Byd is really innovative not only focusing on the looks
Looks is not the problem with the rest of the competition.
The problem we are dealing with in western markets is that automakers are trapped making ever larger, heavier, posher and more expensive cars (petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric).
The fact is that the massive trend toward crossovers and SUVs because they make better profits, which their financing has had great influence on inflation of the auto market and currency itself!
So they're in a death spiral of making more profitable cars because quarterly inflation is stripping the value of said profits. Hence why the smallest and most affordable cars don't exist anymore.

BYD are going to be huge in Europe. I'm in the UK and I'm considering the Seal as my next EV. The technology in this video is amazing it's just a shame that the remote parking will be probably be limited by legislation in my country.
I've been praying that someone would bring a hydropneumatic suspension to a modern EV. It makes so much more sense than air suspension. I wish all cars came with it!
i can just see U$UK pulling the same old "national security threat" and put sanctions on these cars. talk about self imposed backwardness.
I just hope their after sales & services are not like their 2wheelers in African countries.

This is very natural. After all, both BYD and DJI are headquartered in Shenzhen. If the bosses get together for a meal, the problem can be easily resolved.
I checked the map. BYD Technology Research Institute is 57 kilometers away from DJI headquarters and 42 kilometers away from Huawei headquarters.
Why does the United States want to sanction Huawei?

Drone system is a very obvious thing to make but something I never thought of.
It may help you pass the lorry on two lanes with a corner such as on mountain roads.

Wow, lots of cool tech in these vehicles. These things look great and would be nice to have in the US it they improve the EV infrastructure. Hopefully the tech and battery will last long term and the manufacturer have a strong warranty for US market.

I'd like to see the current e6 tested, I would like to buy on if a can't get a baojun Cloud. They imported 16 to Australia but then stopped and bought in the atto 3 instead, I don't want an SUV.
@@metricstormtrooper Surely you'd be better served with a modern MG4 or Dolphin EV hatchback instead. The E6 is ancient.
@@metricstormtrooper E6 in China is only sold as cheap taxis, so it is quite under-equipped. I would not recommend you to buy one.

One of the things I love about Chinese car design is, they are willing to try anything. One of the things I don’t like, however, is they sometimes don’t know when to stop. Many of these new cars have enough design features and elements for two or three cars, but they cram them all into one. It’s a bit of a mishmash and can detract from a single coherent look.
Chinese people are smart enough to operate all high-tech things and like high-tech, so don't worry.
In addition, I think German and Japanese cars are overpriced, and new competition is good for consumers. After all, they will always lower their prices.
I blame that on Chinese extreme competitive market conditions. Chinese car makers need to throw everything they have out to draw attention.

@KitKitChanIsaac I don't know where you got your logic from because CO2 emissions from fossil fuels are ~35 billion tons per year vs. ~1.5 million tons derived from lithium/cobalt mining per year. Put it another way, $35 billion will last for generations, but $1.5 million may not even last a year. Cheers 👍

I was curious about this concept since I've seen last months to the Chinese car salon. Any info about the curb weight of this?

I guess with around half ton less of weight compared to a regular yangwang U9 this thing must be very fast and a little more agile!
You can find a video of this driving from @大家车言论, they've demonstrated it on a lap and should be steering and braking normally.
It’s 3460kg, so incredibly heavy, but I’ve driven it at this point and I can tell you that it just drives like a really big SUV.

The parallel parking thing is mind blowing. Might not work on snowy or dirty roads though with not getting enough traction on that front wheel
I don't think traction would be an issue. It is a variation of its tank turn capability, where the wheels are all spinning at different direction and speeds to maneuver the car into that space. Less traction might even be a good thing since it would save on tire wear.
If that’s the case the front wheel could spin backwards to compensate for the loss of traction. Totally doable. Assuming the control system is actually assessing the traction and torque real time and not just running a preset configuration.

What would impress me right now is a split modular and easy to repair battery ie a battery made up of 8 modules that click together like lego. Right now, if a few cells fail, you have to take out the whole battery. Then you have the wonderful option of spending $12k either replacing the whole battery or $5k for someone to spend a lot of time replacing a few cells that cost $200.
Just how often does that happen?
buy NIO with replaceable battery.
BYD Blade batteries are good for well over a million kms before suffering degradation so not really worth considering. Batteries are getting cheaper and lighter all the time

The other self-parking takes so long and isn’t as fast as a good driver, what exactly is the advantage of having your car back up into a parking spot when it only takes a second to a driver? Serious question. Why do people need that specific function?
I feel like BYD would benefit from having a UX person vetting their ideas. The hand-sensor also seems slow at processing and unlocking your car. How is this advantageous over a wireless key fob you can open from a distance? In times of a rush, waiting for it to register your hand seems like it takes ages. Do they have plans on making this faster? I would like to see it immediately unlock as soon as your hand reaches for the door handle or however it opens. That would be very cool and useful.
Question : Regarding the Electronic architecture are BYD EV's built like Teslas or are they more like traditional automakers? Are BYD software defined cars?
Probably the other way around. The car defines sofware
They're more of a Engineer-thinking company compared to pure software driven ones like Tesla or XPeng Huawei, etc. but their software isn't bad, but not the best yet.
find info about VW failed to build software since 2019, finally hire chinese company to build their software in 2023. not american, japanese, nor korean.
BYD employee a lot of people to build their vehicles. Tesla automate where possible. At this point in time BYD are more traditional in their manufacturing.

vw build their software in europe since 2019, can't really finish it for years. in 2023 they hire chinese company to fix their software.

Any comment on how much of a fat pig the yangwang evs are? The u9 weighs more than the lucid air sapphire does and the u7 weighs as much as a ct does. Yes the u7 weighs 3,089kgs per a car china ev site released gov approval docs. And the u9 is over 2,500kgs.😂

BYD seriously needs to look at the reality that not every truck needs to be F150 sized. Light duty pick ups and "Utes" are the ideal option for EVs that can also be made affordably.

Utes and pickups aren't popular in China due to the rain and licensing laws. Pickups can only be licenced as commercial vehicles but the preferred light commercial vehicle is a van, which BYD has one in the line.
The U8 is their top of the line Rangerover class premium SUV, they have smaller ones all the way down to the Atto3. It's just that they don't sell those outside China.
@@moss550 they do sell those smaller ones outside of china, in Mexico we have almost all of the models specially the small ones because of the Mexican market necessities and that applies for some European countries too
