Probably a huge tip: Another great frame for mining is Warframe’s fastest frame, Titania. You can’t equip a mining laser while you have an arch wing, but you can in Razorwing. This gives you the benefit of unrestricted movement to reach those hard to get nodes and (by default) six bodyguards that will draw enemy fire away from you and take them out, all for the low cost of energy drain.
You could use a mining lazer in an archwing, but it's a pain to do. Possible up to a few months ago for sure, I don't know if they patched it out because I haven't tried it in that long. I figured out how by mistake and I was asking people how after I did it, and everyone said it's not possible so I gave up for a bit, but I googled it and found a post from years ago explaining how- It has to do with how you equip your weapons and gear.
Until you get the silent upgrade. Then just use loki or ivara. Not getting shot at ever > having butterfly bodyguards.
@@Wooskii1 i got a similar bug with the archwing launche and the archgun while on Orb Vallis.
I mainly use Titania in other content & I definitely like using Titania to mine to get closer to the veins. I was gonna make a comment along these lines if you didn't.
@@Benzinilinguine Usually the enemies aren't a major issue for me, you can just kill everything first, or avoid them, my razorflies & panzer vulpaphyla usually kill the enemies, unless it's like a turret or something that pushes you out of position.
Sometimes you can mine an ore vein without seeing it's weak nodes by visualizing the triangular patern. Or, by wildly flailing your lazer arround and hoping to get lucky

Flailing laser method (with either Loki or Ivara) is actually how I do Nightwave mining missions these days.
Especially since I've built basically everything I want and still remember how painful the whole Hesperon thing was.
Sometimes it just bugs out and doesn't have any at all so you can't mine it. Smh
To fix this, just unequip your mining tool and re-equip
@@kwoni3337 someone already suggested unequipping your mining laser and equipping it again to force the nodes to appear. Alternatively, I've found the hotspots to bug out when they're highly concentrated in the area. Mine a different hotspot and the one you're trying to get will have the nodes magically appear.

In the Orb Vallis, you can mine both inside and outside of the Deck 12 entrance. The veins reload when you cross the gate both ways. Enemies will never spawn over there. I think it's a decent spot for mining runs. However the respawn is sometimes inconsistent.
In all the years of the game, NO ONE has put out such a complete, comprehensive, factual and straight to the point mining guide.
I had to piece out all this knowledge from the forums, wiki comments, crappy YT vids and trial and error. Kengineer pulls ahead of the competition yet again.
My go-to method when it comes to mining (albeit I'm doing it mostly for the Nora challenges these days, because I have a stockpile of everything):
with ore nodes I start the mining and look for the rare gem brackets - if there isn't one I just release the trigger. this proven to be both fast and efficient with added bonus of getting a gem for free.
and when it comes to gem nodes I usually take my time with them and try to cut them perfectly. its still pretty fast but because the yield of the gems is much lower than the ore - I find it better to give them more time, compared to ore that drops in large quantities.
Btw didn't know that you could reset the reward sequence with re-equipping the laser, thanks for the heads-up!
the requipping could also be achieved by using melee once and aim again. Mining laser is considered pistol so no swapping animation is needed. I prefer fast stationary melee.

Adding to this, know that the rarest gems have a fixed droprate, doesn’t matter if you cut them perfectly or just quick-tap them, they will always drop the same amount.
Fun fact: the reason why you have no heciphron is because its drop rate from veins is actually drastically lower when mined with a Sunpoint Plasma Drill, an issue that hasn’t been fixed since Deimos’ launch. The only effective way to obtain it is by mining nodes with the those optional tiny brackets inside of them which give you extra gems/ores when mined, in addition to what you would’ve gotten from that vein already.
At 10:00, he mentions minor inconveniences caused by UI softlock, and to tackle that, you just swing melee and then click right after. Doing so will completely bypass the UI sequence and get you right back to the mining (and for that reason, I recommend throwable melee. Setting hot key for miner is still good idea though). Also, at combion drift, I find it more relaxing to mine inside of an isolation vault. Every single vault (new instances) has rich resources you can mine for quite a while. Plus, if you clear the mission, no more enemies spawn to distract you.
I figured this trick out after watching the video and came back to the comments to share, but you beat me to it.
Yeah, you don't need to un-equip and re-equip the mining laser, just pressing the melee button brings out your melee weapon, and then either shooting or aiming brings you right back to the mining laser. HUGE time saver, either way :)

There's a rumor that doing this prevents progress on nightwave rare mining.
@@Kuldirongaze1 You are right, but there is a catch. It will not register the second rare resource you manage to dig up. For example, if you dig up nyth and auron at the same time, and preform the melee, the second auron will NOT be registered by the game (because this game is too great). So if you are 100% certain that you got 2 rare resources (indicated by very narrow brackets during the mining), it would be your best interest to not perform melee attack. Note that you still get the resouce, it's just that it will not count towards the NW mission progress.
Dashwire is also a good ability that’ll help you to fish.. so if you have a booster and want to spend a relaxing moment of farming multiple things in a single open world playthrough, ivara is a good choice.

