Nolan literally told Mark the Viltrumite plan last season. The plan was never eradication. Granted he was beating the crap out of Mark at the time, but he was honest...

One thing that didn't make sense for me is why would Nolan let Invincible fight Allen that time, knowing full well that Allen is from the coalition of planets and could expose the whole truth to invincible about the viltrumites... Also strange that Allen didn't even mention the viltrumites while explaining to invincible about his job

To be fair, in the comic book they did the same thing about how they make comics and how they cut corners etc.
So it's not just them explaining how they make animation and why it took time, it's a reference to a double spread of the comic book that did the same
I know a lot of meta stuff can be cheesy, this came off as pretty genuine and interesting to me though.

@@ricchapin723only reason i dont think its lazy is cause of the sheer amount of time and energy it takes to draw then aminate and it already has taken them forever to put out seasons. so if they cut a total of 30-45 minutes of animation in a season i see that as a small price to pay for perfection.

I forget what episode but Allen mentioned Viltrumites are weird about killing their own kind nowadays. Since their purge. And yeah their goal was never destroy Earth, they're an empire, they want to rule. That's what Nolan was there for, to ready Earth for them.

The breakup with Amber is part of Mark learning that he can't live a normal life.
23:41 While on a meta angle we KNOW why Amber feels different in season 2. Huge backlash to her in season 1 so the writers had to go back on whatever direction they had for her to appease the fans.
But on a development angle, it is still possible for people to reflect on themselves and try to change for the better from what they were previously. And this time Amber DID try her best to be better in the relationship.
i think the backlash as far as im aware was because how different she acted from the comics though
I don't think people would have hated Amber as much in the first season if she hadn't figured out Mark's double identity before chewing him out. That was poorly handled and would have played better if she was actually caught off guard by his reveal

i also wondered why they even kept mark and nolan alive, but when nolan explained where he really came from in season 1 he said they were spread thin taking over planets and thats why only nolan came to earth so they probably want as many viltrumites as possible, also supremacy and all that so they probably dont like killing their own
nolan is set for execution viltrimites want him at his full strength when they do it
We also don't know about their breeding and population status so it's possible they don't have a gigantic amount of people left in their society across the universe. Plus the less population of Viltrumites the less people they have to hold their territories

There's two reasons why they keep them alive, for one because viltrumite tradition says you can't execute a prisoner until they're at full strength. Since neither of them are gonna go down without a fight, they would have to spend time healing before they're eligible for execution (this is whats happening to nolan now). The other reason is like you said, the viltrumites population is spread thin. The comics go more into depth about why this is, it will probably be addressed in the show during season 3 or 4

Don't worry. You'll find out later why the Viltrumites wanna take over Earth. Until just keep enjoying the ride. Also that speech from the comic con scene is just a one to one from the comic. They explain there though how the comic is made every week. It wasn't a jab at anyone, but the artists themselves having fun.

No, Maple. Donald’s “consciousness” wasn’t placed inside a robot computer/brain. Cecil told him that Nolan’s body shielded him somewhat from the blast and his brain was intact. His brain was then transplanted into a robot body hence making Donald a cyborg. And the brain is where your consciousness “lives”.
Waking up during surgery is one of my top fears.
Honestly not as bad as it sounds if that helps!!! Also my doctors were so nice they ended up putting me back to sleep because I kept asking them to turn up the music while they were literally breaking my foot that’s how little I cared 😭😂🤣

how are they always so clueless about everything, feels like we not even watching the same show
They talk over so much of the show, and then seem to forget a lot of the parts they didn’t even talk over. It’s pretty frustrating to watch. They’ll make good predictions sometimes about what’s going to happen next, and seem pretty invested in the show, so it’s really confusing how they tend to so easily forget such important pieces of information they just heard a couple episodes ago.

Despite their brutality, the Viltrumites don’t want millions of human casualties. What’s the point of ruling a world if everyone is dead? They want Mark to win over the humans to make the transition smooth.
Yeah. It's not even really a matter of not wanting to kill people, they really don't care either way about the humans themselves. It's pure monstrously ruthless practicality. If they have to crush the humans then they will need to spend time, resources, and people rebuilding the planet before they get anything from it. If Mark gets humanity to surrender with minimal losses then they can go pretty much right to exploiting the planet and population.
You say that, but in the alternate dimensions we see it looks like there are millions of casualties anyways. There is at least constant, worldwide unrest which Nolan and Mark violently suppress. It seems a far cry from a peaceful annexation.

The explanation thing was also a dorect reference to the comics, a very very similar scene plays out there discussing comics instead of shows
Remember back in episode 4 on Thraxia Genreal Kreeg had assigned Mark to take over the earth after taking Nolan away.

