OC Animatic - Jackdawgale & Talontail - Above The Clouds Of Pompeii

Nightfall was lost to maternal death as Jackdawkit was born. His older sister, Talonkit, never blamed him for it and instead took on a very protective and supportive role as they grew up together.
Their parents loved each other immensely and although Coalclaw was heartbroken, Talonkit was the most affected and she was never fully the same after that day. She and her mother had the tradition of bringing each other harebell flowers during any special event to wish one luck and show their love.
The final scenes show the same incident that's teased in "Is It Cold Outside" which also killed Ashkit's parents & Shadowfern (next bigger project to be revealed)

Here's another project I've had in mind for a while and I really wanted it published before the next bigger project. I love this family and exploring their story and how it impacted them. Despite their awful actions towards Crowsong as well as being side characters they've become very fleshed out with their own stories to give them depth.

This is what I love about the Corvidclan story. It could be so easy to paint everyone except Crowsong as a villain. But by having each cat with their own story to tell - their own family dynamics and history - the tragedy of their fates becomes not only more tragic, but more complicated. No one is all good or bad; they're products of their upbringing, their own personal tragedies, the beliefs held by their elders, and by the clan. Gorgeous work as always. Xx
YAAASSSSS I read all about corvidclan and their backstories makes me wish they could have lived- Not because they didn't deserve it, I just found them way too interesting to remain dead; All of them are so cool that I can't choose a favorite.

I feel that if Corvidclan wasn’t so horrible to Crowsong as a whole, she and Talontail would have been best friends. In her Toyhouse details, it’s revealed that even though she still bullied Crow, she was the only one in the clan that thought she was beautiful and admired her pelt.
Yeah well even though she secretly admits Crowsong is generally prettier than her, Talontail still rotten enough to constantly put Crowsong down and praise herself solely because she’s jealous. Jealousy in friendships don’t tend to be good things.

That’s why I said if Crowsong wasn’t treated so horribly by the clan as a whole. If she wasn’t, Talontail would have been different towards her. She wouldn’t need to be jealous, and would instead be her friend. This probably would have began with jealousy when they were kits, but by the time they’re adults, they would have been genuine friends.
@@mysticmoonwolf1301I do agree with you, but I feel if the clan as a whole(or just Talon) was better Talontail would turn her jealousy into admiration and determination to let herself see her looks in the same way as she sees Crow's or work herself towards that(in a healthy way ofc)! I do that with my art, I get jealous of how amazing my friends styles and pieces are, but I turn it into admiration and determination! I just love Talon and I believe if the clan weren't horrible she would be one of Crows friends.

I really like the fact that each member of the clan is gradually revealed.
the pain of everyone's suffering is also shown, that everyone experienced something bad and that they are all NOT EVIL in the flesh.
Things are not black and white. They still bullied and abused the crap out of Crowsong. Their sorrow does not excuse their cruel actions.
And just as sorrow does not excuse their actions, sorrow does not excuse Crowsong (though the dreams she recieved did play a big part in it)
@@autumngalix4616 Imo Crow is a bit more excused. Would you forgive a person rebelling against their extremely religious family who bullied and abused them over them not having the same beliefs? No. I can forgive Crowsong for her acts. She didn't kill other cats outside the clan for fun, she just wanted to put an end to the abuse she endured.

Yes, but we musn't forget that Crowsong still did something extremely bad. As I see it, there's a difference between rebelling and murder, even if it seemed like the only reasonable solution in Crow's mind.
Talonkit's little "mom" makes my heart ache every time 😭
I feel like it'd be so easy to make Crowsong the equivalent of "poor baby" and everyone else being heartless and ~evil~ but I love that these characters have, as you said, depth to them. Crowsong did unspeakable things and its acknowledged, her father had a crappy childhood but it doesnt excuse his behavior as an adult, even "good" CorvidClan characters were still at least accepting of Crowsong's treatment. I love that these guys aren't all evil, it doesn't excuse what they did to the protagonist but it's awesome how you make us feel for them regardless!
0:05 Can I point out the genius of having the phrase “Too young to understand” overlaying the deceased cat that looks like she’s sleeping? Like, that would be a child’s first perspective of death- sleeping, because they wouldn’t really have any frame of reference for what death looks like.

I love the way you do dynamic storytelling coupled with absolutely lovely artwork and awesome songs.
While Jackdawgale was mostly innocent in Crowsong’s mental torture, Talontail was not, but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t capable of kindness-of love. Talontail was “human” just like the rest of us. She screwed up and became a villain in another’s story, but she was a positive force in others’. She, like all the others, while being cruel were also fed ill-conceived beliefs from the time they were young that cats like Crowsong were dangerous and bad omens.
Jackdawgale has always been a favorite recurring character in these, I’m so glad to see both him and Talontail get their own animatic. In another life things could’ve been so different for them and Crow… love this piece!!!!

