  • In this video, I'm taking you along a quick ride into the town of Crescent City. A very beautiful small town to visit. If you love the beach, ocean view, this is one of the best places to come.

    THANK YOU.
    Small town with big History:
    Crescent City is the only incorporated city and county seat of Del Norte County, California. Named for the crescent-shaped stretch of sandy beach south of the city, Crescent City had a total population of 6,673 in the 2020 census, down from 7,643 in the 2010 census. The population includes inmates at Pelican Bay State Prison, also within the city limits, and the former census-designated place Crescent City North annexed to the city. The city is also the site of the Redwood National Park headquarters, as well as the historic Battery Point Light. Due to the richness of the local Pacific Ocean waters and the related catch, and ease of access, Crescent City Harbor serves as home port for numerous commercial fishing vessels.
    The city is on the Pacific coast in the upper northwestern part of California, about 20 mi (32 km) south of the Oregon border. Crescent City's offshore geography makes it unusually susceptible to tsunamis.[11] Much of the city was destroyed by four tsunami waves generated by the Great Alaskan earthquake off Anchorage, Alaska in 1964. More recently, the city's harbor suffered extensive damage and destruction from tsunamis generated by the March 11, 2011 earthquake off Sendai, Japan. Several dozen vessels and many of the docks they were moored to were destroyed as wave cycles related to the tsunamis exceeded 8 ft (2.4 m).
    The climate of Crescent City is moderate, with cool summers for its latitude as a result of intense maritime moderation. Nearby inland areas behind the mountains have significantly warmer summer temperatures.

    I've never been to that coastal area of California. It looks so beautiful and so uncrowded. I would imagine for anyone that lives there, they must need to travel outside the area for medical and hospitals, shopping etc. It doesn't look like there is much there, unless there is more to the city than we could see in the video. Still its a place I would like to visit, as I'm getting so tired of crowded overpopulated areas.

    I lived there for a little while 2009 2010 2011. Nice but you could pretty much set your thermometer at 58° and that's what it is all the time. Kind of cold and windy and foggy and rains a lot in the winter but the countryside is the most stunning you could ever see. Also Jedediah Smith State redwood Park is right up the street and they have some of the biggest redwood trees in the world up there they're probably close to 20 ft in diameter at the base.

      Really it depends on what you mean by diversity. First there are the tourists keeping some money flowing for a few months a year, then the few who were simply mediocre in the big city and have made something of themselves here in podunk, corrections officers and other government workers, then there's the poor, then there's the vermin. Pretty diverse, huh?

      They don't spend much on infrastructure here. The country has been hijacked by Wall Street, Big Pharma and military industrial complex. The government mostly works for them. Many people hold multiple jobs to survice. Be glad you are in Holland.

      No offense the Netherlands is less than half the size of the state of Maine (which is in the smallest region of the US). And no is not for all US each city/state have their own regulations, city codes, etc. As far as being modern there many cities than can compare to your one city Amsterdam.

  • @TimFromLA

    I'm considering moving up there. Still, I need to ask: would people accept me? No, not because of my ethnicity, but I am from L.A. In Central Cal, San Francisco and L.A. have a rivalry. Watch a Dodgers and Giants game, Lakers/Clippers, and Golden State Warriors.
    Would the folks in Crescent be accepting of me?
    I know this video is a year old, but according to the USGS, every city in our State was or is in a drought. I heard that your town has, on average, around 70 inches of rain a year. I monitor your weather and our high this past year, depending on where you live in So Cal hovered between the mid-90s to nearly 130F. I want to get away from the heat.
    I emailed a realtor, who said it was blazing hot at around 90. See why I want to move?
    Finally, there is the risk of tsunamis, and I would prefer the higher grounds. Are there higher grounds? What I see blocking the possibility of moving are the Redwoods. Areas like Hiouchi, though a safe place from tsunamis, can get warm.
    Thank you.

      @MaxTheDestroyer707 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@blanco-sanchez450 I don’t know but I’d assume so to a small degree however you have to also remember Pelican Bay is crescent city’s major employment center so you have lots of law enforcement officers and their families who live there which I’m sure deters crime to an extent.
