- Recently I won a listing on eBay for a large lot of 'untested' Apple iPods and various MP3 players. Do any of them work? Did I waste my money? Let's find out :) #Apple #iPods #eBay

PeckyPlayz what is “You You”?
Your vids are so great it’s crazy how you haven’t reached a million I guess people just don’t want to watch quality content
PeckyPlayz you stutter even on text messages shut up pleb
iPod Shuffle: The one that doesn't have a screen
iPod Nanos: The ones that aren't iPod Mini
iPod Mini: The one you properly identified as such
Would have been nice to see to what degree the other geniune iPods work, if they show up on the computer, or even if they still have music in them.
The black one is a first generation iPod Nano...
@@alexdhall That's right
I read it as iPod Nandos lmfao Nandos pizza
You know your iPods. Good job.
iPod Touch: The one which is iPhone without SIM card slot
Fun video! I was working for Apple from 2004 through 2011ish, and I cannot tell you how many fake iPods people bought in for service. It was a never-ending parade of knockoffs, some hilariously obvious, and some shockingly realistic. This video brought back some fun (and not-so-fun) memories - thanks for making it!
Watching this on my ipod shuffle

2:25 Pretty popular cheap and cheerful MP3 player back in the day. Coby made some reasonable quality stuff for a low price.
Jay G. Reasonably not lol
@@ivanv754
Coby was the shittiest brand.
"quality"
Coby was the shit you'd find in a Walgreens dude
Coby sucks.
please don't throw out the fakes and others see how they compare
Ethan D throw them away they don’t deserve to stay
Do a collaboration with Hugh Jeffrey and let's see how many of them can be recovered
also, DankPods
dankpods and hugh jeffreys = good choice
Dankpods + Hugh Jeffreys they all live in Australia!
Try opening a iPod nano
@@gamertygonl actually, don't try that
If you still have that iPod Mini, if you have a FireWire Dock cable laying around (And even better, with its 12v adapter), try plugging it in, and it might work just fine ! I saved 5 iPod (1 Classic 5th Gen and 4 3rd Gen) thanks to this, I bought them from a seller selling them as non functional at all, and just saved them all
It doesn't repair them. It just charges them quicker.
@@oliwier000b of course, but as I said, I brought back to life dead ipods with the 12v adapter. So it charges them faster when they are working properly, but they are LIKELY to bring back to life one that's not powering up
The reflection off the table was straight 🔥🔥🔥
RTX On
I'd like a dedicated video about the brick mp3 player, the mp3 player that looks like a GPS and the fake iPods, it'd be cool to compare them to the actual iPods too to see how well they work in comparison and what value they have plus if their storage is proper or fake, I'd love to watch you disassemble the big one cause it feels like there might be a mechanical hard drive in it or maybe some kind of big flash storage in it. Also would like to see you restore the ipods
This Guy Should Marry Eucalyptus oil
Me: finally a New vídeo without Macs
*IPOD JOINS THE BATTLE*
I remember that massive brick one @ 3:47 very well. It's a aldi branded medion knockoff of the iPod 4th Generation, release around 2005. They were 20GB and bloody ugly as sin.
Those iPad Mini are awesome. Usually, the only thing that goes bad (besides the battery) is the hard drives. If you get at folder with a question mark or similar, that is usually the case. You can shake the hard drive to get it working again. However, you can get a 128GB SD Card and use a CF to SD adapter to replace the mechanical hard drive. Moreover, it will slot right into the iPod Mini connector perfectly, without any modification whatsoever. Since the CF card and the Factory hard drive, both have the same 44 pin IDE interface.
1:27 iPod Shuffle.
Just in time! A new video of Psivewri!
03:34 Television with OTA capability
Yep, it says DVB-T on it so that's a giveaway it's TV related ;)
I had a 30GB 5th gen video iPod from 2006 til about four-or-so years ago. Loved it. But in the end the battery barely held its charge, the hard drive was old and smartphones made the iPod completely redundant. But I still kind of want one even today.
ipod mini 1g my favorite black glossy ipod
Its funny we all used to have MP3 players only to be replaced by phones and streaming music. My favorite was my Creative Zen Jukebox with a 40gb hard drive. I don't think you did too bad for 25 bucks, even if they are just display pieces.