Volt doesn't care about the different spears for Cetus fish, due to his passive
And Zephyr can increase the projectile speed with her 3 Augment which makes aiming a bit easier (especially on Deimos imo)
@@TsubasayaYami yup. Weapon boosting frames would definitely help for fishing. Though, for me, changing spear is not an issue. Usually i just focus in one types of fish at a time.
As for fishing in deimos, i found it a lot easier… no issue standing on the fluid etc.
Being invisible while mining/fishing/hunting (undisturbed by mobs); using dashwire to reach hard to reach minerals or standing in the middle of the lake to fish (or near flying mutated fish); and sleep arrow for hunting most of the wildlife; are why i said ivara is a good choice if you want to spend hours of farming things on open worlds

An argument can be made for always carefully mining instead of fast. The difference in a direct comparison isn't too great, and one thing to consider is that the extra material you don't need right now is surplus you don't need to mine later for something else. Especially when ore mining, the extra gems do help in the long run. If you stack -much- more gems than you need, you can also trade them in with Suumbat/Smokefinger/Otak for standing points.

He’s absolutely right. If you’re good at nailing them perfectly, mining thyst in the vallis is objectively faster than bounties for standing
Instead of pulling out a weapon and then pulling out your laser, you can just melee attack and then aim to switch back and forth. Also of note, nightwave mining challenges need the results pop up to finish completely in order to count.
It may be worth noting that if you're just after certain Cambion Drift minerals and gems, Requiem Obelisks may be a better way to go, especially if you focus on the more fruitful ones. It could be I was trying the wrong caves (I think was after one of the "common" minerals) but when I was really struggling to gather enough of what I needed via mining the pillars quickly got me sorted.
one thing he forgot to mention (probably because there was no nightwave asking for it at the time) when you're mining for the nightwave challenge using the animation skip method either by meleeing or unequipping via hotkey doesn't trigger the nightwave act's counter, you have to wait at least till the rare gem animation pops up.
you still get the resources regardless just nightwave being bad at detecting that by targeting the animation played rather than your inventory.

The exploiter orb cave is great in fortuna. Tons of vanes and you can keep loading in and out to refresh them. Not sure of the quality tho, I do remember them giving rare gems/ore.

Love it. I play Vauban as my main and I just release "THE SQUAD" AKA Tesla Nervos and they keep me safe while mining, if things get ugly then I can just use other abilities and forget about it. lol
Excellent tip here and when my brother plays warframe He sometimes stills his mates on the PC that are just recently entered the game he just tells them to get a plasma drill instead of a Nosam Cutter Because for the 1st drill you need to continue with increased standing with Cetus to upgrade Nossam Cutter from basic to Focused and Advanced. On the other hand plasma drill you can simply mine the ores that require Advanced and Focused Nosam Cutter directly. That's why you should be going to Fortuna at the earliest stage.

Ivara, by the way. You can build for invis and summon your K-Drive, Cast invis and during the animation jump on your K-Drive. You now have her invis without the movement restrictions. Also your energy drain I believe excludes the movement additional cost. So whatever your energy pool is and with max efficiency Ivara moving and mining in this manor will be losing energy as if she is standing still! so enjoy your crazy invisibility uptime! and happy mining.

Great video as always, you've mentioned everything thats needs to be mentioned.
I mine materials regularly as its a great way to gain reputation by selling them to the vendors on the various planets.
It might be worth submitting a Bug ticket about the chance boosters effect, since Im pretty sure DE have said before (or its on a tooltip or some other abstract information method, I can't remember exactly) that Resource drop chance boosters increase the amount of veins that will spawn, and according to these results that simply isn't true.
one thing that wasn't mentioned is, hitting the center of each bracket improves your cut quality, filling up those stars at the top more.
each star represents your quantity multiplier. ores have a base of 2, common gems have 1.
so at 5 starts youll get 10 ores or 5 common gems
rare gems have a null base. so you'll always get just 1 without a booster
AND each star improves the chances of getting rarer materials.
so being accurate is very important!
and double checking the wiki, it says the farther away from home base raises the starting point of these stars.
which would explain why your results showed near constant high quality materials when far away.
It's not an efficient method, but if you're tired of mining you can also get some common and uncommon mining resources from the crates strewn around the map, so you can passively generate some resources while doing other things such as bounties and the like. From my experience though, rare resources won't drop at all, so you'll have to mine for those unfortunately.

