do?make a funeral for him in the middle of combat?

This game is still fun to play in 2023, only problem is when you play on Xbox ONE, it won't let you download DLC maps and when you play online multiplayer, it will kick you out the lobby when these maps are chosen.

also in multiplayer you can de-track the tanks if you shoot them enough the tracks will break and the tank won’t move
