The rollers get old and hard and slide off the bearings or just crumble. There are 2 types of rollers flat and tapered the tapered ones go on the edges and the flat ones in the middle. If you roll them you will see which way the taper is and that goes to the inside. You can swap rollers from your roland cutter or printer. If you lose a clip you can use the spare washers if you cut it with a hacksaw and file the gap a bit you can put it on the groove and close it with pliers to get you out of trouble.
