It's curious how Microsoft is one of the main investors in Open AI, but the app arrived first on Apple than on WIndows.
I really don't understand. Specially since Mac still has a smaller user base
Maybe because OpenAI is competing against Google to be Apple's AI provider, they already have Microsoft's business
My guess would be that Microsoft already has Copilot as an app on Windows, whereas Mac users don't have anything native (plenty of third-party options as others have pointed out though).
@@StealthSabre You're right! Fell under the radar but the last few days Microsoft announced their new copilot capabilities and the seem to use GPTo multimodal tech
Probably cause it’s meant for programmers, MacOS and Ubuntu are probably the most popular for actual development
this isn't for everyone, its still being rolled out to mac users. im on a m1 mac and i dont have a download link message.

Its intentional. Apple and openai are competing. To let poor mimics of openais software on the appstore makes openai less accessable on mac.

People want apps, and companies can build apps using the OpenAI API.
It's typically cheaper via API than the $20/mo - maybe even with markup.
Of course, the current apps likely run the old models, and might not have all the features of the new ChatGPT app.

Hey Matt! Just a FYI but your Gate settings are a little too aggressive, that's why it's cutting off the beginning and end of some of your words. Either making the attack a bit slower or just upping the threshold should help your clarity. Love the vid!

Hey Matt, you should warn the new voice users that if the data goes over the token limit, chatgpt has a glitch that doesn't truncate the over-the-limit instance of the chat, doesn't allow you to regenerate then says, "start a new chat"....which means you can only take parts of that chat and retrain a new chat...

No it’s from ChatGPT’s memory since Matt was signed in to his own account. Guarantee he’s had previous chats that are saved talking about his CZcams channel and what not, which would update the memory. Send a message about something you like or goal you have or info about yourself, and you’ll see a “memory updated” thing at the top of ChatGPT’s response right click on that and everything that is in ChatGPT’s memory for you as a user is stored there. Idk if it’s included with free version or not since I’ve always paid for the plus and just noticed this feature recently
In other videos, he's gone into his answer profile and from there it shows "I am a content creator..." and all that stuff. Because he's logged in, that answer profile would have transferred over.

Hi Matt all the features you just showed in this desktop have been available in Microsoft's copilot which you can actually do right on the operating system if you have the new beta version but I've seen these options for at least six weeks including the screen capture I was curious I never hear you say very much about copilot is there something I'm missing thanks have a nice day

@@SeanTube2099 No, Copilot doesn't act the same as ChatGPT. Copilot is more shopping-oriented. If you give Copilot a concrete noun, it will often think you're trying to shop for it, and give you links to e-tailers. I agree with the OP that Matt doesn't cover Copilot nearly enough as he should.

Hey Matt. I’m a Mac user (M1). Nothing here. More so, is there anything I need to do differently to get the “Memory” update. Don’t have it up till now.
I can’t wait for this to be on windows and they have the full screen share. This is gonna help so much with my web development learning. Atm iv been using co-pilot and it helps a lot explaining things. But chatgpt is gonna take it to the next level
It's not available to all yet, I have a Mac M1 and the option is not there and if I get the app from the download option others get the app tells me it's not available to me yet

How is this better than just opening a browser window and clicking one button? The app doesn't let you download/use Chatgpt locally without internet so it what's the point?
At this point, only the two button shortcut I guess.

On my MAC, the voice mode does work... and really well
I have one of the lastest Macbooks with the latest macOS update and software, but when I go to chatGPT, there is no download option. May this be that OpenAi is still rolling it out?

i got the new app download message from chatgpt and ive downloaded it however when i finish signing in it always says it doesnt support my mac yet even though it has the m2 processor and the most recent MacOs. Does anyone know why this is???

Frankly I’m still pretty disappointed we do not have any updates yet for paying users outside the 5x usage over free users..

I am free tier in the UK. Just got the "limited" cGPT 4o. I was looking forward to the free tier finally getting access to the renamed code interpreter. It seems we don't have access, however. 😥

So let me get this straight, Microsoft is the main backer of OpenAi and they develop an app just for Apple?
If I'm going to Monday morning quarterback this, I'm going to say the mac app ecosystem is a little more locked down, and if you're trying to provide a smooth experience for new users by ramping up gradually, mac is a nice smaller pond where you have more hope of slowing down rollout and proliferation of exploits.

I'm on a Macbook Pro M3, but it doesn't show for me using the free version. I did a search, found a link to download in the Open AI forum. Downloaded it, installed, it opened and said I don't have access to it yet. Patience is my friend.

I have windows, An got GPT downloaded on my PC and I just got ChatGPT 4o yesterday. It some what Works By that it just doesn't talk back even when you press the bottom to read out load. You can put pic and it will tell what it is .. and all this is on the free version.

Another issue. It only works for plus members. Not even for the higher cost Team members.
Could be awhile for windows version release. Microsoft clearly wants Copilot to become the default Windows OS AI assistant.
What do you mean about the voices? on android we get all the voices just like in the demo already. What doesn't work on android yet is the video mode.

But without access to your data (without screenshot or data upload), it's not more useful than the web version... And if it gets these features, how do you expect to uphold any data protection for sensitive data on your hard drive or your screen?
Anyone installed on Ventura and know where to download it? I have downloaded as mentioned by Matt, but it is for a newer OS and not compatible :0. Even asking GPT4o does not provide a compatible link or options for different Mac OS's

@@chaosjacky I don't know how to find it but I remember an official open ai statement somewhere on their website that said that. Also on the free version GPT 4o has like barely any uses and a really low message limit and plus has up to 5x higher use
