Song: Kingdom of Bards - Adrian Von Ziegler - Zábava
Elves: What kind of elf do you want! You can be a high elf, intellectual and calm, or a wood elf, hardy and down to earth! You can be an eladrin, representing the four elements at your whim, or the sea elf, a creature of the ocean as others are of the land! If you want to play a dark and moody character, may we recommend the drow, or the shadar-kai? There's an elf for every play style and character archetype!
Dwarves: We have three subraces. One is evil and one sucks. Enjoy your decisions.
(For extra effect, read the elf section in Chris Traeger's voice and the dwarf section in Ron Swanson's.)
"Great minds think alike."
Or fools seldom differ. Take your pick.
Great fools think differ
Dumb man think bad
I will take my pick, thank you. And my axe too, if you please.
Fuck off Elf
I'm really enjoying the Duergar I'm playing, Gilthur Grudgeglyph. He's always at least a little angry, he suspects the worst outcome of most endeavors, loves to say "Ah told ye so", and has a tendency to shove people into one of his many empty sacks. Generally without their permission. Are you valuable to our quests? "Get in tha sack!" Are you about to get us into trouble? "Get in tha sack!" Do we need to sneak two people in somewhere? "Nope, nope, no fussin'. Yer gettin' in the tha sack!" He also likes throwing his familiar into the unknown and is very unhappy with the fact that this cat isn't as ferocious as a mountain lion. But he keeps conjuring a cat because he earned his start as a ratcatcher and cats were helpful.
I made a hill dwarf paladin named Ignatius for when I played in a mines of Phendelver campaign. He was a very optimistic character that always had a problem with decision making. For our final fight against Neznar he attempted to sacrifice himself to save the world from a magic nuke and miraculously survived in saving the world. Flash forward to when I’m running Rise of Tiamat with those same friends and all of them have characters tied to a character from the other game. When they walk to the Hall of the Lords of Waterdeep they are greated by an old senile Dwarf that looks to have once been a great warrior destroyed by age and is still the optimist, but now a tragic figure. In the Last season when the Great battle commenced and the players rushed to stop the summoning of Tiamat, there was the team from the first game standing old, but heroic as the elf and Human that gained immortality look like they have everything under control, the Dwarf is last seen fighting a Red Dragon, alone. When the players found his shovel that he used as his weapon, they broke down in tears as we mourned the death of Ignatius.
RIP crazy crazy dwarf grandpa
Clearly he got pissed and started boxing the shit out of the dragon, because based on that ending, neither him nor the dragon were ever seen again.
Because, as we all know, some dwarves have a predisposition towards shouting 'I'm gonna punch that dragon in the face!'
must've had just one final grudge to score within him to take on a dragon with a shovel!
This remembered me of old man scotman from samurai jack when he decide to Word bitchslap Aku no Matter the conseguences
TO IGNATUS!!! MAY HE STAND IN ETHERNAL GLORY AMONG THE ANCESTERS!!!
I said it once, I’ll say it again. Mountain Dwarf Wizard is an underrated combo. While you may not get extra intelligence that armor proficiency allows you to ignore mage armor as a “must know” spell. It’s oddly freeing. +the extra con from dwarves is useful
Thing is, you can multiclass very easily with 13 wisdom into Forge domain cleric and get Heavy armor + Shields and your shield or armor is +1. Since Wizard level 20 isn't that great, its a pretty strong 1 level dip. Plus healing word + guidance on a wizard is stupid strong. Guidance + all your arcana/investigation checks lets you do some stupid stuff.
Even more stupid, Guidance works on Dispel Magic, and you only need to make a DC 19 Int check to dispel LEVEL 9 SPELLS. Considering you'll have a base of 6 with 20 int + a nat 1 in guidance, that means you only need to roll 10-13 on your D20 to pass that check.
I've tried the very thing your talking about, a strong tank wizard dwarf, but it doesn't work unless your rolling for stats and get some good rolls considering the alternative is a single level dip.