Jerred's Tech Workshop I had a virgin mobile round MP3 player that you wore like a necklace
"I don't care about the old mp3 players"
Dankpods has entered the chat
Honestly, the only reason i always wathing your video is your voice. I like ur voice, so calm, clear, so good in my ear. love the way u talk.
You can try changing the battery's and flashing them with new operating system to see if it fixes them
Videos like this make me glad that I have kept all most of my tech stuff.
the video player is actually a mini tv.
there is a dvb-t logo on the front. dvb-t was (or is still in some countries i guess) an easy way to get a tv signal using a small antenna.
here in germany dvb-t was shut down a few years ago and replaced by dvb-t2 so the device would be useless here. since the US uses an entirely different standard it's probably also useless to you.
I thought this was dank pods for a second
Would've been funny if the last one was a Zune, and it enranged him purely because it was a Zune. 🤣
I remember the „brick“ you unboxed last, those were once sold as an offer at the German discount chain „Aldi“..
Still have my 2gb Shuffle from 2008. Still working.
Love it!
1:56 yes, I believe it was the first generation one
You can restore some of the iPods if you use the restore utility you can download off the old Apple servers.
Used it for.an iPod shuffle few months ago that I bought second hand. Only runs in Windows 7 though not windows 10 just be aware
The 1st gen iPod Nano’s are pretty rare these days as most were traded in for the iPod nano 6/7th gen because of the recall
I don't know if fulfilling a dream is ever a waste of time. Good work.
Have you managed to have some of these iPods really work? I once bought an iPad Air which had been put on a shelve for YEARS (a demo unit) and I had to plug it for 4 hours before getting any sign of life from it. So it might be worth plugging these units during one full night and see if they’ve come to life again by the following morning. Cheers.
2 videos in the same week!?
W H A T
The ipod mini should be easy enough to repair. you can replace the adorable hard drive with a flash storage device and find a replacement battery. Would love to see that in a future video.
Your videos are always a great time! Thanks for making awesome content :)
1st gen nano used to sell for $25-30 on amazon. I sold so many ipods there it was awesome until apple decided to put an end to all 3ord party sellers of apple devices new or old.
The infinity iPods
I just fixed my fake "SONY" branded MP4 player
Then this appeared as a notification on my phone.
I just fixed a Mp3 player and used my galaxy s10 plus to download music on it
Make a video on cool things you can do with your windows xp laptop
My man should definitely do a collab with Dankpods some day, ya know test some nuggets :)
You can fix and mod the iPod mini. DankPods showed how.
Psivewri i love your vids keep it up
The last one looks like a DAC. Probably has a built in amplifier to run high impedance headphones. If u can make it works it probably would have decent sound quality over those older iPods.
@ 5:09 The Black one that works it's an "iPod Nano 1 Generation"
In 2008 a friend of a friend it give me the same iPod with an broke screen an I keeped in a drawer and I just forget about it, then in 2012 I read about the "iPod Nano 1st Generation replacement program" and I think, (hey I have one of those) and then I take the iPod nano 1G to an Authorized Apple center and they took it and they give me one week later an a brand New iPod Nano 6th Generation for free.
And BTW I still using daily the iPod for the morning walks
Sadly the replacement program ended in 2017
i think you have best chance with the ipod mini be really careful with the ribbon cable for the click wheel but then youre golden, chuck a compact flash card in and maybe a new battery
Lol I just bought a iPod mini awhile ago I’m planning on swapping the drive with a CF to SD adapter:D
I’m jealous. Even if they’re broken, and fakes, it’s still a good deal.
3:35 I believe that is some form of mini television.
I like the way you explain, it is clear
That 1 GB one is the original IPod nano. There was actually a massive recall on them like 6 or 7 years ago. I think you can still send it in and they give you the most recent one. If it was in better shape, It might be worth holding onto for the collectors value, but with the recall the trade in might actually let you turn a profit off your $25
Can we all take a moment to appreciate how shiny the table is in the thumbnail?
the one that works is a 1Gb 1st Gen Ipod Nano
Hey psivewri coby makes good mp3 a layers just lettin u known luv ur vids
The small blue one is my first ever apple product lol an ipod shuffle.
The hefty one you unboxed last was sold at Aldi Germany at one point; the brand is the one they use for their computers and stuff..
