He's basically putting his right hand into his pocket when he sets up that uppercut. Everything looks very stiff and wound up too much. He looks like a new guy punching mitts within his first few months of training.
Charlie is such a dedicated actor and is not afraid to put in the hard work be it physical or emotional. I really hope he doesn't come to regret making the decision to spend a whole year making this Disney + version of DD.

according to Chris Brewster that is how they are shown to hit for tv purposes. They have to throw a looped punch so they don't hit the other stuntman or actor. If you watch a lot of action shows they all throw the same style of punches.