@@archmagemc3561 In my campaign one player is mountain dwarf wizard with heavy armor profiency via Feat. He also wanted to be proper dwarf so he has strength of 16. :D Currently at level 6 and seems to enjoy he’s character quite a lot as there is not that many wizards with plate mail
@@MietoK I did the same thing but with a Warforged that took a 1 level dip in Forge cleric. I'm the tankiest member in my team.
Mountain dwarf + warlock (non hexblade blade pact) is a surprisingly effective. You gain the armour proficiency of hexblade (minus shield) but you can get some arguably better spells out of it
I’m in my first campaign right now (level 9 at this point) but I made a mountain dwarf wizard without thinking much about compatibility but now I can say you are completely right. I didn’t even know mage armor was known as “must use” spell for wizards until recently because of that proficiency!
hill dwarves get +1 to wisdom, not dexterity
FUCK
@@DavvyChappy love you daddy chappy,
I'm literally playing a Hill Dwarf right now, too. Either way, the information is still good. Just swap out Dex for Wis and the sentence works the same.
Was about to comment this *_*
+Davvy Chappy 10/10, DnD expert XD
I'm going to be playing a dwarf and to annoy people I'm going to have a French accent.
So a gully dwarf
You are evil incarnate, I love it
the most pansy sounding dawrf, make him a barbarian.
Mmm... That’s a grudgin’
Any true worshiper of fantasy dwarf knows that dwarves can do and master almost ANYTHING. So a dwarf could be almost as french as the frenchest seductor living in Paris! That'll impress the ladies, being such a cultured dwarf and all! Sure, it might anger some more conservative dwarves, but who cares when you've got a french accent? ;P
I like the dwarv's rule about nobles meeting the commonfolk, before they rule them.
Just finished playing Grimbeard the Mountain Dwarf. Very challenging roleplay, not made any easier by the fact that the party contained a frivolous, impulsive and meta-gaming elf. Finally forced to walk away when the elf decided it would be great idea for the party to become judicial champions for a notorious pirate and murder innocent gladiators they had never met on his say-so. Deciding his immortal soul, his seat in the halls of his ancestors and the honour of his clan were more important than keeping the elf happy he refused to take part and walked away to get on with more important matters.
David Hatch respect for leaving like that for the sake of a story
1:51 I got that Spaceballs reference. Also, don't Hill Dwarves have a +1 to Wisdom, not Dexterity?

@Davvy how you dare being a human? where is your honor!!!!
only scrubs pick human
KissedByFire16 I pick human. u r gey
Well in warhammer the dawi word for human is also the word for inferior.
@Girou The dawi word for human is the same for inferior and for elf is weak or frail so he is an inferior weakling.
i get the feeling the dragonborn ep is going to Dwarf this one in length
Yeah, it will be quite long
龙 is the Chinese word for dragon. It is pronounced _Lóng_
I found it funny :P
I like a dwarf who is constantly drunk. Carries a bag of holding and its filled with kegs of mead, a broken axe and a busted lute that he still tries to play because he thinks he is a great bard. In reality he sounds like a dying cow but because he is drunk he thinks it's a wonderful sound.
Fun fact, I actually played a mountain dwarf warlock specifically so I could get medium armor proficiency. His name was Galrock Honeybeard and he served levistus as his infernal patron, he was a slick ol' boy. One moment he's been putting on a laid back chill demeanor with the party, next moment he'd sneaking behind the parties back and cutting deals with shady people. I believe he predated xanathar's guide so he was more or less a hexblade before a hexblade was a thing in 5e, eventually became a levistus tiefling do to just being a general dirty bastard and pleasing his patron, it was fun to play.
Its always a good day when I get a notification that there is a new video on this channel. keep up the excellent work, which is defiantly Dwarf level quality.

Mountain Dwarf Armor proficiency can be useful if you’re playing a spellcasting class like Sorcerer or Wizard, and if you’re playing a melee bladelock that’s not a hexblade, even the strength can be useful. (I’m not saying it’s optimal, I’m saying it can work.)
My favorite is a mountain dwarf wizard with medium armor and at level 4 with the Heavily Armored feat to give you proficiency with heavy armor. Nothing beats a high ac tanky wizard with blur
This is a great, quick explanation of dwarves. Thank you!
