No doubt you’re the ultimate Simmons hype man. You’re so biased that I had to go do a bunch of research to prove your assessments are trash. Truthfully I found more critical assessments that didn’t slobber all over the Titan 70 however none of the other reviews contradicted anything you’ve said. So Mr. Hype-man I’m going with the Simmons Titan 70. Thanks for all of the videos, you really are providing folks with some great insights for buying drums.

I agree, we are looking for reviews that arnt biased which is the problem with youtube review searching. Others speak so highly of these other kits and when you have done enough research you realize that they are either sponsored or they arnt giving the right information hense the “overhyping”. Your reviews are definitely genuine and I have also used your reviews as justification to buy the titan 70 so thanks as well!!
I got a 1250 used only 2 months old and only played a couple of times for 600.00 im completely happy with that.

I recently just purchased a Yamaha 6 K2X drum set. These sounds are almost as good as those are. They may need a little work, but compared to other competitors out there, I think they are pretty darn good. I may have to get this kit just for fun once I can afford it.

Hi! I recently discovered your YT channel, awesome reviews and all, and also the Simmons edrums. Which brings me to what I wanted to ask. I am very interested in an electronic drum kit, specifically the Simmons Titan 70, but I wanted to know just how responsive the high-hat is, I mean, does it present the same problem of missing hits like you described in the SD1250 review or is that not an issue for the Titan 70? Good evening Mr. Powell. Thank you for putting out the videos on the drum sets. The videos are great. I have pretty much a two-part kind of a long question. First with the Titan70 is it possible to buy components separately? Then, would it be possible to use the kick tower from the Titan70 to use on my Titan 50? Also, for the kick tower on the titan 70 would it be possible to use of belt beater? I’ll ask this because the kit tower on my titan 50 I am not happy with it and I am not happy with the plastic beater that’s with it. Also, if I have to change the module, I am willing to do so. I don’t think there’s a “hard drive” but rather it has a certain amount of memory or flash storage. Hard drives refer to mechanical disk drives used in computers and most systems have migrated to ssd or flash storage now a days.
When you’re speaking live you often say something off…. That’s what I did and I won’t go redo the video for a simple slip.
I really want to grab this kit, but something tells me a Titan 180 or something is coming soon to replace the SD-1250. Especially since they’re on sale right now. Bigger pads? Bigger cymbals? Better module? Or are we going to see an acoustic hybrid? Probably not the latter, but even just an upgraded version of this would be dope.

I have a Frankenstein e-kit. Been building/modding over the years. I want a current set/module to record with but don't want to throw away my old (pre Allesis) pads and surge cymbals. I know I can connect my Allesis Trigger I/O to the midi in on the 1250, but can I connect it to the 70? I'm trying to decide between getting the SD1250 or the Titan 70. Leaning towards the 1250. Any advice would be appreciated.
Take one part to the store and plug it in and see if it works.. 🤷🏽♂️ that’s all I got. 😂 I’m sure it’ll work though.

Thanks for making this video. I just got my titan 70 earlier today and I've been really loving it! There are a few growing pains though for me since I hadn't played on a kit for about a decade, and this is my first electric kit as well. I've noticed that sometimes on the hihat and crashes that it doesn't like it very much when I hit the cymbals too quickly one after the next when it's at a loud volume. Like the hihat especially will go loud soft loud soft when I'm playing something a little faster in tempo. Is there any way I can adjust my playing or adjust the sensitivity in the app to fix this? I also tend to strike the edge of the cymbals with side of the drum sticks rather than hitting the tops of the cymbals with the tip of the drumstick. I found that the cymbals like the latter a bit more but it's not how I naturally played on an acoustic. Will I have to readjust my technique or do I need to do some app-side tinkering?
Also should I get a drum amp or is the bass amp I'm connected to good enough? What differences are there when it comes to playing through a drum amp and playing through a bass amp?
It’s electric so… yes you should tinker and play to see what works best… also you can wrangle the hihat to work the way you want… tilt it down to play the bow instead of the edges… it looks different but it’ll give the same sound as your expecting without changing the way you play. Play with the sensitivity see what setting is best. As to what amp is best…. What sound do you like? That kinda a personal question. If you’re playing at home for yourself… 🤷🏽♂️ what do you like. Now if you’re out with a band or in public the type of amp might matter more but if you’re just practicing…
I just ordered the Titan 70 from Musician's Friend and it says it's backordered for 4 months....after looking at every other retailer I'm seeing the same ship dates...a long way out. Did you experience this??

I've watched a lot of reviews of this kit and the one thing I keep seeing is that kick tower seems to move A LOT. For someone like me who would use this kit with double kick, I have reservations...any double kick players have experience with this kit?

Will the Titan 70 replicate the sounds that, to me, Simmons is known for? I.E., 80s Simmons sounds like Alex Van Halen 5150 album, Phil Collins (Genesis) Invisible Touch drum sound, etc. Can those sounds be loaded optionally, if not already installed?
I think they did just that. There are some 80s electronic sounds that I’m sure are vintage. Not to mention a could drums reminded me of sounds I heard from old tunes. So, imma just say yep! 👍🏽

few questions if you could answer that would be great.
How is the dynamic range, like can you tell the difference between a soft and a hard hit?
How is it out of the box? Like is it set it up and sounds like a real kit or did you do some tweaking?
I bought an alternative brand kit that sells around the same price point but it has no range, soft and hard hits sound the same, I can't hook it up to my computer, very limited sounds and I am not happy with 90% of them. and if I hit the high-hat and rim-shot on the snare at the same time it doesn't play either. The only thing good about my kit was the double mesh heads and solid rack.
I wonder if I picked up the Simmons 70 if I could attach some of the heads or cymbals from that one. The toms on it are single zone, cymbals are mutable two zone variety. I am mega drooling over the Simmons kits. I played one a few months ago and it sounded amazing with great range and felt great to play. Made me really regret buying a kit sight unseen from an online drum company.
A lot of questions 😂 I’ll try and hit most of them. In my video I try to give examples of loud and soft hits. I think it’s fine. I do not tweak the drums at all for the initial videos and if I do I explain what I did. This video is straight out the box! The reason most drums to play well with vinous their not mapped properly. I have a video on that topic in the playlist.

