Empress is also my favorite character her she is A very good person
in RL Empress Fuca was praiseworthy, even Yongzheng Emperor ("Bu Bu Jing Xin/Scarlet Heart"'s 4th Prince) was taken by her talents when he saw her as a maiden, hence why he betrothed her to Hongli (later Qianlong Emperor)

all yinglou wanted was to serve the empress, make her happy, and stay by her side. that's it. she would have been happy with that for the rest of her life, even if she never got to marry the empresses brother. but because er Qing got jealous and greedy she wasn't able to. i really decided I hated er Qing here
that's why her son Fukang'gan inherited her karma both in the sequel and in RL (he was eventually removed by Jiaqing Emperor in later life, despite rumors they were supposedly half-brothers)

I have watched the 2 contrasting series yanxi palace and Ruyi’s palace. The 2 have a great storyline but in terms of casting Yanxi is superior while ruyi’s palace of love the cinematography is far better and you see the emperor’s other consorts not shown in Yanxi depicted in greater depth. Between the two I prefer Yanxi more.
I also prefer Story of Yanxi Palace
Yanxi also has better pacing. And the depictions appear closer to their real life personalities
And most importantly Yanxi palace has a happy ending
I also watched both, the main character of Yanxi palace is headstrong, witty and decisive. She is ruthless but will not harm the innocent, in Ruyi's Palace, the main character there is very kind and that is her weakness. It has heavy drama that brought me to tears esp when her head maid was tortured and the guard who assisted her was turned into a eunuch. The emperor there was also very horny. For Story of Yanxi palace, I initially thought it has a slow pacing, bordering to boredom but thanks to that I had watched over 5 chinese drama series and I am now watching the promise of Chan'an. I like Yinglou's character, she is feisty.
It is great to compare and analyse Empresses ib the Palace, Ruyi´s Royal Love and Yanxi Palace. All these series are quite good, be it for the filming and the lighting, the costumes, hair decoration, the character development, depth of characters, the styling or the way the story is told. The Story of Yanxi Palace is the best of the three for me, I think because of the attention to detail in the costumes, and the focus on a character as Wei YingLuo. She was based on the same historical concubine as Ling in Ruyis Love. I think `we´ like Yingluo more than Ruyi, because most of us are not from nobility and other elite families, so we can identify with her, and admire her intelligence and cunning survival skills.

Yingluo did it to save Mingyu initially though
She didn’t become his concubine because she wanted to though. Even until the end of the drama, she never outright said she loved him. She probably did develop feelings though.
she initially did it to save mingyu, and take revenge on noble concubine chun. she had no feelings for the emperor then, but the emperor did like her. that was also why she refused to bore him children, until the day she completed her mission, she realized that she grew feelings for him over time.
She did that to save Mingyu and to revenge after knowing that Noble Consort Chun is connected to Empress' son death. She didn't love the Emperor but after she was able to seek revenge she grew her feelings to him.
In the series Wei Yingluo seemed to be content with her life at the quiet summerpalace. However, her drive and motivation was revenging her bloodsister. Only at the end she got that, when the rebellious prince was poisoned. The reason she wanted to go back to the palace was to revenge MingYu´s torturing and Empresses death. Her plan was to make the empress dowager happy at her birthday, by the birds- and fishtricks. Being succesfull in that she was allowed to ask for a reward. She wanted to return to the palace by becoming a servant to the empress dowager, because she would need a powerful, female backer. The emperor wanted to prevent her from getting an even more powerfull backer than the empress had been to Wei Yingluo. After all, the empress dowager is the most powerfull woman in the empire, in some historical cases emperor´s mothers were even more powerfull than the emperor himself. Once WeiYingluo was made a Noble Lady (she must have been one of many) in the emperor´s harem, she was caged, and at his mercy. She found ways to attract his attention, keep him interested, manipulate him and get him where she wanted him, in stead of repeatedly remaining a victim to his narcissism, gaslighting, cruelty and abuse. She got the revenge she wanted, and paid the price. She was able to make the best of her life in this golden prison, thanks to her flexibility, creativity and intelligence. I guess a life without the drive for revenge, spend with a stable, brave and loving man as Fuca Fuheng as husband and backer could have been more peaceful and more true to who she really was. But we don´t know ... It is very likely that she would grow into an affectionate relation with the emperor. After all, he was her backer, she was dependent on him, they had children together, and gave him a son. Wei YingLuo is based on a real concubine, who started as a household person. She and the emperor had an affectionate relationship, and her son Yongyan would become the next emperor. Being a Han-Chinese Wei Yingluo could not become an empress (only Manchu could).

No he didn't!!.... He used his status as the Emperor to separate them and then he basically made it so that she had no other option but to be with him. She had No other choice but to grow affection for him because once she entered the palace she knew the only way she would leave it was dead.

What episode is this?
I’ve watched different videos about Yanxi palace & most of the English subtitles make no sense whatsoever, they’re either too simplistic or they use the wrong words which completely changes the story. It’s so frustrating, whereas this video is so much better, for example the Emperor’s speech to Wei Lingluo was so much more detailed especially about the Fuca clan which I hadn’t heard before, it puts it all in context. It seems mandarin can be interpreted so many different ways, it depends largely on the skill & care of the person translating. Thank you.

Watch it on viki, not only are the subs there well translated, they also give historical and literary context when characters refer to certain poems or events in history. The subbers there are only volunteers yet the amount of work and dedication they put into making those subs what they are is astounding

So honestly she wasn't madly deeply in love with the general the way she made it seem like she had been pining for him and then this new maid comes along and gets his attention she was willing to screw the Emperor as well just to make her family move up in the social rank so once she got married to the empress as brother he didn't have sex with her so that she wouldn't had sex with the emperor but did she really have sex with the Emperor or did she use a he was drunk and make him believe that they had sex so who's the real father of her son
Sorry for spoilers here but she knew and purposely had sex with the emperor. The general never had sex with her before or after marriage so when she got pregnant with the emperors baby it was revenge in her mind
Erqing's son's father was Fuheng's Sickly Brother. Nothing happened between her and the emperor.