Really a great and well-paced video!
Oh gods. Icewind Dale flashbacks. I can just see Bruenor swinging his axe screaming "For me father's father's father's father's father's father's...." and so on 😂
You forgot the gold dwarves. The most populous version of dwarf in the forgotten realms.
I've long-since watched all of your vids for their facts and details. I just watch them for the humor now!
hinga dinga durgen
Every common race and one uncommon race besides human is just this
Dark Elf: Drow
Dark Dwarf: Dueragar
Dark Gnome: Svirfneblin
Dark Halfling: WHY DONT YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT NAME!
I know only the “evil” elves are dark but it made more sense to explain it
Man, duergar are the coolest :) Can't wait to see your vid on them.
Dwarfs are just tiny Giants
By the definitions of the words "tiny" and "giant" pretty much all the usual races are tiny giants, so yes.
Funny, because Dwarves fucking hate Giants.
Super keen to see a gnome guide.
I made a Mountain Dwarf Fighter named Sabrakae(I know that's not a traditional Dwarven name but it's Dwarvish for Broken Gold and I thought that sounded awesome) for Lost Mines of Phandelver. He was a member of one of the original clans to strike the Phandelver Pact and grew up as a soldier(cavalryman specifically) protecting Phandalin. The day the orcs swept through, Sabrakae saw the unspeakable carnage and, when the line was all but lost and the cave on the verge of collapse, he gave into his fear and fled the battle. The orcs captured him on the road a day later, branded his cheek with an Orcish runic serial number, and kept him prisoner with the intention of selling him on the slave market. The other prisoners revolted though, and he was freed. He wandered for decades, doing nothing but drink and stew in his own guilt and misery, but met an elven cleric and Tiefling wizard who offered him a cut of their job in Phandalin and a chance to reclaim his honor.
He's the warhammer-swinging, alcoholic meatshield and occasional voice of reason and often persuades the party to spare the lives of enemies not determined to die. He's also a Cavalier now that he got his archetype and my DM persuaded me to have him use a Flail Snail for his mount. So that's gonna be fun.
Hill Dwarves get a +1 to Wis, not Dex.
1:51 Thats your roommate if you listen to what he says
Yeah Davy upload!
Obviously, Mountain Dwarves are all secretly Battleaxe Wizards.
It's the best thing ever when you ate scottish playing a dwarf and earn points by playing to your character
Dwarves I've played with/as:
1: hill dwarf werewolf paladin [my friend jojo]
2: mountain dwarf dragon hunter fighter [my father]
3: deep dwarf assassin [my mother's character who i played as for a wile] (i made him grow to giant size and eat a mindflayr)
4: Derro a.k.a CRAZY ASS DWARF wild-magic sorcerer [my favorite character who i play as to this day]
Aye, I focking love em wee lads
As to mountain dwarves being not great; I just created a wild magic sorcerer mountain dwarf who fights on the front line with green flame blade, booming blade and shadow blade. Both the strength and the medium amour are helping a lot. I have played her for one session and someone I play with is already worried that she is OP.
I saw that there's apparently a rule that allows you to choose another ability of the class options if you are already proficient with a skill by your race/background. That got me thinking about how to deal with armor/weapon proficiencies when you get it from multiple sources as well, such as the case of a Mountain Dwarf and literally any class you want to be as a Mountain Dwarf except for Barbarian >w<
Expertise!
Expertise is when you've developed for a long portion of your life with your particular skillset. Your arm is like an extension of the blade, armor of certain kinds is far more comfortable to you than any other, and you know the setup and application of tools better than the back of your hand! It would basically grant the following:
+1 to AC for armors, +1 to attack for weapons, and +5 to rolls using tools. Such benefits would be stackable (so another +1/+1/+5 if you somehow decide to take up a feat or another means of gaining that skill).
Its not a particularly massive benefit, but it IS noticeable, and stacks real well when you get involved with magic items and spell buffs :)
Am I the only one that contradicts sunlight sencetivity with a large hat, sun glasses and making my players put sunscrean if there not wearing to mutch clothes
rui rui Sunlight sensitivity is implied to be mainly a sight thing. So I’d just make my players wear special goggles or something when they are outside.
sunglasses
Well the disadvantage still will affect if their opponent is in sunlight
Invent a lower level darkness spell, that just makes it dimmer.
