    Just another thing from an electrician who’s been around for 45 years or so, I never turn off a main breaker with loads on it, every time you exercise a breaker with a load on it there’s gonna be a good sized arc inside that breaker.
    So to minimize any excessive damage to large breakers, unless it’s absolutely necessary to flip that large breaker with a full load on it, I always turn off the smaller loads first and then cycle the big breaker.
    ⚠️ And one more safety tip:
    Breakers are made out of hard plastic and can crack if there is a failure of this breaker while you’re turning it on or off that energy can flash out of the panel straight at you, just go look at arc flash accidents on CZcams ⚡️💥
    So for safety reasons, you always stand to the side when you’re flipping breakers and look away because you want to save your eyes at the minimum, thereby if anything goes boom it’s going to blow out the front of the panel, but not straight into you, stay safe out there and let’s push these manufacturers like the Hyundai iconic to make them all accessible for 110 V or like the lightning pick up truck or other vehicles all EV should have 110 V power available 15 amp circuit.

      Good tips, man! I'm *shocked* about some of these tips. See what I did there? 😃 Are there any specific gloves I can wear to protect my hands when turning off breakers? Like Klein Tools or something?

    • @shockingguy
      @shockingguy Před 27 dny

      @@VishalRaoOnCZcams well if you really wanted to protect yourself, you would have to buy some expensive electrical gloves, but if your hand is in the way of the breaker, I’ll good pair of just heavy leather gloves is the best you can have. You’re not touching stuff you’re just trying to protect your skin, actual electrical working gloves are two pair of gloves, an inner rubber pair that you have to keep in a safe bag from puncher and dirt and nonsense with leather over gloves you can look them up just look up like lineman gloves, just to protect yourself, you’re doing thatand you want to feel more safe just some heavy heavy leather gloves if you want something longer than get a welders glove, they’re just not good for much else except Welder working with like heavy brush or something

It sounds like Foundation Series owners can get mixed results depending on where you live, regarding the powershare being installed. What was the difference between your previous tesla charger and the one that was installed? How do you know if you have the right charger already?

    Lots of good info in this video Chris. Thanks for sharing. The community knowledge-base definitely increase with the info here. Especially the Q&A at the end.
    My Tesla solar and PowerWall system gain features that was never conceived when it was commissioned years ago. That’s one of the cool things with Tesla, they add more features. Looking forward to seeing what more the CT to home integration can gain.
    One thing I would like to add with having the CT acting as a portable PowerWall is instances where power is down and PowerWall wasn’t able to charge from solar due to a storm. You can at least drive the truck to a charging site that still has power. Then bring that power back home to power the house through the night.

    This is by far the best feature of the CT, which is basically a rolling powerwall/generator. I hope Tesla enables/adds this feature to the rest of the lineup (as I own a Model Y and Model 3 w/a CT on order 🤔).
    Everything is running off the main panel (which makes the install easier). Awesome setup 👏🏻👏🏻.

    Not lucky enough to have electric dryer outlet as it’s gas. But the breaker is right next to the car so if I had your charger I could put it in quite easily and in my present situation it’s the only way I could afford it. The standard house outlet charging is killing me. Local to you and can pick it up.

  • @TypicalBlox
    @TypicalBlox Před 2 měsíci +2

    I don't know why home batteries are so expensive, the F-150 lightning costs like $45k now but has the equivalent of 8 - 11 Powerwalls which would be about ~$90k but you get an ENTIRE truck alongside the backup power. The same is true with the Cybertruck ( however Cybertruck is more expensive ).
    I understand that home-batteries do work better with Solar, power more things, and work more seamlessly integrated with your home. But I just don't get where the expensive cost is coming from.

    Excellent video Chris! I have a question I haven't been able to get an answer to and I'm wondering if you can ask Trout about it.
    If a customer has an already existing solar and battery backup system for their home that is NOT made by Tesla, such as Enphase batteries in my case, can I still get powershare to work after taking delivery of a Cybertruck if the electricians add the Gateway and universal Connector to my existing system?
    I'm sure many other people are in this situation as well and it would be strange if the homeowner couldn't buy and use powershare because they have another brand of batteries for home backup. Thanks for any input you may have!

  • @Jaw0lf
    @Jaw0lf Před 2 měsíci +1

    So a 19% share of your Cybertruck battery was giving you a days worth of home power. Just to put into perspective that must be around 60 miles of driving, so demand and draw on the battery is much lower than the load for driving.
    Great to hear that Tesla are looking to add more functionality and that if you have a Powerwall installation is simplified. Hope that this can be rolled out to other Tesla models.

    You may not of noticed or it may just be the filming frame rate but when the truck is powering your house and the green light on the wall connector shows it charging it is actually going backwards. On mine the green light goes from the top of the charger down to the cable when charging signifying that the power is coming from the charger going to the truck. It looked like your charger was going from cable or the bottom to the top signifying the power coming from the cybertruck going into the home. Just another neat feature along with the purple on the truck and charger.

    Looks like there's still a lot of work needed for PowerShare to match the capabilities of a Powerwall installation. As it's implemented now, CT with PowerShare will unlikely take away market share from Powerwall. Maybe that's by design, especially since PowerShare supposedly works with any homes with Powerwalls.
    It would be interesting to know if Tesla will allow PowerShare to participate in VPP and send stored power back to the grid during extreme demand periods in the future. Perhaps that's possible for homes that already have Powerwalls?

    Hey Everyday Chris. I’d love to grab that charger off you. Here’s an idea. I live in Vancouver BC. Do a road trip down here. It would make a great CZcams vid.

    Sure I'll take the wall charger and that old solar Edge inverter that you want to get rid of when you do the next update. Maybe it will motivate me to buy a Tesla. I dont think elon will let me design the Tesla CR yet. I keep sending a few ideas. One i sent today. Need to be able to charge at higher amps and dc direct i am adding at amps i choose and at times i want. From solar or from dc on battery.
    I was trying to find someone that made a home diy super charger. . Its like youtube is hiding these videos. ?? Maybe need to look on musicly?

    I just watched this video, and you mention in the video you are getting rid of the current TESLA wall charger and to subscribe and leave a comment if interested. I do not currently have a tesla wall charger and am very interested. I Love your videos. Bought my first TESLA model Y performance in April. Your videos have helped me to decide the best settings, accessories to get and helped me to understand the ins and out of charging when going on a long road trip, which I plan on doing in the near future. Thank you! Keep the videos coming.
