    I have a strip mahogany veneer table over mahogany with light but annoying scratches. I am terrified of doing anything to it. Will this clear wood finish deal with those light scratches without changing color? It looks like you're is unnoticeable - can one spray and then go over it to make sure there are no drips etc? What a fabulous video - thank you so much!

  • @SuperWarriorFitness
    @SuperWarriorFitness Před 7 lety +39

    Good effort but there is a way to get the scratch or chip completely invisible, use wood filler, sand it level, lacquer the colour back from where you sanded it, draw the grain back in with graining sticks/ pens or even paint them lacquer it again for a protective sealant 👌

    Deft Clear Wood Finish is a nitrocellulose lacquer and is not compatible with most modern finishes and may cause blistering or dissolving of the original finish. You need to know what you are working with before applying any topical surface finishes. Usually some shellac or some water based polyurethane will do the job without causing any problems.

    Wonderful! Will the fill stick + lacquer trick work on a dining room table top that gets washed down daily, or will I need something more heavy duty to seal it?
    It’s a pedestal table with small chips in the veneer right along the center edge where you would drop in or lift out the center leaf of the table…

  • @bobbg9041
    @bobbg9041 Před 7 lety

    I can see the repair after you put on the spray, you can take a fine line of black or darker color to keep the wood grain where its only red and this would hide it even better. Almost invisible you would really have to look to find the repair.
    I take it the fill pens are made of a wax? hows this work with Poly? Poly's used on floors, but I've been using it on kitchen cabinets it holds up a lot better the lacquer finish also the more gloss the harder the surface this is also true with paint's from what I've read and seen.