There’s specifically a magic Eyepatch specifically for countering sunlight sensitivity.
It's also worth mentioning that dwarves cannot have their movement speed reduced by wearing armor, meaning that the only downside of putting your wizard in plate mail they aren't proficient in is completely negated.
edit: scratch that, you can't cast spells in armor and suffer other drawbacks, but still worth noting.
@@eleanorrock8913 It's really not. All it's good for is dex based none spellcasters or for clerics dumping strength and using shillelagh.
Hill dwarf forge domain
Thank me later
But seriously hill dwarves make amazing clerics with the wisdom increase as well as resistance to poison an advantage and poison saving throws
Depending on what domain you choose later they can even add up to more resistance is, take the resilient feet with constitution and you have charisma wisdom and constitution as proficient saving throws
I have a literally played two Hill dwarf clerics with stupid high HP and ability to save on my concentrations bells, I think I’ve been the low-key hero of the party but I try to be in the background if I can letting the actual strong hitters get in their I just try to keep them alive
I've been tinkering with a Mountain Dwarf sorcerer idea. Sorcerer with Draconic Heritage (either White or Silver, depending on how I want the character to lean). All ice and frost related spells that one might master while atop a snowy mountain.
I like the picture of a elf playing ps3 with a dwarf
Mountain dwarf Wizard in medium armor though
Gabe Parada because suddenly the squishy dwarf mage has an ac of a tank. AND he shoots fireballs
@@SuaveNerd2000 original concept do not steal. /s. Yeah cause nothing is better than making your own Magical Half plate. I'm not there yet though. Only LVL 3 with that character
I'M currently considering my next character to be either Dwarf Bard Grappler or Dwarf Blade Fiend Warlock.
Michał UK you could try a dwarven hexblade, wielding an ancestral blade or might have been holding a cursed dwarven blade
@@SuaveNerd2000 warlocks are for short sighted fools

Me: “But what does that make the dwarves?”
Davvy: “ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Which is what you are about to become...” *Snaps fingers*
Me: Wait what the f- *Is blown away as sand*
I have a Hill Dwarf Monk, Werhuth Blackbrew. He is by far one of my favorite PCs Ive ever created.
Dwarf crafts are way better than other crafts
Elves would like to know your location
No dwarven sideboob disappointing
dwarf tiddies do be good
Play a mountain dwarf wizard, sorcerer or warlock. If you go pact of the blade without going hexblade (because maybe you like the other's spells better) you can use that bonus to strength and medium armour proficiency on the frontlines
Plus if you're a wizard or sorcerer you get free armour proficiency, and with 1 feat you upgrade that medium armour proficiency to also have heavy armour
“BROTHERS OF THE MINE REJOICE!”
That BFME pic in the beginning
All I'm gonna say about mountain dwarves: Phoenix sorcerer that grapples a lot. It's hilarious and pretty effective.
It took me SO long to realize, and it's so obvious... Duregar.... D'reg'r.... Draugr....
They can grow in size and turn invisible... They're Draugr from Norse mythology.
woah woah woah... hill dwarves get +1 to wisdom
I hate myself so i play a Kobold.
My friends are running/streaming a kobold-only campaign that they've been doing for about a year. When an entire party is made of 'bolds, there's bound to be some shenanigans.
Kobolds are just scaly dwarves.
Gabranicus That’s another grudge to the list
mmmmmph another daddy chappy upload yas
Me and my group had a hilarious dm who set up the meme for our champaign "Made of great dwarven quality"
The mans race!
hey Davvy i was wondering if you could talk about the artificer and your take on it?
0:13 That is the definition of my strength based dwarf valor bard
The funny thing is that he is Scottish as FUCK and when it was a really inspirational moment we heard bagpipes playing across the street so my dm gave me a point of inspiration
I feel that my beard is thicker than yours, that's all. Great video Davvy.
