What a great upgrade to make Tesla even better , great explanation and detail on installation and what to watch out for
Appreciate your comment.
Thank you for watching and your awesome support!🙏😃
I have been considering buying a upfront display for my 2019 M3 SR+. For sometime. I've found some display to bulky looking and some too pricey and one other which plugged into the OBD just too small and simple. this one seems the right size and price point, and most of all has a lot of nice features that you have demonstrated. I agree the Autopilot indicated would be a nice addition perhaps they will include that in their next software upgrade, let us know if they do. Therefore, based on what I have seen here I would put this at the top of my list for display purchase. One question, in my 2019 M3 where do I plug into the CAN? Thanks for you informative video on this topic.
Appreciate your comment.
I reached out to Teslasy and they said they will release improved version with autopilot compatibility hardware and software in December.
I never test it on 2019 Model 3, I would try to check the rear center console like you see in the video if it has the same connector.

Thanks for the review. I’ve watched a number of your HUD installs and reviews. Based on that I just purchased the Teslasy 9.6” for my wife’s Model Y. ThinkI’ll keep it under wraps and install it on Christmas Eve and let her “find” it.
Appreciate your comment.
This would be a wonderful surprise for her!
Thank you so much for watching and your awesome support!🙏😃
Awesome, I don’t mind those goes onto steering wheel but it’s too much for DIY install.
This is cool, only if there’s some kind of in between, the previous dash version isn’t too bad.
I think it’s the perfect time to do it when Model 3/Y LED interior trim is also available.
Agree, this is definitely easiest instrument cluster display to install so far.
Since it’s attaching to the dashboard I think it will be easier to adapt to fit the newer car.
Thank you for watching and your amazing support!🙏😃
Very nice video. Great job. Thank you I have a different device that puts CarPlay on the main screen when it works. It’s fantastic however, a lot of times it doesn’t connect. How is the performance of this device?
Appreciate your comment.
It’s been couple weeks now since I installed it and never have any issue with my iPhone connecting to CarPlay yet.
It’s been very smooth so far.

I just ordered mine with your discount code with the AMD processor did I get the right one because mine is a 2023 model 3 Tesla . Also how do I reach out to make sure I get the same SD card update so I can change the PSI and miles
This looks great, @dadstoys&car do you have anything for car seats? I am experiencing lower back pain and sciatica coming back after driving my new model Y purchased for over a month now
Appreciate your comment.
I never have a chance to actually test any of the seat back support yet. I can’t really tell you which one is good.
If I ever find good one I will let you know.

Hello, I just tested the screen. It looks great and works well. The only thing is that when I'm using the Adaptive Cruise Control (AP), the speed up and down wheel also moves on Android Auto. Is this normal? Shouldn't the steering wheel controls be disabled when in AP? Do I need to update the screen or configure something?
Thank you.
Bought this after watching this video. As mentioned in this video, PSI is not shown. Can I get the updates in an attachment? Also, I have an hotspot in the car and when I enable carplay, my phone disconnects from the hotspot which made hotspot useless. Is there any update to connect my phone to hotspot while using carplay?
Fine video. Thanks!
Appreciate your comment.

@dadstoyscars is the old UI upgradable to new UI within the same unit? Or are they 2 different device versions?
Thanks for the video, I just bought mine.

I like this display a lot more than I thought.
I was skeptical about the wire before installing it but after I’ve been using it a week now I didn’t really see it at all while driving.

The best one I’ve seen so far. More like my S. I’ve ordered the new 3 highland model LR. Do you think (or know) if they will bring out similar or better for it?
Appreciate your comment.
I hope they would introduce new 3 here in US soon.
I not sure when will aftermarket part will be ready for new 3 but I’m sure there will be soon.
Thank you for watching and your great support Martin!🙏😃
the best company to get after market Tesla items from is Yuxi Space. They also have a really cool rear wheel drive mirror that has front camera and rear camera built in .
Also they need to add streaming front camera , blindspot ,Ota updates , have cell connection so you could do car updates and longer cables so you could hide cables inside the trim besides what you said ......this might be a good passenger side display so they could connect through carplay or auto while adding a primary display for driving that would have everything but car play or android auto
Appreciate your suggestions.
These might be possibility that they could add some of those functions in the future.
Thank you for watching and your great support!🙏😃
Finally! This is what I've been waiting for, thank you. And, just in time for Xmas! 2023 M3LR

