- The 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 has finally been teased after years of speculation! The C8 Corvette overall has been a massive hit in the sports car industry - even with the huge risk of going from front engine to mid engine...even though that might be the thing that is missing from the C8 Corvette ZR1. So let's talk about it!

Crazy how a safer chasis is bad....😂😂😂😂
This is about the equivalent of what Dodge did with the Hurricane. Past that, heard tall tale rumors that Acura is potentially giving the Integra the ADX treatment. So maybe we'll see a AWD Integra, though if we do it'll likely only have the 1.5l Turbo with like 200-220hp which is quite honestly a colossal let down. Like to hear your thoughts on a potential Integra ADX.
Ford mustang GTD is far superior
When a regular C8 still selling for $90k and the Z06 selling for $120k+, I'm guessing the ZR1 is gonna be $200k+. The C8 regardless of trim is awesome but like dude... This is ridiculous.
Depending on who is president they might not let them make gas cars anymore. What do you expect?
If Z06 is for 500k. Zr1 is millions.......
@@RCXDerpthe EV market is on a downward trend. Companies have cut their production because people aren't buying them.
@@knight838_ Doesn't mean the government won't full speed ahead ramming EVs down everyone's throats by banning and mandating. Like Communism.
C8s aren’t selling for 90k… it’s not 2021 anymore I can go to my local Chevy dealership and get one for msrp
$200k isn’t affordable anymore period. It’s just another supercar at that point.
No buddy it’s gonna destroy 2 million dollar hyper-cars and super cars. It would be the price of a new 911 Porsche and it might be faster around the track even compared to the 500k GT3 rs.
Yeah as well 300K
Super cars cost considerably more…
@@joshkrause2977not really. In that 200k can buy you used Ferrari 458, Lamborghini huracan, 911 turbo, GT3RS, McLaren 570/720 and others. Now if the c8 is objectively a better car or not is up for discussion but fact is most people shopping at that price point don’t want a corvette.
@@andrewking1427 did you just come at me with you can buy a used car???? People who are gonna bitch about the price of a Corvette are going to bitch about the maintenance on their used supercars….. the cost of maintenance on any of the cars you mentioned is astronomical compared to a Corvette…..
As a valet in CA, i see C8's all the time, but only 1 E-Ray
I feel like not enough people know how awesome the Eray is. Which is kinda sad.
@@Underpantsnipermy exact thoughts
Isn't the Zora going to be a ZR-1 with the E-Ray electric motors for AWD? It will essentially be the first factory Corvette hypercar!
@@Underpantsniper Yeah for driving around town the E-Ray is the way to go, for trackdays Z06, two very different cars. It's like the Z06 is the GT3RS and E-Ray is the Turbo.
@@anydaynow01 literally all Chevy has to do is put a slightly more powerful electric motor upfront and a slightly more powerful flat plane crank engine in the back and ....boom an AWD mid engine monster is born.

I'm a C8 Stingray owner. I absolutely adore this car and I've slapped 24,000 miles on it in a year and a half. No regrets. That's why it sells so well: C8's are just that good.
Thats awesome
Who woulda thought the muppet man was a car guy
If I can afford a Z06/ZR1....I'm driving it.
Exactly, it’s supposed to be on the track ripping corners and making straightaways look small
Man. Of. Culture!
Amen brother but I like the C6 ZR1 the most
How many years is this going to take?
I work at a Chevy dealership so its hard not to see a C8 every day, and yet I haven't seen a single E Ray yet!
Same!
I also work at a Chevy dealership, we had one E-Ray allocation for the entire production run. Incredibly limited.
Bro's acting like we won't see new highs for dealership markups making what's supposed to be an American budget supercar cost as much as a v12 Lambo.
Then don't buy a Zr1???????? buy a stingray????? The Zr1 is entering hyper car territory bud.
I got a massage yesterday, i stepped out and into the light, blinded, but graced by the howls of a Z06 getting on it. That was very nice 😂
So, you got a happy ending?

Bingo, me as well!
That makes three of us! I like the C8 but I needed to row gears
Me too. I have a c7 z06 manual; won’t be seller her anytime soon, :-)
Remember, C7 460hp Grand Sport has FASTER Laguna Seca laptimes than the C8Z51
Wow, that's interesting
Which is easier to drive at the limit/more confidence inspiring?
Cup 2 tires tho...
I had never seen a C8Z until a guy just down the street from me showed up on day in a burgundy/wine colored Z06 with the aero pkg...drove past me on the street and just hearing that FPC LT was beautiful.