Fast vs proper release depends upon what you are mining for. Rare gems has the same basic yield whatever the performance is, so if its them you are looking for (say, for Nora), it's more efficient to just tap unless there are bonus brackets. If you need huge amounts of common ore/gems, it would be probably wiser to mine properly.
I always told new players to just buy the fortuna laser and ignore the cetus ones. I knew the fortuna one was better but not how large the difference was. Thank you for breaking it down.

for most mining, instead of invisbility, I often just take Hildryn, and straight up ignore enemies. outside of steel path, they just con't damage her enough.

Would be nice to get a view on your dataset to gage things like the "likely an outlier" at 8:01 for Pyrol. Really looks like twice the amount there and that would be huge since Pyrol is the mining resource most people always run out on first.
ken i wonder what you think about deck 12 as a mining location for the vallis. no enemies, and almost all the deposits there is easy to reach.

I'm actually kinda okay with them having used the mining mechanic for the mechanic of the Nataruk.
Luckily, the perfect shot is timed the same way every time you shoot it (considering the speed mods), so you don't really have to watch the gauge.

Great guide as always. Kinda surprised Deck 12 wasnt mentioned. Always my goto for fhe Nightwave challenge as there's a lot of nodes there and it's far from Fortuna
So I mined up a lot of stuff years ago, and finished up Deimos last week or so. I really wish I'd seen this, because I had no idea those thin brackets were a *good* thing, I thought I was meant to actively avoid them. No idea why I thought that, but oof. Oof. Can't imagine how many gems I didn't get *on purpose*.
As much as I think the Nightwave mission to mine 6 rare ores/gems is annoying, it sure does a good job of keeping your inventory decently stocked

With no data to back this up and just anekdotal feelings:
In my experience its often benefical to carefully mine ore veins and fast mine gem veins. Ore veins often give you between 2-10 of the ore depending on your result. While some gems will give you only 1 no matter what or just a small boost of 2 or 3 extra gems. And careful mining doesn't seem to increase the rarity of the stuff.
But like I said, I don't have data to back this claim up.
Maybe....but my guess abt careful mining is you get increased rarity gem when the ore icon in mining tool is filled ( the 6 ore thing in mining tool UI ) cuz there's one time i so desperately just tryin to farm common gem but get uncommon-rare one because i think you should careful mining

Frame suggestions, you missed Titania who can use the drill while in razorwing. High efficiency/duration build.
5:20 - plains of eidolon
5:41 - cambrion drift
6:16 - orb vallis
Instead of "shooting" at the points, you can just hold the laser and move over the little points ..the advantage is, if over a little point is that small area for special material, you can decide to do it, thats not the case when you're just "shooting" at it. But all in all, as allways, very helpfull!

I use Wukong for mining. Taking only my Kuva Chakur means the clones snipes enemies before they get close. Can get similar effect using any clone, but on XBox, your mining laser/weapon switch is a pain; so having a dedicated guard is nice.
If only this video existed before I had to learn all of this by myself. Although, I feel like learning this myself was part of my WF journey so I don't really feel bad about it.
Ivara is my go-to for anything open world. She can even do animal conservation with her Sleep Arrows. Dashwire when fishing in caves in OV. Not to mention with Navigator for either the Sleep Arrows or just the tranq shots. Heck, use Navigator on the fishing spears if you want (tho it feels like it's more difficult to aim that way).

Another way to skip the UI lockout is to enter operator mode, which I've been doing for a while. You won't get progress on Nightwave challenges if you don't see the rare gem/ore however, even if you acquired it.

Hey Ken I think you missed a significant mining location in the vallis. The old platform 13 cave has a significant number of mining nodes on your way inside the old home of the vox Solaris and also on your way out.
This is Interesting stuff, really. I just shoot the ores with the MIGHTY SEER tho
Best advice if you hate mining- Don't Do IT, if you can avoid it. Requem Pylons- Deimos is an absolute pain (unless you get inside the vault tunnels first) so I actually took someone else's advice and did requem pylons, way more fun and rewarding. Also can get rare fishing and mining materials from other places like the Orb mother, and Tusk thumpers. I avoid fishing/ mining/ hunting unless I absolutely have to, like for needed nighwave points.