I always love stories that depicts the "bad people" as real people. I think it makes for a great, engaging story, but it also can hint toward a life lesson. The toxic or abusive people in our lives are not stereotypical cartoon villain abusers; they are *real people* and many people can relate to their experiences. Often times, that is how victims can get caught in the cycle of justifying their abusers...
It's wonderful to have stories like this that remind us how people can potentially be complex, and having the power to explore these concepts in characters of all shapes or sizes can make us so much more thoughtful.
I am SOOO excited for the future projects for this clan! This story is so well crafted!
Tbh "cartoon villains" aren't all that unrealistic, either. There's some rotten people who would walk over their mother's corpse to achieve what they want, we see this every day. Some people only care about themselves. Not everyone is morally grey and still has some good in them. Many people don't.
the nuance of cordvidclan members in their personalities and backstories is tackled so well, they are all different but still feel very intertwined with one another. it has such a nice flow and balance to it all, nothing feels forced. your portrayal of emotions is so on point (storytelling&artwise)!!
Something I can’t help but notice is the way that Talonkit whispers “Mom…”
She seems so much more confused through her sorrow while her father weeps. From the beginning of their lives, Jackdawgale and Talontail lost their mother, and later on, their father. It was their bond with one another that kept them going, you can see just how much they rely on one another from the final scene.
This animatic really shows just how well Louixie crafted this clan and it’s warriors. Rather than portraying every cat as evil towards Crowsong, everyone has their own lives, love, and pain to show. Despite how they treated her, they had their own lives and importance once you can see their lives in a pure, independent perspective. I adore every bit of this story in Corvidclan, and I’m so happy to see this work of art. Thank you, Louixie!
Part of me feels a bit somber thinking that Talontail and jackdawgale would at least sympathize with Crowsong when Weepingwind passed as well, but alas things are different.

It’s easy to assume that all of CorvidClan is evil, but seeing this proves that all of them are still acts with personality and backstory. Some of the cats were just misguided by previous cats-they were taught that having white fur was bad. Most of the cats aren’t evil at all. It doesn’t make what they did to Crowsong any better, but it’s still a comforting thought.
Evil is not black and white though. The sorrow in someone's life does not excuse any cruel action, even Crowsong's.
You nailed the expressions you can just tell how much talonkit and coalclaw hurt from losing such an important thing to them, and the fact you can tell that talonkit took the role of protector for jackdawkit without having to read the description is so awesome. Normally when I watch oc animatics I’m always confused and I have to read the description of the video so I understand it, but this I could understand right away your storytelling is incredible and I hope you keep it up 😁
My prediction is in "Is It Cold Outside" Crowsong had a vision of loss coming to their clan because of her light fur (the eyes looking at her and Crowsong standing on white snow while all the rest is black). But I think that Starclan is actually punishing Corvidclan for the way they are treating Crowsong. Either way, Starclan is sending a punishment which I think is a coyote or wolf that kills four warriors: Coalclaw, Sootspot, Smokeviel, and Shadowfern. This is because of the creature behind Crowsong at the end of the PMV. It is a warning from Starclan of what is yet to come (Crowsong's massacre) but I imagine the clan will see it as a punishment for keeping Crowsong alive and they will treat her worse after the event.
Oh NOOOOOOOO you made me cry and feel bad for Crow's bullies LOL but omg i love Talon even more now. Its so sad that she was so close to her mother. It's really nice that she didn't blame Jackdaw and was a good sister to him. But i have to say my favorite part of this is Coal's face when hes talking to his kittens. He's devastated but trying to stay strong for them. Im curious about Jackdaw's face tho, does he blame himself even tho no one blames him for his mothers death? Anyways, i love the sort of sketchier look to this. Its very nice! I look forward to more of these. I dunno if you saidbwhos next but im here for it!

Talontail is a very good character, a really pretty character
she can be very villainized and shown without empathy, but she has done quite a lot of good things, she took care of her little brother, children, etc. quite well and was very empathetic
I actually think the only mistake she made was bullying Crowsong, and her only real crime was being mean to Ashkit.
I adore Jackdawgale's eyes. Its very cool that his varied emotions are still very clear despite them, with your impressive style.
I’ve watched this a few times now, and it really makes me think about how before Crowsong, they where just a normal clan. I mean, yes they had some beliefs that became harmful, but for generations and generations they where just a clan of cats who where probably all just trying their best to survive and protect their loved ones.
I am a simple woman. I see a new video from Louixie, I watch it even if it was hours later.

