Here's a little advice: in the vehicle building screen, use the CONTROL tab to adjust the controls of interactible parts. You can change the Channel they work on and, if you set two or more in the same channel, they all activate at the same time. SUPER useful for when you connect two or more pieces that need to move at the same time.

I think it would be awesome of you planes astroneer! It feels a little bit like infraspace except you play in third person and you are alone on the planet!
To answer the (question? uncertainty? simple lack of knowledge?) about the fruit outside the habitat: Rotting is almost entirely the result of bacteria feeding on organic materials, and bacteria need oxygen to survive, so putting fruit in a low-atmosphere environment like the surface of Mars would in fact preserve them, rather than rot them. On top of that, the surface of Mars is generally *very* cold, which bacteria also don't like. All in all, putting your oranges out the door on Mars would be like sticking them in your Freezer but even better.
Yeah but the average temp of Mars is well below freezing, so they would get mushy when the water expands into ice and breaks up the cells. You could still have some great orange juice though!
@@kdawg7695 that would depend on where exactly on Mars it is. Some warmer places would result in that because it would take longer for the water to freeze, resulting in larger ice crystals dealing more cell damage (and as I understand it in some places in broad daylight it doesn't even get cold enough to reach the standard freezing point, the high end on Mars can be as high as 70F (20C). In other circumstances though, the low end caps out not that much higher than liquid nitrogen. At that level of cold, the water in the cells should freeze fast enough they don't have time to form large ice crystals, and that would keep cell damage to a minimum, resulting in relatively "fresh" frozen fruit.
I would really love to see you doing a more "serious" run at KSP and make an orbital space station (whichever shape you want it to be ...) or even colonize another planet.
When I watched first minute or so of this video I had a deja vu experience and I was kinda right - RCE made a video from this game some time ago and now he started again doing the same beginning things... Progress reset occurred.
Pretty sure the oranges would pretty much immediately freeze dry. The mars atmosphere is 100+ times thinner than earth. The atmosphere is thicker around the ISS than the atmosphere on mars.

If I remember correctly oxygen makes a fruit get ripe that’s why stores store fruit in N2 rich containers to force out and prolong the life most fruits won’t rot if they don’t get ripe but they do enter this weird rubbery state that you can taste on fruits that have been stored for long periods of time. I can be misremembering it so if you know educate us!