So, received it! Installing right now!
Have they fixed the voltage issue? people said these were smoking and burning out... also can you still not change the color of the car??
Hi, I watch your videos, it's very informative. Question from you. Have you connect in rear of your tesla to get power more then 3 units. I have a neon light, the front display and the rear Entertainment.
Appreciate your comment.
I have not tried to connect 3 different devices to the rear OBD port only 2 devices. I wouldn’t want to hook up too many devices to it.
Thank you for watching and your great support!🙏😃
Now that i have used the display for a few weeks....i have stumbled upon a few issues that i cant seem to resolve.......1. when i use the steering left scroll, the music control skips 2 songs each time
2. when i adjust the carplay music volume from the steering wheel, it adjusts correctly and i can also see the volume adjustment happening on the tesla screen. However when the navigation directions are spoken, they are not idependant to the music volume. If i increase the volume of the navigation when the navigation is active, then the music volume becomes too loud and if i reduce the music volume the navigation volume becomes too low. It seems that the nav vol and the mucis vol are some how linked and not separated. The catch is that if NO music is playing, then i can adjust the navigation volume correctly, however when i start music then it seems to override the pre adjusted navihation volume adjustment.
Have you noticed these issues too or is this only on my end?
Did you ask them about the auto pilot markings, warning, and blind spot monitor?
Appreciate your comment I will try to reach out them and if it’s possible to add those features.
Thank you for watching and your great support!🙏😃
Coming from a 2020 Model S to a new Model Y, I suspect one feature of the S's dash that i will miss is the energy graph, which shows both instantaneous power consumption, as well as a graph averaging the last 30 miles. Can this unit display that? Viewing your demo, I don't think i need to look at tire pressure or the setup menu icon continuously while driving; it would be nice to have something dynamic, like energy graph in its place. Also would miss autopilot status or blind spot warning.
Appreciate your comment.
Unfortunately the main UI can’t change to show different info.

I just reached out to Teslasy and they said your car should have rear center console OBD port but I would suggest to actually check in your car before you order it.

Great video! I have 2 questions: Q1. My carplay does not stream sound to model y. How can I fixed it? I tried switching between local horn and the original bt, it didn't help. Either no sound or the music just plays on the iphone instead of Tesla. Q2 How can I upgrade the firmware? I couldn't find the texbao website. Thanks!

You should be able to change Bluetooth source of outputs to car speakers on your phone Bluetooth setting not on the car.
There is a software update file on Teslasy website on this display product page.

Easiest install, you can pre paint the wire gray before installing or get a carbon fiber tape.
That would be another way to do it.

Nice, one question possible to install 2 set one for driver one from passenger?
I believe you can as you can see in the video I had the rear display connected to the same OBD port and still able to supply the power to both units.
But I’m not sure why would you need one for passenger.

Did they fix the voltage issue for AMD chips on 2022 model 3? Does the device still short out and smoke start to come out of it, and the device does not work?
any idea if this is fixed yet? Not sure if I should buy one...
looks decent. When a call comes in, does the audio go to the apple CarPlay display or sill goes via the Tesla bluetooth?
Appreciate your comment.
As long as you answer the call from main Tesla display the call will always output to main Tesla speakers and microphone.

Great video, thanks! Do you or do any of the experts here know if Tesla will have any issues with adding something like this with respect to the warranty? Also, I wonder how difficult it would be to drill a small hole in the dash trim to hide the cable or if that's even an option - don't know exactly what's underneath. Curious how much that part of the dash trim costs to replace when I go to sell it one day. TIA!
Appreciate your comment.
As fast as I know if you didn’t remove or replace any parts of the car then it shouldn’t void the warranty. I wouldn’t drill the hole through the dashboard though because that will definitely void the warranty.
So far the cable doesn’t bother me at all because when I drive I don’t really see it.

This the same one in the Video. Very easy to install and offer most of the functions you need.

Had it in my car for the past three days really nice. The only thing I would suggest is that the software is updated to ensure that the brightness of the screen matches the Tesla screen. Although they are for example on 10% and synced, the display on the unit is much brighter than the 10% on the Tesla screen, meaning that you have a brighter screen on the unit than on the Tesla screen. 0 setting is closer to Teslas 10%. Also it would be nice to also have the blue light filter like Tesla. At night still quite bright.
Appreciate your comment.
So far all of the displays I have tested non of them can exactly match Tesla main display.
Thank you for your great support!🙏
has yours shorted out yet? I heard there was voltage issues

Can you play the Tesla Radio/Audio while CarPlay is running?
Yes, you can. Just select Bluetooth option when you want to play music from display CarPlay
Updated to the new firmware which lets you navigate in German, French, etc. It seems to have removed the delays/lag.
The only major downside to this screen is that
it is not visible with polarized sunglasses.

My question is, with the latest updates to FSD, the right side scroll wheel seems to be used to change the FSD modes by going left and right, Will this interfere or override Tesla's commands?
@@akassebaum the control on the steering wheel will be disable when you activate autopilot or FSD.
What happens when you’re in CarPlay mode and autopilot, since the right steering controls would normally control speed and follow distance?
You would have to use touchscreen to select menu in CarPlay. Since it’s in autopilot you don’t have to worry about turning or stopping.
Unfortunately the right button will be disable to control the display when it’s on autopilot.
This happen to all the from instrument cluster displays.

Use the left steering wheel button just like you control audio on the main display.
Can you share a location with the panel such to Waze? Or how do you select a destination in Waze on the panel?

Quick question,
Do have to remove the HUD display and rear taillight prior to service appointment?