I was just doing another reading on Nightfall when I saw this video and watched it. Oh my Goodness was it beautifully well-drawn and well-written through the art, might I add! Beautiful, somber, and just a hint of a slice of life and tragedy.
I swear, the stories behind the characters keep getting better and better.

I think of that highly to be what makes you unique to me, Louixie. You do so much on them, characterising them and showing that yes, they're human, that they were just taught differently, and that still won't excuse their treatment of Crowsong.
Ahhh can I say that Talontail, Jackdawgale, Coalclaw and Nightfall (She is a spirit that watches over her family and is still with them and that is a hill I WILL die on) are my favourite family now!? Dang it and I thought Omensky's family would've been my favourite! Lol
Talontail being the best big sister to Jackdawgale forever is in my heart ❤️ Both 0:24 and 0:26 - Sleeping together, Talonkit showing Jackdawkit about the world perhaps or even a bit of flowers
My new headcanon being that Nightfall was interested in floriography and wanted to pass on those teachings onto her children :')
0:29 and 0:31 I can guess their body language and faces! - Talonpaw and Jackdawpaw playing or training, Talonpaw being a teasing older sister and Jackdawpaw being the grumpy little brother who ain't happy at getting pinned. Yet it's well-meaning. Ahhh them racing! Jackdawpaw having a little smile on his face as he looks to his elder sister, who has quite the smile and warmth in her eyes!
Yesssss more Coalclaw content!! I'm loving this old man even more! 0:34 Him being soft and 0:35 making it clear to his kids to hold their heads up high, the lights in his eyes highlighting the somber yet pride he has for his children and who they'll become!
0:38 Talonpaw being happy at the "She would want you to" really setting in the fact that she hopes to one day honour her mother's memory
0:40 Aww Jackdawpaw looks uncertain, perhaps thinking about her with somber yet taking in what his father's saying
💔💔💔 The day Coalclaw died. Talonpaw/Talontail's face as she has to yet go through another heartbreaking tragedy of her family and Jackdawpaw/Jackdawgale's face as he experiences the loss of his father 😢 I cannot help but think this is the first time he full on expresses how he feels onscreen (To me, oof)
And them hugging each other at the tragedy!
0:52 and onwards has to seal the deal for me in this being one of the best story ever ❤ Nightfall and Coalclaw being together again and having the wings of a corvid bird on them! And the wee nose kiss!

I love how you develop your characters in a way that shows their good qualities instead of just making the opposing characters hateable. It makes it so much harder to take sides. I love it!

I love this so much! I’ve always liked both Talontail and Jackdawgale (especially Jackdawgale) but now this just pushes them right to the top. I love the harebells too! I don’t know if this was meant but if I’m correct harebells signify humility, submission, and grief. I just found that little bit interesting and very cool. Anyway, I love how all these characters are well-developed and have stories and reasons behind how they acted (even if it was terrible and unforgivable to make Crowsong’s life torture). This is just pure gold in animation/art and story!
Man it’s really sad seeing them lose their mom, and then the moment their dad starts to encourage them to stay strong and move on, they lose him too.
I really loved Jackdawgale when he was introduced and I feel like this made me love Talontail just as much! It’s amazing to see all these complex characters be fleshed out and see more of their own lives outside of how they interacted with Crowsong who I adore as well. I really loved how when Coalclaw talked about their mom with them,Jackdawgale turned away and lowered his head after the lyrics mentioning his mom wanting him to hold his head high 😭 It’s so amazing how you are able to express these character’s emotions and tell such an amazing story! Can’t wait to see more about these guys and the rest of your OCs ☺️
This is so cute and sad, I love when people share more story about secondary characters of their story! It feels more realistic. And also to see something more apart from Crowsong's point of view. I cant wait to see that mentioned battle in the description!
i love the lore of all the corvidclan members so much, even though many of them did awful things none are really cartoonishly evil, all having their own wants and things they care about that feel genuine. None of it excuses what some did, but you can understand why the situation with Crowsong became what it did, like with Raveneye’s upbringing and his childhood incident leading to his overzealous belief in his clan’s old morals and his closed off emotions. It’s said a lot, but all of them do feel like the protagonists of their own stories. Even the ones that are bit more hateable (cant think of a better word sorry) like carrioncall are still entertaining, sometimes they remind me of people irl.

I have to say, I was never a fan of TalonTail (but to be honest I always liked JackdawGale), but now seeing the pain they passed made me feel more attached to them, their story is really tragic indeed.

First of all, Louixie, how are your OC’s so beautifully made, and their stories are so well-written??? HOW? Second of all, i love how in Crow’s perspective, many of these cats (including Jackdaw and Talon) were evil and bullies, but in Talon’s and Jackdaw’s perspective, when you take a look at their backstory, it’s hard to believe these cats were mean, especially what they went through. It makes me see that some of these cats aren’t all-evil when you take a closer look. And third of all, I am coming to ask you a million questions about your style.