Whenever I go out to Hampton Bays, there's this little car show at Meschutt Beach that's held there and every time I've gone to it, there must have been at least 3 to 5 C8 Corvettes. Not to mention, the number of other Corvettes that are there is insane. We're literally talking about at least one Corvette from each generation, with one of them being a C7 ZR1 in Sebring Orange which blew my mind. Last year I saw a C7 Z06 Convertible along with a 5th Gen Dodge Viper, an Aston Martin DB5, a Porsche 928, etc. You just have no idea what you're gonna see at this meet-up.
I love the c8 but I remember part of the hype with the stingray announcement was the advertised MSRP. Once they actually came out they ended up being a lot more expensive than we initially thought. In my mind I was hoping the lower MSRP meant that eventually I could snag a used one for cheap but unfortunately it’s been the exact opposite. Can’t imagine how expensive the ZR1 will be
That's because no one orders a base Vette ..... no one.
@@danielfair4675 Exactly this. Plus people were willing to pay over sticker. As much as it sucks, hard to blame dealers for selling over MSRP if people are dumb/fortunate enough to do so
Macmulkin Corvette…Number 1 Corvette Dealer in the world only sell Corvettes at MSRP supposedly. They will also ship the car to you according to their website site. This is where I plan to purchase what I can afford before they go away. There are already supercharger and twin turbo kits for the C8 which would be fun but financing a factory engineered supercar with a warranty as opposed to adding another 10-15k or more to any C8(parts,labor,wheels,etc.)with potential long term reliability issues…is not my bag of beans. I mean…a regular C8 is plenty of car…but I personally have to hear a ZO6 in person as well as the E-Ray(like the weather friendly powertrain) and see if they’re worth the price premium.I personally wouldn’t want a used C8 considering how some people might abuse them/not break them in properly…just my 2 cents.
@@justwingingit1 You speak truth. I bought my 2022 C8 from them exactly 2 years ago at MSRP.
Bro first 30 sec in n the editing feels so nostalgic 😂 I love it
ThatDudeinBlue, You're amazing! I hit the like button as soon as I saw it!
Mike and Kyle had/have two of my favorite zr1’s on CZcams. Mikes was insane.
That Red vs Blue clip brought back some great memories. Thank you. 😆
Good vid you earned another sub. Can’t believe I haven’t subbed yet! Thanks man!!!
Combining the Z06's LT6 engine with the E-Ray hybrid would result in a combined 830 hp and 582 lbf-ft.
The high revving strong top end of the LT6 is well complimented by the strong low end grunt of the hybrid system.
While it would be cool to have a more powerful ZR1, I think the combination of ample power across the entire rev range along with AWD would make a brutally fast track weapon.
***Yeah, C8 Corvettes are everywhere down here in Jacksonville Florida
Hey Dude in Blue love your channel and respect your opinion. I believe the C8 ZR1 will be an E-Ray with the Z06 engine. I know that’s not as exciting as Supercharging or Turbocharging but it makes allot of sense and will be wicked fast!
Love the Red vs Blue shout out.😂 Good video as always!
David! Seeing the clips from the ford performance event in Charlotte was super cool. I saw you there and we briefly chatted and that was honestly the highlight of that already insane night ( ok meeting Vaughn GJ might be tied). Always love your videos dude, next time you are in Charlotte I'd be honored to have you in my 02 Gt mustang it has a little bottle of the good stuff in the back 🤫. And I have actually seen maybe 5 or y Erays in the wild by me!
Love the Red vs Blue references. Such a good throw back.
The red vs blue clips ❤❤😂 brings back good memories and reminds me that you still have the same sense of humor as when we met randomly 😅
If Chevy are serious about track times and having usable power, they’ll keep the Z06 engine and electrify it with the same E Ray system and make it AWD. AWD isn’t popular sometimes but with that much power, AWD helps tremendously
Correct, but remember they have a different trim level in the works for that one. The ZR1 is supposed to be the all gas no EV, the one that is scheduled after the ZR1 is going to be the one with the ZR1 engine (whatever it ends up getting) along with a slightly more powerful electric system from the E-ray
I live in Detroit and I see the e-Ray all the time

Probably seeing some Z06's. ERays have been in very, very slim production - like 36/week even into May '24
I have a feeling it'll have 900hp, possibly twin turbo, maybe AWD with the hybrid setup
As long as it beats the cars from overseas, I’m happy. Go Corvette!
THE C8 ZR1 ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, IS GOING TO BE MEGA NO OTHER WAY ABOUT IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve ridden in some fast cars, and I’ll say that a modded C6 ZR1 was the most terrifying. Not the fastest, but the most insane. The car just acted like it was looking for every chance to kill you. It was awesome.
