He is the living manifestation of your choices having consequences and the only unique villain of the game series, with him being a more calmer villain than a 'survival of the fittest' type of bad guy (literally every Telltale Walking Dead villain besides the Stranger follows this motto).
It's a good thing that - in the REAL canon - Lee told Clem to give Carley her bag of magazines, right before he saved Doug. ;) However, if that was shown in-game, the lousy developers wouldn't have decided who Lilly blames for the motel's bandit raid (Carley or Ben), which is why it was dumbed down. 😁
