Hi V! Nice vid again. I'm also showcasing my village lifestyle on my channel. But I wanted to say I want the big yards to remain. You know they say white folks in South Africa in rural areas measured their land by not being able to see their neighbor, nathi bantu bakuthi kufuneka senze njalo. As soon as you get isiza/inxiwa everyone wants inxiwa next to you! I don't want that. I want to take a walk to my neighbor's house.
My husband and I came back from studying in United States & UK and we knew what we wanted to build in our village. We convinced the chief to give us the land uphill. The villagers were refusing and saying what we wanted to do up there and also told us we will be prone to lightning strikes if we build there. That was early 2000 and we still don’t have close neighbors because they are all scared. 😂. Clever right. 💪🏾.
@@VelileLifestyleDecorTV you got so lucky. I do have a neighbor, my cousin and most people ask me how I sleep on the side of the village by myself. LOL, we are so lucky. I'm on the side of the village just above the valley and fortunately won't have people below me.
I actually want land by the river and all by myself when I leave home to start my own. For now I'm busy with my Father's house even though I'm not the oldest son. I spotted the land I want where 2 rivers meet. My dream house will be built there with my private road to it.

Greetings Sis Velile. When I was growing up, my parents used to pay monthly levi at the tribal office. The money was used, amongst other things, to build amenities such as schools, creches and community halls. I'm am wondering as to why the tribal councils around the country don't collect levies for roads, storm water, public parks, etc. If the old tribal authorities were able to do it while most of our parents were earning small income, I don't see the reason why not now, when the economy amongs rural dwellers has gone up so much over the years. Thanks for the video.
The levies are still paid but on a once off basis when one acquire land. That is the money one pays to the chief and the chief takes it to municipality office to register you as an occupier of the land. The new system (democratic system) in line with the constitution of the country allows for road infrastructure etc to be done by the government these days. A lot clashes with the system because traditional authorities still influence how things are done in villages. Those with good and wise traditional leaders do collect money from villagers and put it into good use. My village does that .