I don't understand why everyone loves flat plane cranks all of a sudden? The balance issues limit motor size with them. I hope the ZR1 has a supercharged 6.2 or larger with a cross plane crank.
I see C8s often but not every day and I get excited every single time
The ZR1 is going to have the Z06 engine with the ERay front e-motor. Makes the most since
Corvettes are fairly common anyway. C6, C7, C8. That said, I've been seeing some more C8's lately but it seems less C7's. So it's possible people have traded in
I know it’s off topic but I saw a Cybertruck for the first time on a day that wasn’t my greatest and it made me smile 🥲 But I’m also in an area where you wouldn’t expect a lot of cool cars but there’s 3 CTSV wagons in my town, a couple V10 M6s and a few M5s etc etc
Here in Brooklyn I do see the C8s lot more than when the C7s were out. My church in the Bronx is across the street from a rather small to medium Chevy dealership and they aways have least 2 to 3 C8s on the showroom floor. Talk to one of their salesman and the street and he said that the C8s are selling very well.
I bought a C8 Z06 convertible and it’s the best sports car I’ve ever owned. I knew the ZR1 was coming but I prefer the NA engine in the Z06. And it’s so fast and well sorted I honestly never yearn for more power in it. I think the Z06 is the pinnacle drivers car.
Love the content. Been a subscriber for awhile 🤟. I have liked the E-RAY ever since I saw it was coming out. If I had the 💲💲I would buy one in a heartbeat.
It won’t be RWD. It will be AWD if it wants to be quicker than the E-Ray.
I'm more curious about the 2024 YENKO/SC Corvette than the 2025 ZR1 because the YENKO/SC has MOPOWA BABY...
I agree with you that this is a great time for car enthusiasts! Pick your brand/flavor and enjoy! I was thinking about a new/unabused GTR but don’t like dealer gouging…which basically leaves the E-Ray(AWD)or ZO6 if I can swing it by purchasing it from an MSRP only dealership(they are out there). Manufacturers are going to be swinging for the fences before they all have to go electric(sigh!)…we all just have to figure out what ridiculous toy we want to see everytime we open our garage doors…😆
love the look of the C8. beautiful car. Its a bargain for what you get but id never go back to a gas car... ever. But when they come out with a full electric version and my kids are all in college i'll be shopping for one.
I see C8 Z06s everyday.. my dealership owner parked his in the show room... considering your lucky to find one under 100k, i see c8s and z06s all the time in my area . no e-rays yet... man I wish i had that kind of money....
This car, the Chevy Corvette, I have waited my whole life to own. The problem I'm having is trying to buy one. I've been dealing with an exceptionally honest dealer Aaron Miller, but the whole team is exceptional at ( Leach Wilson) in Shelbyville IL. They told me from day one that they would sell the car to me at sticker there . I've been waiting for 3 years now to get one. The dealerships have been gouging the customers, and Chevy hasn't been sending them anywhere but to a few chosen dealerships. Some of the people I know have decided not to buy one now. They moved off and bought Audi's or Porsche's. Chevrolet you need to try to get out to the other markets, I've been a Chevy guy, especially performance Chevy, since I was 17. ( I owned a 70 Chevelle SS 396) Now that I've raised my family and waited my whole life, I want the car of my dreams. Please get it to us Chevy purists!
Another reference to front engine and mid-engine... C2-C7 Corvettes are front-mid engine. C8 is rear-mid engine. The engine is between the front and rear axles and either in front of the driver or behind the driver. Front engine means the engine is over the front axles. The last front-engine Corvette was 1962, C1.
Omfg that is the best red vs blue episode. I can't believe that reference in a car video lmao
The reason why they went with Crossplane over FPC on the GT500 was because the GT350 couldn't handle a roots style Supercharger reliably so they went with a cross plane as its a more robust design. A turbo isn't cam/belt driven do its going to remain FPC
As I’m watching this video on my lunch there’s a c8 corvette parked behind me 😂
Not the RvB reference 😂😂😂 got me dying
C6 ZR1 was very raw. C7 ZR1 is scary fast but not as crazy raw and unruly as the C6. I own a 7MT car and unless you are something crazy on cold tires - it never loses traction.
I was sooooooo happy to hear you say “it can’t be a midlife crisis if it’s a manual”. That needs to be a tshirt Bud!!! Also made me feel better about myself which means I probably ought to go talk to my therapist… 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
Haha knew I’d see the cicio shop car eventually in this vid, hope you been good Dave miss you brother
The C8 platform needs and manual option to set itself apart. Period. Imagine how fun a manual C8Z/ZR1 would be! I feel you on the age thing David! Still worth it!
