  • Martin Barre announced that he and his band are going to perform the album Aqualung in it's entirety tonight for the last time winding up it's 50th anniversary tour over the last year. Containing what has been voted one of the greatest guitar solos of all time, and IMHO the most thought provoking first two lyric lines to start a song, the Martin Barre Band cover Aqualung on the Cruise to the Edge 2022 in the Royal Theatre on the Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas cruise ship (at sea) on May 3, 2022. Aqualung was written by Ian Anderson and Jennie Anderson (Ian's first wife) and was the title and opening track on Jethro Tull's fourth studio album released in March 1971. The idea from the lyrics came from a photograph that Jennie took of a tramp in London and a letter she wrote to Ian, who romanticized the idea of a person who was homeless, yet a free spirit who is outside of society. The album Aqualung was Jethro Tull's first American Top Ten album, reaching number 7 on the Billboard Albums chart.
