Homemade Camper Van Tour

- I just finished converting a 2011 e350 cargo van into a camper van. On our maiden voyage I shot this short video to show you the van and briefly explain the build. We're living in the van full time now, and will be traveling all over New England, looking for beautiful places to play and explore. Please leave a comment with questions or interest; I won't be able to teach you how to build one, but I can share what I learned for folks that are serious about pursuing this lifestyle. Thanks for watching!
UPDATE: We had this van for a year. We lived in it full time for six months, three of which were winter-time in northern Florida. I have a so-called learning disability that makes it easy for me to design things like this, but also makes it impossible for me to enjoy the regular challenge of finding new places to camp every week and other logistics. We loved the van, but we didn't enjoy the van life. My now-wife and I moved back to Massachusetts and sold the van to a lovely couple the following spring. I would never build a camper van again, but I still have the knack for design and I've carried that on to other, strictly smaller, projects. Thanks for watching! I wish you the best with your own adventures. - Auta a dopravní prostředky

I want to say great job on that build. I also enjoy the complexity of simplicity. This was a great presentation as well. Very entertaining and couldn't miss it once I started watching. Thank you sir!😃
I've watched dozens of Van builds, and this might be the nicest van build that I've seen. At least for my needs. And it's stealthy.
Great job bro and Thanks for sharing. We are in the process of finding our van and I keep coming back to the Ford e 350 so Im glad to see someone else was able to make due with a shorter van then extended.
Go for it! The regular length van is far easier to drive, and I think a trailer of some sort would be a much better way to make more space than a larger single vehicle. Just spend time really planning out how you're going to use the space in the van and you won't regret it! Happy trails!
Cool. That is a nice clean and tidy design.
One of the best simple stealths I have seen online. I lived in a E350 conversion for two years in the late 1980s, and it was more than adequate for me and a medium-sized dog. With two people, you obviously need to use and conserve space better than I did.
Very impressive build and beautifully finished. Love that you used hand tools. Thanks so much for sharing.
basic, has the necessities, something i can learn from - nice work! thank you for sharing!
Great job! I've seen a lot of DIY van conversions and I think this has some of the best simple ideas I've seen in awhile. Looks great!
Very nice conversion, not too much, nor too little! Very practical, shows that a lot of thought and planning went into this. Great job, thanks for the video. Happy trails to you...
Love the frig solution! Thanks for sharing.
Well thought out and executed. Travels in comfort, enjoy.
Very cool! Especially when you revealed the tools you used. Seems like a good way to make the build harder but...Respect!
The best layout I've ever seen. I'm going to copy this !
Wow, great job man. As I do my own van I admire what others have done and how they've solved different issues that come up.
Nice job, very practical; I dig it. Thanks for the tour.
I think that you did a great job on your van. Gave me some great ideas. Thanks
The van build looks great! What a fun New England tour you are going to have. Cannot wait to see content of adventures on the road. Good work on the video - nice tour.. - Julie
Thanks! Some nice ideas I may can use for my new van!
i dont know about the new solar panels but it used to be that shadows on the panels would damage the panels. tnx for the info as i am dreaming of living in a van full time.
The Summary of the tools you used resulted in a Nice Comfortable Van Build. Great Job !! Thx for Sharing. :))
Very nice job! With me, neatness counts big time! I like it. 👍🏼
I like looks of that wool covering the Luan. very clean looking.

Great layout! One of the best bathroom ideas yet! I loved it.
Good job on the van lots of thought went into it
You did a wonderful job on this build!!!! Very impressive. I loved the way you rounded the edges of the wood on the doors, the sliding doors of the storage spaces., Great Job!!!!
I don't know if you are a carpenter by trade, but you are very good at that kind of work.
You have built a van into a great home. If I were to live in a van, your layout is exactly what I would want. A place for everything, and everything in it's place.
good job on ur van camper build looking great I just bought my van two months ago so still in the works making mine inter camper some what lol as well good job keep them videos coming
Amazing design, It is truly one of the best I have seen.

Love it; thanks for sharing!
That is badass. Very impressive. I'm jelly
Very clean build. Looks great!
nice
very nice. Looks like great workmanship.
I love the way your floor shines with the linseed oil. I would have installed warm amber or yellow LED stripes to cover those edges on the roof, have seen it in other campers and the effect is great!.
pretty cool thanks for sharing
Real nice build! 👍👍
Best layout, think I'll have similar floor plan plan as well.
I agree, clean looking. I really appreciated seeing your vanfan installed without looking like Henry's roofing tar was used...Seems like I see alot of them that look that way, which no one would really see, however I guess I'm alittle ocd. Yeah too bad about that rack...it looks good and they are pretty useful I'd assume...
thanks for posting aaron! looks great... nice design. i'm in the process of a econoline build myself....and yes, love the japanese saws!
Thanks! Good luck on your build. Keep it simple and it'll be so much fun!

Plerk! Great word. Although work has such a negative connotation in my mind, I'm apt to just say "play". Thanks Myles!

Container for urine? proper term is piss jug. Lol, FINE JOB! nice build.
Nice share, thanx!
Very nice!
you have crazy mad skills dude. I've been living in and building my can since January 2016 and I had envisioned something like you built but I don't have crazy mad skills hahaha. I mostly head scratch lol.
I'm still head scratching! :D Just finished wiring the alternator to the auxiliary batteries to better keep up with our power consumption; it never ends. Good luck with your build! Happy trails, and thanks for watching.
Awesome Van Awesome video
Nice build! Thumbs up!
Nicely built 👍🏾💯& you're my next state neighbor
Nice clean build!
doesnt look like a van...looks like a house...great job !
Great build sweetie looks very nice!
Nice work.
Nice job.
Great job on your build! Subbed and thumbs up.
awesome van
yep! sliding doors... why lose space to the swing of regular cabinet doors. Very nice, and very neat.
Nice build and well thought out. When i do mine i'm going to build a bed like that or a folding one. I'm 6 foot 4 tall so i have to build length wise but i like the idea of open space when not in use.
The advice I got was to build a bed that's 4" too big, if you can. I did (being 6', I built a 6' 4" bed) and I can say it's spot on; if it was any smaller I'd be disappointed.
I have a 1998 Ford 250 extended van that I'm just in the planning stage. I am 6ft5in tall and have been looking at van mods for ideas. I really like the futon style bed and it being more towards the front. I appreciate the advice on extra length for the bed but another 4in in length means everything for the bed will be custom made, 6ft9in.😫
The solar power has me a little creeped out. I'll figure it out, just more research!
When you said you insulated the floor, what did you do? I too like the use of luann as paneling, light and allows some curvature. If you have videos of the build I'd be interested in seeing how the insulation portion was done.
Thanks for the video and a nice job in you presentation.
Very nice! That is the same make/model of van I am hoping to purchase :)
very very nice!
One of the nicest builds I've seen!
Great job!!!
Good job Sir