Even in Australia, theres 3 c8’s i see regularly just driving around just near where i live. Considering they are imported and 3rd party converted to rhd so a base model on road is around $180k+
I saw a C6 ZR-1 pull a wheelie at a drag strip in Valdosta GA. It actually lost to a Supra. Both had Drag tires etc..
Non-stock supras are easier to make faster
Former C8 owner here… i have 3 on my street alone in El Paso. Apparently they produced like 50k plus last year alone…up from 30k the year before
In LA you can’t leave the house without seeing at least one or two c8 cars. No matter where I go in the country, the two most seen gens oddly is the c4 and c8. I see c4 vettes everywhere. The c5 is the one I see the least of not counting c1-c2
I've seen many C6s and starting to see lots of C8s as well
Saw a corvette E-ray for the first time at Caffeine and octane last weekend, it was a dark gray and i had to do a double take since i also see sooo many normal C-8's, Adonis and Daily Driven drove in with like 20 c8's a month ago LMFAO
The only thing will help lower the ZR1 price is Zora coming after it.
Hey dude in blue whats your thoughts on the rumor of the ford thunder bird making a comback ive heard rumors its going to once again rival the corvette
I feel like a hybrid powertrain is very possible. Supercharged v8 in the back and electric motors up front.
I agree about the collectible aspect. Cars are meant to be driven.
Im in central Florida, I see probably 3 to 5 C8 per day. They're beautiful and sound awesome
The GTD is not "essentially... a GT500 engine and DRS". For starters, it's running a rear transaxle.
I see a C8 every day. It is in my garage.
ZR1 will probably be AWD with E-Ray type electric motors in the front...
The C8 ZR1 is supposed to have a starting msrp of $150k (markups are gonna be crazy tho) and comes in an 8 spd automatic along with a flat plane 5.5L V8 engine with twin turbos pushing around 850hp. Also it will have AFM which is a hell of a bummer for most and will also come with VVT.
$400k after markups

I was fortunate enough to get a c7 z06 manual several years ago before prices and interest rates went nuts. I feel so lucky I got her as I could not do it today with these c8 prices and high auto loan rates. She’s in my garage free and clear and that feels pretty nice. My goal of owning a Corvette is satisfied and I plan to keep her for as long as I can drive.
Speaking of Ford GT. My friend Kevin owns both an 05 and 2020. He actually road trips his 2020 all the time. He is also getting that Mustang GTD and Im willing to bet he will drive that as well. He is a real car guy. He buys them to drive not to sit.
I live in the Houston area, I see C8's, but not as many as I would have thought would be around. I still see C7's and older all the time. I have seen one E-ray.
I fully agree about the E-Ray. If I wanted a corvette, that one would actually be my current preference because you never have to plug it in. This to me is the only electric design that makes sense. Autonomy doesn't work for me unless the thing makes its own power. Like the Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid, this is another, more affordable one that actually got it right.
I like the E-Ray too and that's the one I'd buy, but the success of the E-ray is going to depend on how well they integrated the V8 and the electric motor in front IMO. I hope it works well and doesn't have any problems. My sister has a 2020 NSX which has the same setup with the ICE motor in the back and electric motor in the front. The engineering is flawless. You can't tell when the front EV motor is working unless you switch the display, or when you pull into the garage at a very slow speed and the EV motor does all the work then. And the NSX is is very quick - not even a tire chirp off the line with the front electric motor pulling, so with the E-Ray having more power it's going to be even quicker. Maybe not as refined as the NSX but still the vette I'd pick. Unfortunately corvettes are no longer the every man sportscar, especially the higher-performance models. I bought an 11 Grand Sport new and vettes have gone up so much since then even a guy with a pretty good income is hard pressed to afford one.
@@wadestipp1833 I agree on all points! But the Corvette electric and petroleum drivetrains are completely separate in the Corvette and work independently of one another. That's actually the reason why I think it's awesome. I think integrating the electric motor with the combustion engine is actually a negative. It makes one reliant upon the other. From a reliability standpoint, this is the way to do it IMO. It only goes 4 miles on batteries if it runs out of gas, but you don't ever have to plug it in which is what all EV's and EV hybrids should never do. Should be enough in most civilized areas to save you, but we all know that's not what it's for. I'm completely against sharing the power grid with things that use 30x more power every year that my house. Will remain in 100% opposition to every car design that gets plugged in.