Im looking at mining before we lose the smeeta boost. Some of my observations are. Hold a second before moving to a new point so you dont get half-ass rewards. In principle, not wasting 2/3 of mining time on the minigame. Im thinking now that the second node is worth the chance at rare rewards when seen. Im currently looking into the best frames. I wish it was gauss; it would be cool to do rapid succesion vains. In the running: ivara, zephyr, volt, gauss, wukong, trinity, loki.
I mine using the fast method but I also keep an eye out for the bonus gem brackets. its a good way or optimizing variety, time and yield.

I like to equip a lot of holster speed for equipping the sunpoint mining laser to skip the gem notification.
I don't know the gem rates for the cave in deck 12 but it seems like a good mining spot.

Sometimes when I free roam either Cambion or the Plains, caves are completely empty of ANY ore/gem veins and I still haven't figured out why
9:29 you call also use the stealth arrow as it makes a patch of stealth so you mine without braking stealth but it dose slow you down to cast it all the time, personally I use the stealth arrow when I need to recharge my energy pool as standing in the stealth patch of the arrow keeps you stealths while your using a pizza or spoiler skill, be warned that the stealth arrow dosnt Effect your spoiler it can still be seen which is a bit odd so if your using zen hop out quickly hit 1 then hop back in and hope no one saw you.

What about Deck 12 in Orb Vallis? I always mine there for the Nightwave act and it has a lot of veins, plus each time you cross the doors it resets the level giving you infinite(?) veins
You can zoom with the lazer? Once I figure out how to do it mining will become a bit easier.

I mostly mine for the cetus standing (forgot the name sorry) it's tedious but easy especially if you don't have much ways to farm other things, there's a cave a bit from the entrance of cetus that always has a bunch of gems so I just go in mine everything in there, leave, then go straight back and repeat, it's not the most efficient or the fastest but it's good for early players, who don't want to go through more difficult standing farms. And when done u just trade in gems to the gem guy in cetus until u reach cap, it worked for me it'll work for early players to.
I have been trying to mine for embolos for a couple months now. I thought I just had bad luck. I guess I just needed to get a different mining tool. Who would have known.

I just found this out.
But when the mining nodes refuse to show up. What I do is I aim directly at the vein/ore, and then walk away with a zigzag motion, or sometimes I walk in circles around it with a bit of distance. Key thing here is just aim directly at it while moving. Ever since I did this technique the mining nodes always show up. Hope this helps!

I spent so much time mining sht for blueprints that needed it and now it turns out the rarity changes when I go further...
me personally i noticed a diff tween the advanced nosam & sunpoint when looking for travoride & pyrol. it yeileds me more than the sunpoint, in my experience anyway.
Ive just jumped back on after years and i have no clue where im going or what im doing so even the quests I do have dont tell me anything about mining. I just saw gems in need for Guass and had no idea how to find them. Now i know i need to mine but have idea who to talk to to buy them or when it gets introduced to me in game. 😂

Hey K, does the drop chance booster still skew the chances of finding ore veins? I was gonna do some mining today but I logged in to see a drop chance booster tribute haha
My tip is that metals are plentiful and found everywhere. Gems are not. Be careful on the gem nodes, and quickblast the metal nodes... only pausing for a moment on each point to see if they've spawned a bonus box for a free gem. ALWAYS go for the bonus box gem
Hi Kengineer! Would you be able to do a video on Titania? She's fun, but I dont really understand how to use her very well.
Pro tip: Titania can use the mining lasers while in razorwing. No awkward parkour, and the razorflies deal with enemies that might agro onto you. Just land periodically on an easy node and use Zenurik to replenish energy while you mine a vein or two.
Did you ever try Fast mining but always taking the small brackets? I got it from somewhere that it's the best method (especially for getting the most of the rarest gems). Or maybe I just made that up myself

After mining for hours I got three necra with sun point, after switching to advanced nosam I mined for 20min and got 30 necra. I hear the exact same story from others. Was the yield per vein worse? Absolutely, but since I already had a surplus in all other minerals and gems on Deimos I didn’t care and five or 10 low yield mines of the only gem I need in 20min is much better than one or two high yield mines in the span of about six hours worth of mining.
I also found this, though less effective, to help with pyrole, of which I never had more than 10 of using the over-effective sunpoint.
The sunpoint is more effective in general, and will continue to use it, but when I need those minerals lower on the drop table, I need the nosam.
