Christ (Yeshua) could not have been born in the Jerusalem winter because in winter sheep were kept in pens. And there were NO shepherds out keeping their flocks in the winter! The sheep were turned loose in early spring to late fall (March - October) it was not winter when the messengers (angels) came and told the shepherds to go look for the new born baby. Christmas is pagan! A pagan celebration for the ending of the old year aka the winter solstice.

It's a Roman Catholic tradition, so it's paganism dressed in religion. If you do some research you will find that Jesus was born on September 11th. It's very interesting.

northern winter solstice is not on dec 25th as an atheist its my duty to look at facts and there is no evidence that there is anything pagan about this date.
you will never find a tree in a church or any reference to santa etc.
      do your research people!

I absolutely love all of the many world traditions of this festive time of year, from Advent to Epiphany, the Winter Solstice. I consider the holiday season to start back with Halloween, not Thanksgiving. I love the ancient traditions and histories from all over the world and how they have adapted over time and place. They are all part of the rich diaspora of belief and tradition. In their own varied ways, they all reflect different aspects of similar outlooks: family, friends, sharing, and looking toward brighter times and new beginnings. From the spiritual to the secular, I truly believe there is room for all in the wide and varied cultural traditions of this time of year. Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukkah, Blessed Yule and Winter Solstice to you all!

In some remote pagan faiths, Winter Solstice is an epiphany of its own: The awakening and rise of the Lady/Goddess of Winter and her consort, the God of North Wind with the rise of the Equinox sun. Prayers and offerings of milk given to the divine couple as they start their journey across the world.

CHARLES SPURGEON SERMON ON DEC. 24 1871
“We have no superstitious regard for times and seasons. Certainly we do not believe in the present ecclesiastical arrangement called Christmas. First, because we do not believe in the mass at all, but abhor it, whether it be sung in Latin or in English; and secondly, because we find no Scriptural warrant whatever for observing any day as the birthday of the Savior; and consequently, its observance is a superstition, because not of divine authority. Superstition has fixed most positively the day of our Savior’s birth, although there is no possibility of discovering when it occurred. … It was not till the middle of the third century that any part of the church celebrated the nativity of our Lord; and it was not till very long after the Western church had set the example, that the Eastern adopted it. … Probably the fact is that the “holy” days were arranged to fit in with the heathen festivals. We venture to assert, that if there be any day in the year, of which we may be pretty sure that it was not the day on which the Savior was born, it is the twenty-fifth of December. Nevertheless since, the current of men’s thoughts is led this way just now, and I see no evil in the current itself, I shall launch the bark of our discourse upon that stream, and make use of the fact, which I shall neither justify nor condemn, by endeavoring to lead your thoughts in the same direction. Since it is lawful, and even laudable, to meditate upon the incarnation of the Lord upon any day in the year, it cannot be in the power of other men’s superstitions to render such a meditation improper for to-day. Regarding not the day, let us, nevertheless, give God thanks for the gift of His dear Son.”

What Does the Bible Say About Christmas?
      The Bible's answer
The Bible does not give the date of Jesus' birth, nor does it say that we should celebrate his birthday. As McClintock and Strong's Cyclopedia states: "The
observance of Christmas is not of divine appointment, nor is it of NT [New Testament] origin."
Instead, an examination of the history of Christmas exposes its roots in pagan religious rites. The Bible shows that we offend God if we try to worship him in a way that he does not approve of.-Exodus 32:5-7.

I think when it comes to the matter of observing days or not, Paul said it best in the 14th chapter of Romans. "14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks."
I am fully persuaded to keep Christmas (whether it be his actual birth date or not because I have no way of knowing that), and regardeth it unto the Lord.

It matters because it injects idolatry and error into the true message of JESUS CHRIST GOD THE SON. Man is lost in sin and headed to the lake of fire. GOD came to earth, taking on a human body to die in our place as a sacrifice to pay for our sin debt. So now all who believe in the death, burial and resurrection of JESUS CHRIST will have eternal life. That's why it matters. Have fun if you want but don't confuse Christmas with JESUS.
