A. K. A: "Orpheus making promises he can't really keep for 3 minutes"
aaack Orpheus you had ONE job
I guess he took a page out of Cogsworth’s playbook.

"The birds will make the wedding bed"
One act later
"Yeah best I can do is eternal damnation 🤷"
I mean they DID get married, we maybe didn't see the wedding but I kind of picture this as being a time-bending type song where they're both planning and doing it at the same time; there's no reason to believe any of this didn't happen. (That said, I've only listened to the soundtrack, so maybe there's something in the show to contradict this)
I feel like I should mention that the first two verses Eurydice asks Orpheus more theoretical questions about their marriage like “if you’re able...” but after she hears his song she switches to “WHEN we’re wed” like the song convinced her to marry him ahjskslwosksnmakdicis
i think that everybody would marry Reeve Carney only for his voice
Sofy Retamar alv accurate
Yeah, exactly, the first two verses are quite mocking, like she doesn't believe him and she's testing him.
I mean
I would too if I heard that
It totally did
Orpheus : * shows off singing skills *
Eurydice : So who's gonna make that
wedding bed? 😏

@@jshankar2391 well someone hasn't seen the choreography for All I've ever known
@@jshankar2391 ....sorry to break it to you but...uhm... those two lost their "purity" the summer after they met soooo
XD
I’m 99% sure they... lost that purity in All I’ve Ever Known.
When Eurydice asks: "You wanna take me home?" and Orpheus goes "Yes" you can tell by Reeve's voice he is smiling and super shy and silly happy. It's cute =P
I flush with him
In the shows I've watched, Eurydice also punctuates that line by coyly showing him her bare shoulder. It's ever so slightly suggestive, and just really adorable.
Wait Reeve plays Orpheus?! I thought he was played by Aaron Tveit
I love how soft their voices get @1:49 when Eurydice asks "you wanna take me home?" And Orpheus responds with the most genuine "yes," so much so it almost sounds like it catches Eurydice off-guard.
Also, can I just say how happy I am that they decided to include the bit where Orpheus sings part of his song for her? That wasn't in the original, I don't think it was added until London (though I may be wrong about that,) and I'm just so glad they included it because it adds so much to the scene as a whole.
i lowkey want a hadestown-themed wedding
Yoooo this would look super cool tho
Do you want your marriage to get cursed?
Margarida Bento but the AESTHETIC
All you got to do is be natural
Go marry a theatre kid and make this your first dance while both of you sing it
Frozen: You can’t marry a man you just met.
Hamilton: *Helpless laughs nervously*
Hadestown: *hides wedding bands*
Edit: omg this the most likes I've ever gotten
Edit: sweet fuck *100*
Hey, in Helpless, they court for a while before getting married

Dude the original cast recording is kinda meh, you should listen to the original broadway cast
This song is so beautiful, Eurydice teasing him and Orpheus being beautifully earnest and shy and asdfhjkl I live it
every time i hear another way in which orpheus’s motif is added to another song, another year is added onto my life
This was key to my bi awakening
I already knew I was bi when I first heard it, but I'm convinced that I get more bi every time I hear it again
this is actually the first song in the show that captured my heart so I'm so happy to hear Reeve and Eva's version FINALLY
Watched this before the copyright people strikes
I want to find a guy who knows the musical, and genuinely loves me, and we sing this too eachother.
Too bad I know that won't happen
You can always pretend you love someone
I really love how this song It's structured, It seems like reading an old fable.
what’s this? reeve and eva won and now own my heart? you may be right
I love the Yes after Eurydice says you wanna take me home. You can tell that he means it and he is totally enjoying life right now
And I thought the lalalalala was intense in "Epic III"...
This is literally the cutest song I really want to just play this on loop in my head
im sobbing i love them so much
Y E S S S S my favorite song finally here
I'm gettin' Burton's big fish vibes here, and I love it even more
I'm gonna cry now
1:57 is the best
someone buy me tickets to hadestown pls i will sue you all

lmaoo 😂
Anyone else obsessed w this song after the boston showing?
I didn’t feel right for after Eurydice asking Orpheus what else he’s got, for him to not have sung next. Shouldn’t he have responded to that? I’m in Australia so I’ve never seen the musical, so I could be wrong. There might something actually said between these 2 songs. If not, my point remains.
Also what actually happens in the musical to which she reacts with how did you do that? What do they do that she’s impressed by
orpheus in the previous song gives her a paper flower, in this song after the la la la that flower transforms in a real flower!
there is a few unofficial recordings of the musical around on youtube, if you'd like to watch it (a few details from the lyrics make a bit more sense when along the visuals)
-oh i like the vocals in this
-this is so sweet

-oh I kind of don’t like that...
-no
-okay the las at the end are good but I didn’t like how they started
