ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a furry, wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. The Tanners offer him a home and give him the nickname ALF, short for “Alien Life Form.” Created by Tom Patchett (The Carol Burnett Show) and Paul Fusco (who also performed as ALF), the half-hour sitcom rose to popularity in the late 1980s, cementing itself in the pop culture zeitgeist.

I had this on VHS as a kid and I replayed it hundreds of times. This is so crazy nostalgic for me watching this at 42. I remember all the lines as they are being said & it's kinda trippy! This is an absolute classic!!! Much thanks for putting it on youtube

This Alf animated series is really interesting! They did a great job at bringing his home planet of Melmac to life!
I tell people that this carton was like an anime. The art direction, character design and world-building of Melmac were all top-notch!
Paul Fusco had a Ton of Ambition and Tons More Creative Control and Freedom with the Saturday Morning Prequel animated Spinoff of ALF than he did with the Sitcom. In a Cartoon, there's no logic or sense of Reality because its Fictional and make believe. Fusco was able to bring his Full imagination into the Cartoon, when he was just completely limited on the Sitcom with his Puppeteers and Props and that in itself made production a living Hell for the Cast members(NONE of them Enjoyed working on ALF), The Execution of the Saturday Morning Spinoff is Opulent. I should know, I watched it from 1987-1990 on NBC.

This is the first version of the song where the cats sing “melmatian race”. Paul Fusco later had it changed to “Melmacian”.

There's another one called 'ALF Tales' that inserts Gordon(AKA ALF) & company into pre-existing fantasy & folklore stories, like 'Jack & The Beanstalk' and 'Robin Hood'.

As much as I loved this series for its off-the-wall creativity and writing, it really disappoints me to realize this pilot episode was the only example of Rhonda's character development outside of being Gordon's satellite love interest-it all went downhill from there.
Ditto with Stella the waitress, who , if she wasn't just working at the diner, she was spending one episode pining for a guy with "lots of lint".
I love the theme it's pretty bad ass.
they will make cartoons about everything mortal kombat, highlander, back to the future, puny brewster and karate kid they should make a cartoon about family ties, charles in charge, full house and other cartoons

ALF-tastic!! I own the DVD's of ALF: The Animated Series and ALF Tales, but they do not contain all of the episodes. I look forward to seeing all of the episodes in one form or another now. Thank you so much!
And to think,...this was his life prior to his planet blowing up, crash landing on Earth and meeting/living with the Tanners.

Does anyone else wonder why alf's name is Gordon in the series?
Thats his name he's parents gave to him. When he crashed on Earth , Willie gave him the name ALF. Alien Life Form.
This is his real name.
He was given the name "Alf" by the Tanners.
But you find out that his real name is "Gordon" in some episodes of the original series.
Otherwise everyone in the series would be called "Alf".