*WE'LL STRIKE OUT A GRUDGE FOR THIS ONE*
3:00 "Blown" 😏
0:18 But Davvy, they don't have enough!
8 of them are just the types of spells!
We need more like the War Wizard!
We need a BLOOD MAGE subclass for Wizards.... _Especially the Wizard!_
NO

I'm not sure of the exact correct pronunciation of Duergar, but I've always pronounced it like "Dwear-garr", as if it were German. "Dwear" like the word 'wear', and "garr" like the name 'Garth'. I also think it just sounds cooler this way. I'm binging all your videos right now, just thought I'd stop and leave a comment here. Thanks!
Anything that can don medium armor or has a natural armor makes a great arcane spellcaster.
Can you make a video about Goliaths ? I know its the one of the least used racer , but i didnt find any intresting video on them and i rly like yours :)
Dwarves are great, you cant change my mind.
If you want to drink like a dwarf just take a shot every time he shows an image from WHFB
I like your videos almost as much as I like your voice
Now with the release of tashas, you could make a mountin dwarf wizard, and change the 2+ str to int. now you got a wizard in medium armor
Pls do halflings next!
Still waiting on my Duergar guide, Chappy Pappy Pantaloons
Dwarves = crafters who do the same thing over and over again, but do it REALLY fuckin well.
Gnomes = okay this idea has never been done before, and it will be revolutionizing!......If it doesn't explode. IDK why it will explode since there is no gunpowder or magic involved, but I will find a way!
One little thing that won't be relevant most of the time but is still quite interesting: a dwarf's speed is not reduced by wearing armour they don't have the strength for. So even with pretty low strength, a dwarven cleric of the right domain could wear plate or chainmail and think pretty much nothing of it.
Did you just use Hephaestus from a Percy Jackson guide thing for one of those first pics? 🤔
Hey I want to make a subclasses of paladins for the dwarfs called The Rune Guard. The runes will act like magic, simple runes (which can be made in one unending line ) will act like cantrips, and complex runes ( which will require multiple lines to be drawn ) will act like normal spells. I already have a backstory for how the subclass came to be. But I don’t know how to acually make a sub class, can you make a video one that’s?
Fun idea.
Build a framework that's roughly in line with other classes(especially the Wizard...), then rigorously test it in various scenarios to get a grasp on what needs tweaking. Rinse and repeat until you feel comfortable bringing it up to your friendly neighborhood GM and testing it in a campaign.
Favourite short men
I think you mean Halfling
Wat a wierd way to write gnome
interesting spelling of goblin
I know *Xvart* has an odd spelling, but seriously.
Dudes, *kobold* is not that hard to spell.
Didn't know *derro* had that kind of inflection.

im playing a dwarf rn named Oak, and she's got the most gorious hair you've ever seen. She's also a spirit forger, if ya'll know what that is.
Some of the Eberron Dwarven Dragonmarked clans look cool.
I play a Mountain Dwarf War Mage for the armor proficiency and plan to construct a suit of Iron Dwarf armor with a variety of magical dwarfy ite.s
Good
I remeer when not knowing dwarf lore i home brew city dwarf to fill my campain. Premise was dwarven kind that grew u far from dwarven settelment among human and such.
* happy drunk Scottish noises by hearing an accent we know *
Mountain Dwarves are a feat away from wizards in full plate
Its all well and good until a Dwarf crossbreeds with a gnome...you don't want gully dwarves. Fun fact half-dwarves are a thing they just either end up as slightly taller, and less hairy dwarves or shorter, stockier and hairier humans who live like 5 years longer.
Dwarves are scottish because of Gimli and Matt Mercer
So could I play a dwarf gunslinger artillerist in order to create actual guns and artillery?
Can you do tieflings next???
Duregar are the best
Where can I find the picture at 2:15?
DWARFS!!!!! the best race
Serious question, how do dwarven cities handle sanitation? Where does all the poop go?
Wait, the noble dwarves trace their lineage back to the original blown dwarves? Just them? Then where did the rest of the dwarves come from?
I hate sunlight sensitivity I literally made a homebrew item that just gets rid of sunlight sensitivity.
Can you do a video on the warforged?
I want it