I love my SD1250 and getting for $849.00 I think I will stick with it. If I was gigging it would be great with the new additions but just playing to music at home it would be a little overkill for me.

Yes and no… you have to map the sound to it but it is mapped to the side of a tom out the box.
Do you think the hi-hat issue was fixed on this? Either this model or the TD 1250 can the cross stick click be done on the snare?

I haven’t noticed any issues with the hi hat and I’ve had it 2 1/2 months.
There is a cross stick sound on it! It’s on a tom not the snare. Since the snare is dual zone you may not want to change it since it makes the rim shot sound.
I also suffered with the sketchy snare with the 600. The 1250 does not suffer from this I can assure you. This set looks awesome

Overall, If you had to choose,(price not being the factor) would you take the T70 OR the SD1250? I like the SD1250 because it has a couple bigger pads. Now not sure which to choose. I have seen the SD1250 on Musicians Friend on sale for $999 plus signing up for their membership thing they give I think it was like a $100.00 coupon so when it's on sale i can or could of gotten it for $899

Definitely the SD1250. It is way sturdier than the 70 which has the same Titan 50 frame

Biggest complaint I have about my SD 1250 set is the rims are way too high. I have all but the snare rim turned off anyway and find that no matter how much I practice I trip over the rims, a lot. The rims on this set don't look much better. Can't understand why anyone would want to play the rims but maybe it's just me. Also, the 8" drums are too little and kind of suck. Love my SD 1250 set but a lot of room for improvement.
The rims on this are way lower. Trust me. They are the rims to give you more flexibility of music creation.
It seems your snare is bouncing way less than in the other video reviews i've seen on the titan 70....why do you think that is?
Possibly my snare head isn’t as tight as the ones you’ve seen…. Or they have better stick control than I do on my left hand.

Would the titan 70 be better for a beginner, Tom's look a little small,but I like the idea of Bluetooth aduio,and the additional teaching aids,1250 doesn't have this, can't deside,difference in a couple hundred bucks is no big deal,🤔
Any drum is good for a beginner but if this is in your budget get it!

so at 61 years old Keith, I have been considering getting a drum set, and have to admit that after the first week of research, I was under the impression that ALL E-Drum kits were silent when NOT plugged in?? Lol's I'm such a dummy. so after finding out this morning that it is not the case, i had to sort of start over. I came across your channel. I am wondering about how QUIET this Simmons set is when it is not plugged in? Have you played it under those conditions? I am in an apartment, but only have one neighbor, directly above me.
All you hear is the pads. Your neighbors won’t hear them. You have to have a headphone or speaker to actually hear the sound of the drums.

I'm torn between this kit and another kit, and one thing that makes me want to go with the other is the size of the drums. they look very small and I've always tend to play hard and heavy.

You have to look at the Titan 50 then. It’s a bigger version but it does take the triple ride cymbal and larger bass drum from the 1250.

It sounds fuller. Thats for sure.The snares of the Titan 50 lack some punch, for example . It has more sounds, and it has blutooth midi, ok. But apart from that I see it is the same frame and plastic hardware as the Titan 50. It is not sturdier. Also the toms and snare are the same size, and apart from that they now have rim response and 3-zone ride cymbal I dont think I would have stretched to $ 800 if the 70 would have been available when I bought the Titan 50. I like the loop function on the app. That can be added to the Titan 50 app.
I agree with everything except the rack is not the same size. It is taller. Not as tall as the 1250 but taller than the 50. It’s sturdy as well. I am still making adjustments to it but it’s nice. I wish the toms were larger but having them all the same size and dual zone is not bad. The fact that you get 4 and it still has 2 expansion slots… is a nice inclusion. The fact that you can split all of the toms, including the expanded slots, for up to 12 toms or more cymbals… with the 1250 you’re stuck. What you got is what you got. I’m not saying it’s better but I am saying I need more time to say that it’s not.
@@KeithronPowell Yes, I noticed it is taller, but that I didnt need cause I am not so tall. And since I am a beginner I dont miss rim triggers. I already have the expansion extra tom and cymbal. I really love the connection options of the Titan 50 and Titan 70 but just for the longevity if I had to choose between the 70 and thd 1250 I would choose the 1250. The 70 snare and toms look cooler than the 50s thats for sure.

I actually isn’t as it seems. It’s not as tall as the SD600 or 1250 but it’s not super low either.
The one thing you MUST demonstrate are ROLLS. Poor e-kits won't smoothly roll, it will be a machine-gun effect. Without demonstrating rolls on all the triggers, it's not a complete review.
Thanks for your opinion on rolls. I’ve done them on others and there isn’t a machine gun affect on this one. Now, I cut out some of my playing to keep the time and so a lot of that isn’t here.
I dont like symbol hi-hats. I like e hi hats look like real hi hats. So that only thing i dont like this e drums set. And no hi hats stand that dumb. What do u think Keith ? Do like that hi hats ?
I started playing and still own an acoustic set… I have no issues with either version on the electric set because I can easily move the pedal and adjust the cymbal separately.