Really interested to know from your experience, if you prefer this 9.6 Teslasy HUD or the Hansshow 9 Inch Instrument Cluster with Airflow and Front Camera? And why?
I like the UI and Apple CarPlay layout on this 9.6” better than 9” but if you need extra functions like airflow and front camera then 9” from Hansshow would be better option.

As long as the display is in front of steering wheel it will somehow block some of the AC airflow. It’s just the matter of which one blocks less and more.

Hi, after seeing this video I ordered the head up display from Teslasy.
I jumped the gun before my car arrived and unfortunately I got the wrong model as my car doesn’t have the panel below the rear vents. Yep, my bad
I have contacted Teslasy and they replied that “the blue plug is inside the left guard of the center saddle” ?? My car is right hand drive (New Zealand), so I think this means that my unit will work if I find (right side, not left) and use the blue plug.
Do you know exactly what they mean and where the plug is ? Thanks

I don't know why you don't hide your cables better. They don't have to be seen at all running up to the center console and along. The side panels of console snap off and on easily, then route cable under dash to come up behind display, through air vent.
If you run the cable vehicle the display through the air vent you will see longer cable expose behind the display. That’s why I didn’t do that but you can do which ever way better and more seamless.

Can the User Interface be upgraded through software update to get the full CarPlay screen?
Not at the moment as the CarPlay Ui already takes most of the display area.

Make a base template and use measure and pencil to mark the area

can I buy something like this on tesla store?
Does this block the airflow at all? Or is the airflow pretty good still from the ac?
This display still somewhat block the airflow but less than most of them this size because it sits further out from the air vent.
I also recently reviewed the display with built in air vent.

Only three things to make it perfect
Autopilot nag
blind spot warning in red
posibility to add a front facing camera.
like other comments have said, would be great a design that tries to merge the metal bar of the display with the metal bar of the dash, lowering the display further, which hides the cable and improves airflow.
fantastic fantastic product.
Looking forward to version 2.
Appreciate your comment.
I reached out to Teslasy and they said this current version don’t have hardware to support those functions. They will add hardwares to support the functions in December.
Probably not with front camera function.

meaning another accessories for the blind spot warning, etc? Or totally new version?
Still waiting on a display that provides BSM or the camera view when the turn signal is engaged. Don't understand why all these displays omit this critical function.
@@corradomr2 I have asked a few brands about blind spot camera function. They said Tesla system doesn’t allow to access that info at the moment.

@@dadstoyscars when you say they will add hardware, we will have to buy another newer version, or they will update this?
Will it display any of the native Tesla navigation prompts?
It doesn’t display Tesla navigation as non of aftermarket display have that feature.
But you can use many different apps on Apple CarPlay to display navigation on this display.

Looks great. This is one I may invest in. I don’t like the 3M tape on the dashboard though. Looks like it would damage the dash if the need to remove it arises. Perhaps a little heat will remove it safely I hope 😮
Appreciate your comment.
You can use heat gun or hair dryer to remove the 3D tape from the dashboard.

Which then brings up another question,
Will it stay put, if you leave the car out parked on a sunny day.
Adhesive usually doesn’t take kindly to heat.
I would suspect, one coming out to a hot car, gets in and wants to turn something on and poke it with a finger, not supporting it with fingers from behind, like you did, and it just flops over.😱
A second question I would have is the placement
Wouldn’t it have been preferable to mount it right at the edge instead of half an inch in? (So much less of the flat cable shows)
How about blackening the visible part of the cable?
@@frodonifinger2628 appreciate your comment.
I tried to move lower and closer to the bottom part of the dashboard but it didn’t fit right and it’s too low that the steering wheel will start to block the display.
As for the heat issue, I had my carbon fiber dashboard on with 3M tape for 2 years now and the car was parked in the hot sun most of summer in CA and didn’t have any issue with it peeling out.
I believe if you install it well from the beginning it will less likely to loosen from the heat.

@@dadstoyscarsThank you! I just bought the device from Teslasy. How long did it take from the time of order until delivery? Thanks!
@@TheSkilloMan Should take about 7-10 business days.
People have asked about airflow. Does it block it yes or no?
Yes, it does but since it sits further away from the vent and not that high the airflow still goes up over the display and to the sides.

is the sound meant to come out of the car speakers?
You have to adjust the setting on your phone where you want to output the audio. Because the main source is your phone.
Display looks great but wish the wire was hidden like the other displays
Appreciate your comment.
After been using it for a week now, I don’t really see the wire while driving.
Thank you for watching and your great support!🙏👍
@@dadstoyscars On you car you have a black and grey dash, I have the earlier brownish looking dash. For you I would either get Testors model paint in black or gray and paint the exposed wire. Or just use a black Sparpie marker to color the wire.
how to get software update? is there a site to download it? Thanks,
There is a link to download the file on Teslasy product page: www.teslasy.com/products/model-3-y-9-6-inch-carplay-instrument-cluster-head-up-display