Listen, I _know_ he's a bully, but I really like Jackdawgale for some reason. It's those bigass irises of his, I'm sure of it. And I was wondering if Nightfall was their ancestor since she also has those + if he was related to "that cat in the You're Gonna Go Far Kid AMV" since they had similar marks. Turns out I was right.
You're doing such a great job laying out the layers for the more antagonistic figures of Crowsong's story, that's really amazing!! You're giving them depth. Oh, and also, thank you so much for not making Talonkit blame Jackdawkit for their mother's death, that one is truly A Trope that grows tiring after seeing it so many times. Glad to see they are a trouble duo

This just makes Talontail's actions towards Crowsong even worse. Along with Jackdawgale. Like her, he has a disability that's entirely outside his control. And instead of being understanding towards her, he and his sister just go along with everyone else and bullies, harasses, invalidates her very existence, just because she's a white cat among cats who think black pelts are supreme.
I'm not sure how I feel about the lore in this world where cats only go to the Dark Forest if they truly feel they belong there, because that would then mean that Crowsong felt she deserved the Dark Forest, along with Ashkit, when NO ONE else even felt slightly guilty for what they did....and still went to StarClan. It's so unfair.
if I remember right Jackdawgale didn’t really participate in the bullying like the other cats, he just didn’t like interacting with her because looking at her messed up his visibility a lot. Not to say that he shouldn’t have defended her or anything

@@TheRibottoStudios Well to be fair, it’s either follow or get outcasted by the clan, we see Weepingwind, Crowsong’s mother get outcasted bcs she gave birth to an albino, so who’s to say the cats that treat Crow nicely wouldn’t get shunned in the same way. Seeing as Raveneye, who is leader and the father to crow, if her own dad despises her so much, the clan is much likely to follow his orders and views.
It doesn’t justify any of the bullying behaviour tho, I just see the black pelts thing is more of a religion, and they don’t take too kindly to others who don’t fit the description. Especially when the clan blames Crow for the massacre of the 4 cats deaths, one of them being Talon and Jack’s father, so that’s another reason for them to not like her.

@@_kaleidoe did. In Crowsong’s page it’s stated he is one of her bullies. And look at the “ waiting in the wings” map. He, his sister, and friend were clearly indicated to have been bullying her since she was a kit. Even if he probably was a bystander, it’s just as bad to just watch someone getting abused.

AGHHHH Nothing is easy in this storyyy! God I almost cried with those poor kids because of how strong the emotion is portrayed. It made me think of my own OCs losing their parents or family members and ahH it just hurttt.
On a happier note I do adore Talonkit and Jackdawkit playing together! I love a good sibling bond! Having a big sister is so adorable for Jackdaw tooo!

I really love how as the story is revealed more, the characters are shown to not be truly terrible people. Before, I questioned why everyone went to Starclan except Crow and Ash, but not so much now. I adore this nuance in morality, everyone seems to be varying shades of gray.
Like, yes they absolutely should not have abused Crowsong, but at the same time it was because of their beliefs. They didn't really know any better. It is not an excuse, simply a reason.
So, yeah, keep up the amazing work! Looking forward to the next one!

I FORGOT TO COMMENT NOO:(( but oh my god this is one of my fav things by you!!!!i adore the depth you gave to talontail specifically, its so often for mean girl characters to be very… cardboard rly but the fact she has such a connection to her family and younger brother just warms my heart and gives us more of a look into corvidclan with how their distain for crow is less just pure evil but more of just generations of being told it was a curse iirc! it just makes the characs so much more interesting to read abt and i love getting to see more into them!!

Jackdawgale is my favorite character so far and I’ve fallen more in love with him once you introduced some of his problems. Honestly one of my favorites parts about this story in general is that you actually make every cat more than they appear
To CrowSong her clan is probably just horrible, so it makes sense that when we're seeing things through her POV that's all we get of them, horrible cats
But as soon as we switch the POV we see the humanity behind them
Same thing with CrowSong's father, we can see his humanity when it's from his POV
This doesn't make them *good* cats, but it makes them more *alive*
You giving even the 'bad' characters actual *character* is very cool and sadly something not many people do with OC'S that aren't their favorite
This is so beautiful. Just seeing this makes me feel bad for Talontail and Jackdawgale that their mother and father died but then thinking what they have done to CrowSong (bullying her) makes me feel like I should not. Just the fact that they had a good relationship with each other shows that in not every story somebody has to be blamed for somebody else not making it. (I want to know more about CorvidClan Cats but we will have to wait!)