The meta reference to animation taking forever was actually from the comics.
I think they’re going too deep into the Mark and Amber breakup. While they’re right about Amber’s perspective, the breakup, specifically how it went down, was meant to show Mark beginning the process of understanding he won’t be able to juggle his two lives like he thought he would. You add in what happens in the season finale… it becomes clear Mark has to truly embrace being Invincible so he can prepare for what’s coming. (You’ll learn in S3.)
How is that a question the cruises would charge extra because theres a chance their route would let you see Godzilla, and people would pay it too

Forget why people still take vacations in this world where cataclysmic events happen every week, my question is how in the hell did humanity even *survive* to *this* point, if there's literally 50 foot monsters running around.
Super heroes. They can't show it, but in the comic they are a ton: Spawn, The Darkness, Witchblade, Savage Dragon, Ect. Which all make appearences from time to time.

This was a comic book series that lasted 15 years and over 140 issues (2003-2018). It’s a LOT of material to cover. There’s always going to be some pacing problems when trying to translate it to other media, especially television. Thankfully it’s a complete series.
Another thing is Robert Kirkman likes to go back and make changes to some story ideas because he’s in a different place than when he originally wrote the comics. He did similar things with The Walking Dead, which had terrible pacing issues on/off.
Okay, here's the thing though girls. First, you are ignoring the fact that the Viltrumites don't just kill at random. Despite the massive massacres they commit, it was never just random. Nor do they just kill other Vilytrumites all willy nilly; even Allen said do to Mark. Second just killing Mark is like assuming that Earth is the ONLY thing they have going on; and that they can just send anyone sown to Earth at ANY time. Viltrumites are expanding their empire even AS this fight is happening and there aren't Multi millions of them. They've purged themselves leaving only the strong. And when you are a Viltrumite 10 is equal to millions of other species. In some cases ONE Vlitrumite is superior to an entire species of billions. Remember what Nolan did to those lizard aliens that age faster?? He was ONE and he genocided their entire race. In that context I'd guess-timate that there might be barely a few thousand Viltrumites in total Finally Thragg - the Viltrumite that told Mark that conquering earth was now HIS responsibility - would rather make Mark watch billions of humans die and finally be so demoralized that he gives up and surrenders instead of killing him. Viltrumites are a race of Dominants, not mindless murderers. Killing ALWAYS has a purpose.

8:20 I woke up during surgery! I was 10 and had a minor, non-invasive heart operation (specifically a Radio Frequency Ablation if curious), so I wasn't open on the table when I woke up. When I did wake up, my vision was hazy and I saw the operation light, heard the beeping of monitors, shuffling of shoes, and muttering of the doctors. I couldn't feel anything other than my heart going crazy in my chest (they had to simulate me through a palpitation to find the source). Then after at least 10-15 seconds of being awake, I saw a shadow come over me and say "Oh, you're not supposed to be awake" and I was out again. They were surprised that a 10 year old didn't freak out by waking up during their first surgery.

Feels pointless to comment because they’ve probably heard everything from another source (Patreon) and because others here have already said it, but for those who don’t know:
1) The “animation” bit is not just to educated viewers about how hard it is to make a show. It is a meta joke because of the animation reference as well as because in the comics, there is medium appropriate version of that joke.
Ex. Repeating panels for dramatic effect even though it’s just an easy way to fill pages. (It’s funnier when you see it for yourself)
2) A lot of the questions these two have towards the Viltrumites’ philosophy/logic in the conquering of Mark and Earth is eventually explained and it’s supposed to be a slight twist. Spoilers*****
There are not as many high level Viltrum soldiers as we’ve been expected to believe there are. I’m talking powerhouses like the ones we’ve seen so far (Nolan, Anissa, Kregg, Lucan, etc.). So the reason they don’t kill Mark is because he is a rare and valuable asset to them, especially after gauging his strength and seeing he has the same potential as his father. This is why they have a problem with Nolan having “inferior” children with incompatible species, because the DNA difference is too big for the Viltrum blood to overpower for the level of soldiers they want. This whole situation is also why they’re so weird about killing other Viltrumites now, whereas in the past they were not so much.

Maple is on track to a good line of questioning. I mean if you choose to take out all of the superhero/extraterrestrial/ sci-fi elements out, it’s a pretty simple problem that most closed societies with delusions of racial superiority tend to run into after a few dozen generations or so. Nuff said.

Yes they would because Godzilla doesn't CARE about attacking cruise ships. It doesn't just randomly attack for shits and giggles, you know. Godzilla is actually Earth's defender. It defends the planet; not the human that are barely a blink on the planet's life span. This Kaiju was likely minding it's business when the cruise ship came upon it's territory. When you think about 98% of all these Kaiju monster movies that's really all there is to it. WE (humanity) actually disturb THEM. Of course there ARE exceptions, such as Pacific Rim but generally WE are the ones messing with their territory for our own entitled and arrogant reasons.