I’m a fan of Brian and Stewie! Are you a fan of Brian and Stewie?
Loved it still
For me video like this is fun to watch because it’s like unboxing mystery item
I bought a 2009 Mac Mini Server Version at a flea market for 10€. The seller said that it doesn’t turn on. It turns out that it’s perfectly working, and it has a 500GB Samsung SSD and a Hitachi HDD, same capacity.
Then you got yourself a nice little machine for that money... Problem is, even a raspberry pi is faster for a lot of things, so what are you gonna do it with?
Walking POV Editing station using an old version of Final Cut Pro X. (I’m currently editing on a 2008 Aluminum MacBook)
@@falapu04 that's a good upgrade then :)
wow that´s cool even tho it´s quite old ^^
thespkr. I know it’s old, the newest Mac i own is a Late 2011 13” MacBook Pro, i have this from December 2011, and in 2017 decided to die itself. Literally. I phoned Apple and they said “this is a vintage model blah blah”, then i brought it to a friend. He repairs old Macs and discovered that the SMC has gone.
1:25 it is called iPod Shuffle
I got a tip get yourself a firewire from the 3 gen ipod classic that charger will make any ipod bootup without a battery.
I would think that untested doesn't necessarily mean that they don't work. It could mean something like the seller didn't have a cable or time to test them, so he just wanted to quickly get rid of them. So it may work or it might not. Too bad there weren't any ipod touches or classics in there.
Nice review :) I don't mind the fakes either, OK they're not iPods but they can still be used as MP3 players, and often have more capacity than the genuine iPods. Plus, it's always nice to see if anyone has left any music on these devices, as salvaging the music is always nice :)
Also, the last one that says DVB-T on the side of it isn't an iPod, not is it an MP3 player. DVB-T is a standard of digital TV broadcasting, so it might be a small pocket TV device.
Honestly if my parents would let me I would buy all the generic MP3 players for $10 from you.
Wow, a DVB-T mini TV?
Straight back to 2005.
Love the channel aha and collecting Apple products is my thing tooo ..
That screen with the blue buttons looks like a sat nav for a car but I could be wrong
Just in time better go viral please
Second
With eucalyptus oil
1:28 iPod shuffle
Please Upload Repair Video of These
With the black nano there is a recall and you could possibly get a 7th gen nana
Psivewri: I'm not interested in the fake iPods
Dankpods: Look at all these nuggets!!
I think that black MP3 player looks like a creative unit🤔
It has a Medion logo on it if you look closely
i love your work and your videos, please continue your great work.
that 1gb black is a first editon of ipod nano and its very very rare keep it its worth 10,000 $ so yea
be careful with the nano with the black spot on the screen. it can explode because the black spot is caused by the battery swelling and pressing on the screen!
To be Frank 90% of goods sold as untested are usually atleast looked over before being cast off as broken or they literally have such a big turn over that by the time they've gone though them all probably the margins for profit are small and not worth the hassle but I still say 90% are tested not working and sold as untested for a little extra mystery and a gamble!
The iPod mini would be probably the easiest to get working. and you could even put a large CF card in it as well.
That "Video player" looks like my nan's portable telstra wifi box.
Looks like someone's trying to hit that 50 video mark eh?
Please do a video on the bug bulky mp3 player it looks very interesting.
I got a Nano 6th Generation with a box, cable and new unused headphones, a watch strap and obvs the Nano itself. All for £18,
Holy shit! That first mp3 player you pulled out,(the white one) I had that same one! I used it every day for like four years until it finally quit on me. Good times
Great video!
Psivewri:Idk if i can fix these🤔
DankPods:MATE I CAN FIX THOSE WITH 2 FINGERS BEFORE YOU EVEN OPEN ONE
The small iPod that you call micro is actually shuffle
That small iPod is a iPod shuffle
That’s an iPod Shuffle.
1:26 its a iPod Shuffle
Nice vid again m8!
The 1gb is a iPod nano 1st gen and worth a bit
The black long one is nano 2nd generation
Wow I would love to see them all working
I had iPod nano (black) in white 2gb I gave it back to Apple a few years ago because they had the battery recall ( the battery was hot) and they gave me the recent generation iPod nano which was 16gb
Do the tiny squares is a little iPod shuffle
Amazing!
When I hear Nano I hear dankpad na-no
