- Community does Law & Order as a yam has been discovered murdered on the floor of a science classroom.
#Community #Yam #Law&Order
Season 3, Episode 17 - Basic Lupine Urology
Presented like an episode of Law & Order (1990), the study group attempts to find out who squashed their biology project: a yam. Troy and Abed become detectives, Shirley is their boss, Jeff and Annie pose as prosecuting attorneys, while Pierce is an informant and Britta a lab tech.

"A passing grade? Like a C? Why don't I just get pregnant at a bus station "😂 One of Annie's best lines.
She does have a point lmao
They’re at a community college
You probably get a C just from attendance lol
Very subliminal, Annie's growing up.
This is a Law and Order parody. Their personalities are slightly different in this episode from their usual episodes
The fact that Pierce's death got the same amount of dedicated episodes as a yam murder is why I love this show
Yes.
@Dr Anime i'm pretty sure i liked the yam a lot more
@@spicegrill I don’t know, “Cooperative Polygraphy” is one of the best of the series, IMO.
The fact that Jeff was desperately running to Greendale thinking that Annie wanted to have sex with him in the biology room makes me laugh every time
And who are you texting everyone you know is here!
Poor Jeff never got screwed in the biology room
I loovvee Shirely's instant flip into a no nonsense Police detective. "It's been a long 15 years" just makes me lose it every time
Give YNB a fantastic script and watch her run with it XD it's nice when you can tell the actor is enjoying themselves!
she is low-key the best actor on the show after Jim Rash.
@@HHopebringer ohh.. that's nice.
Can somebody explain to me why she says "it's been a long fifteen years." Is that an inside joke or something?
@@stevencoffin328 probably referring to how long Law and Order has been running
"It's not a short straw, it's a hot potato" THEY TOLD US FROM THE VERY BEGINNING!
I never realized this
After 3 full episode viewings, I only realized that NOW!!
Troy and Abed both trying to outwit each other is the most hilarious thing ever😂
"We can't both do the zinger."
"sorry..." *fights tears*
I think this is probably the best 'special' opening theme done for a Community episode. Ludwig fuckin nailed the L&O aesthetic mixed with the OG song. AD&D theme is a close second though
RIP AD&D
@@joshcohen29 see in amazon prime
@@user-us5lw7mt2v holy crap thank you! I had to skip it last time I watched the series but now I can watch it again!
My personal favourite is for a few paintaballs more but i love westerns so I may be biased
The only thing that could have made it perfect would have been getting the guy that actually does the intros for L&O. Family Guy got him when they did their spoof.
"Its been a long 15 years"
Honestly this show was way head of other shows when it comes to humor
Streets ahead
@@anthonychicas6649 Stop trying to coin streets ahead
@@PoloLoiTamin trying to? It's been coined and minted.
So does it mean, like, cool? Or miles ahead?
@@GunsofZapata If you have to ask, you're streets behind.
holy CRAP we are DEFINITELY dissecting pine cones next year
I always love how the janitors find the yam. Istg every Law and Order episode starts with two guys doing small talk and finding a body.
The parody episodes in Community is always my favorites 👍
They're homages, not parodies
@@outofstock22 the Glee episode was definitely not a homage.
@@outofstock22 but Abed said it is parody, not homage 😉
@@pat2rome two years later, here I am to say that it was actually a horror flick homage
You know, body snatchers and such and slasher films.
Not saying it wasn't a Glee parody, but it's main formula was that of a horror movie, but instead of gruesome murders there were singing and dancing.
Super love this episode and I don’t even watch Law and Order. It’s just so good how they translated it into Community. Plus, Danny Pudi in that suit?? *chef’s kisses
ikr, he is so fine. 😍
RIP Michael K Williams.
1:36 The way Abed pats Jeff on the shoulder is what Det. Lennie Brisco does all the time to his fellow CSU guys in Law and Order! Gosh they really go all out on these details, don't they?
This really is streets ahead
#sixseasonsandamovie
I love how at 0:31 professor Kane looks around for people when Chang says "Move along, nothing to see here"
Another great micro-detail.
one of the best epi
kinda
1:43 Abed breaking the 4th wall again with that foreshadowing
"I solved it in the first two minutes but I really wanted to do a Law & Order episode."
@@PanAndScanBuddy I can totally hear him saying that haha!
Shirley: Oh that’s nice, I’ve been watching crime shows when I’m bored 😊
Also Shirley: (Takes control of the situation telling Troy and Abed what to do)
Later Shirley: It’s been a long 15 years
“First time those words have actually been true” in Jeff’s nonchalant voice is my favourite line in this scene 💁🏻♀️
