Awesome video. I have one of these for every door in the house. As a helpful tip - drill your hole higher up the post so you don't damage the little spring-loaded peg.
Thanks. I want to buy one because I’m moving into an apartment on my own. This upgrade makes me feel a lot better. Just gotta find someone with a drill lol.
Thank you! Great idea. I'm considering the upgrade. My notch point is very near the bottom 2 or 3. Very wobbly after 3 or 4 years of use. And doesn't remain in place sometimes.
Have you tried a square bail PTO lock pin rather than a bolt and nut? Stronger, very slightly larger, and no tools needed for installation/removal. Harbor Freight #60660.
If someone comes in your house when your gone and they find that they can take that bolt off and if you've busted the pin you can't use it at all. These do make you feel safer because they would make a lot of noise trying to get in. The inner rod should be made permanent not depredations from the outer rod somehow.
I've got a roof snow rack when extended is about 15-20 ft long. It had the spring pins. I did something similar.
