  • The Martin Barre Band, before they cover Jethro Tull Aqualung in it's entirety, cover a 9 minute excerpt of Thick as a Brick featuring the amazing vocal and mannerisms of Dan Crisp and great guitar interplay on Cruise to the Edge 2022 (Prog Rock Heaven) in the Royal Theatre on the Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas cruise ship (at sea) on May 3, 2022. Thick as a Brick was written by Gerald Bostock (aka Ian Anderson) and was a continuous piece of music, Jethro Tull's fifth studio album released in March 1972. It was intended by Ian Anderson to be a parody of the concept album genre, who was infuriated when critics called Jethro Tull's previous album, Aqualung, a concept album. Citing the surreal British humour of Monty Python as an influence, his intent was to satirise the progressive rock genre that was popular at the time: Ian said that "the album was a spoof to the albums of Yes and ELP, much like the movie Airplane! was to Airport" (quoted from Wikipedia). Ironically, the album is considered to be Jethro Tulls first truly Progessive Rock album and topped the Billboard 200 album chart in the US and was in the top 5 all over the world.