This is low-key my favorite episode of the series
I swear they got the unit director for L&O episodes to direct. It's just perfect.
I think they did. I'm a fan of L&O franchise, and I saw many familiar names on the episode credits. Also, Leslie Hendrix had a cameo as a botanist in this episode. She was a regular in L&O.
123haninhk This made me love this episode and this show more. Thank you for sharing this info!!
Thank you, guys! Interesting info
Jeff: "she got me here on a very misleading text message"
Annie: "technically you are about to be screwed in the biology room"
So...............Jeff thought Annie wanted to do him in the biology room.
I would probably run over a few people on the way if I got that text
That’s literally the joke.
Thanks for explaining the joke, wouldn't have got it otherwise
Thanks Captain Obvious
Some of Abed's best lines are in this episode:
"We can't both do the zinger."
"I'm gifted in other ways."
"We named the yam 'Pam'. It rhymed."
Also, the look on Todd's face when Neil confessed. I don't know why, but that kills me everytime. No offense, Todd.
Non taken😂
@@anirac1506 (I wanted to write that reply ...but I'm still glad someone else did.)
If you don't make a movie, you're streets behind
You know what would be cool? Them uploading the entire Advanced Dungeons & Dragons episode on youtube. That would be cool.
Oh, because of the Netflix nonsense ban? That would be cool indeed.
Man I love how the comments are just random lines from the show. It really shows the genius behind the creation of Community.
I love how the intro is mostly images from previous episodes
2:01 "what does a pregnancy test look like?"
lmao I thought the joke was that it just said “COMM” and I got very amused then confused
Although this episode is an homage to Law and Order, I've never seen it because Community has set the bar too high
That doesn’t make any sense you don’t order ketchup it’s a condiment!
Ketchup is a vegetable!
Troy...TROY! Walk it off!
Still one of my favorite episodes. The writing was brilliant
At 0:44 I was rewinding this moment trying to figure out what Jeff was thinking was going to happen when he got that text the writers knew what they doing with that line
Of all the parody/homage Community episodes, this one is my favorite
2:19 Who else agrees that this gave them goosebumps
Survey says...
God forgive me, I did it for love!
Great... Now I'll have to rewatch the entire episode.
That 1 second shot of the mascot in the intro came from a horror movie.
I can't pick which I like better, this or the ass crack bandit episode. Both are sooo good.
Ass Crack Bandit. Because of the song.
Shout out to "Mama's Family"! Loved, and still do, that show
ONE OF THE BEST EPISODES.
This episode was so well done that it made me want to watch Law & Order
ahahah SAME
Kiss me ....I'll explain later
The explanation isn't the issue!
I spell Quiss with a Q U.
Her disgust, as it would be IRL.
Yvette Nicole Brown perfectly nails Van Buren.
this episode is so well done
One of my favorite episodes
Best episode ever!!!!!!
THE EXPLANATION ISN'T THE ISSUE!
Whoever did the camerawork is a fucking pro
A-ma-zing!! I must rewatch all the series... What a astonishing show!!
I love that the yam's leaves are actually from a pothos plant, makes it even more ridiculous
I remember the article that got posted when they got the green light to do this. It delivered and then some.
I love Troys Spiderman tie there at the end
"It's a hot potato." After watching the episode 3 times, and this clip countless more, I only now realize: They just foreshadowed the solution!!
I just realized Troy calling it a hot potato is foreshadowing the revelation.
This is my favorite episode ever
I FUCKING LOVE SHIRLEY LMAO THAT INSTANT FLIP THO
“First time those words were actually true!”
It's a shame that Annie never screwed Jeff in the biology room
the intro is perfection
“Commnunity”
No one does homage better than Community.
Danny Pudi’s wife was in labor and he had to finish filming all his scenes for this episode
And the fact they got the ME from Law and Order to participate...
Watched this episode literally today
I just watched this episode yesterday
We named the yam 'Pam'. It rhymed.
This is why I hang out in bus stations.
How did they always get their alternative themes to sound so good?
I just watched this episode!

One of my favorite episodes by far
Also why I don’t get I just get pregnant at a bus station?

This intro song is better than the original
Am I the only one surprised this channel is still uploading?

I feel this. When I was in Biology in 9th grade me and my friend/lab partner got our entire frog stolen.
Law and Order!
Now let's talk about that movie
Omar ran off to New York to become a professor in yams.
I love Community Chang and abed and troye is my favorit character