Im sure this car is and will be great, but also so so complacated to the point of losing interest in it. The average person unless winning one will never be able to have one or drive one which is fine when you have finally accepted it lol. I feel like the 1960's was the best time to own something simple and quick for the average person. Those times are gone, RIP simplicity.
I bet chevy will put the e-ray drivetrain into the Z06 and call it ZR1. It's the easiest way about it, since the car is already designed for it and this way it also gains 4wd for better traction. And with 160HP electric motor, the total hrspwrs will be ~830HP which is a lot.
C7Z06 will forever and always be the best corvette made
I am most interested in what the MSRP will be on the ZR1. My question is how much "cheaper" will the ZR1 MSRP be compared to a comparable Ferrari or Lamborghini.
Hey David. I have a small question - do you always deliberately use very low quality versions of your videos when you're showing clips from them? I understand that you probably don't keep all of your recorded videos on your computer, but if you're just taking the clips from your own YT channel, then they should still be in a better quality. Is it a stylistic choice? Is it even intentional? I personally feel like it always takes away from the video a little. I don't mean to hate or anything. Just genuinely curious.
Lol I work at the milford proving grounds so I definitely see corvettes literally everywhere. Outside work during the summer, I see at least 1 a day. I think the C8s just catch your eyes more than the C7 or C6.
Wow what a beautiful car.. any idea how many horsepower and quarter mile times?
Anything that can “melt your face”sounds like fun to me 😂
To me the fun aspect of a car is the most important part, sure, you can have a car that always gets traction, has a smooth pull, and handles perfectly, but im still gonna pick the screaming kinda sketchy dosent get traction to well and throws the front end up in the air when you stomp the throttle.
It's such an incredible shame that the C8 doesn't offer a manual transmission. Think how awesome a 6 or 7 speed manual would be with optional computer rev matching (turn it on/off if you like). Once you push the clutch in, if you're downshifting or breaking, the computer notices you slide out of gate and into a lower gear, it could instantly calculate the optimal RPM and rev the motor to perfectly match the gear you're switching into before you even let out the clutch. Sure, it's fun to do this yourself, but that should be the new "automatic" feature. Not eliminate manual transmissions completely. I know the fully automatics have significantly lower latency but where is the fun for people that love manual transmissions?
The C8 ZR1 is NEVER going to be a nightmare as everyday folks will never be able to buy one due to ridiculous dealer markup. 99.7% will end up in collections of 80 year olds that will stare at them in their garages and only time we will see them is when they come up for sale at Barrett Jackson and only to be trailered back into hibernation of another 80 year old's collection
I've seen one E-Ray, maybe two Z06. Can't wait to see this ZR1.
I saw an E-Ray at a Chevy dealer in NJ getting ready for delivery, not quite "in the wild" but close.
Saw a fella takeing a gal for a ride in a black C8 it’s presents turned my head and it was gone fast banging gears effortlessly sounded great !its not chevys fault our president owns a vett it’s still a cool car !
I think the ZR1 is going to be a hybrid with the Z06 engine. AWD, 250 to 350hp front motor, beefed up E-Ray battery etc etc.
It fits the most with what they’re doing with the car - Chasing Nurburgring Euro performance with a Chevy badge on it.
Here in Denver, I've seen more Cyber Trucks, than E-Rays.. and I've seen precisely 1 Cyber Truck.
Me too! I see new model corvettes almost every day. Super popular :)
I see a lot of erays on the road but every single one is a manufacturer plate I don't think I've ever seen a customer car
Chevy: lets make an affordable super car
dealers: yeah about that
Nobody who is a real car enthusiast cares about EVs. We want loud noises and cars that dont sound like a vibrator going down the road. Super excited to see what they do with the ZR-1
Yes I see C8s everywhere! And I ain’t mad about it.
I agree even where I’m from in Maine I’ve seen a lot of C8’s. Poor man’s super car. The ZR1 is gonna be sick manual or not. If I ever get to see one lol
Here in Dallas I see tons of c8's a few z06's and no ERays.
Since the Ferrari 488 is a flat plane twin-turbo V8, and the fact that Chevy used the 458 as inspiration, I for SURE think they’ll twin turbo the Z06 engine. The 488 was already out by the time the Z06 came out, so it was probably their plan to turbo that bad boy from the start.
2:45 I see them everywhere.. I live near the biggest Vette dealer on the East coast Ciocca of Atlantic city.. I bought my Mustang there.. They had like 17 C-8 Zo6's and 60 Regular C-8's on site not including the 17, Z06's...
