her hair curled up and it looked so pretty!
Lol! When I agreed to this hack I forgot how curly my hair gets when it's wet...it came out kind of cool though lol!
MiniMeeshie I understand girl! I have curly hair too. Your hair us gorgeous!!!
MiniMeeshie omg I though you curled it!! It's so pretty
Thank you!!! :)
MiniMeeshie your welcome!!
I did this before with cherry and i have dark brown hair. I had my hair in there for about 30 mins. After I wrapped it in tin foil and slept with it. In the morning i washed my hair and it came out amazing it stayed for about 4-5 months😛
Thank you so much I have dark brown hair as well and I am going to do this kool aid dye thing today!
How many packets?
how many packets did you use i have dark brown hair im useing cherry and i only have 2 packets
I have long dark brown curly hair and I used to mix red Koolaid packets in conditioner (as many packets as you need to make the amount of conditioner youre going to use to be vibrant)
and put that in my hair and left it in for like 24hrs (at some point putting foil on my hair and heating with a blow dryer for a couple minutes too) and washed it out.
My hair was a nice red-brown, very pretty, definitely noticeable.
Lasted for ages, and the tint lasted for like year.
Madison Osborne i used about 2-3 packets can last you as much as a year!
Michelle's hair curled like that naturally? Wow, I'm so jealous. That's gorgeous.
Lol thank you!!!!!
No it didn't
+Ariana Zamora it's my hair and yes it did :)
I know I'm so jealous!!
I'm so jealous! Mine won't hold curls for anything. It's lazy.
Turquoise works on dark brown hair, i did it and it looked REALLY vibrant
Rylee Hendrikse by using this method or something else please I need guidance
I’m happy to know that it works on dark hair but yeah what the other person asked
hey i want to dye my ends with koolaid but will it work on brown hair and do i have to use sugar free koolaid
I put 2 table spoons, of conditioner and put it in the microwave for 20 seconds and added 4-5 packets of koolaid mixed it together till it was fully mixed, and added a few more pups of conditioner (as much as you desire) and mixed all together, than I got latex gloves and mixed it all in my hair and put my hair tied together in a ziplock bag for an hour than rinsed it out with cold water (NO shampoo) and blow dried it. It turned out really well! )I have dark brown hair)
I am doing it for 8 hours. I hope it works!
How long did it stay in
Do u let the water cool down a bit before putting your hair in it. Seems bad for your hair cause it's really hot. Please let me know
Elizabeth Lovato yeah.
Denae Holland ik it’s late but when should i Wash my hair
I sat over the bowl for about an hour and it was so vibrant I got suspended from school
Really? Yeah.a girl got suspended also
That's what happened in my school 😂😂and I'm in london
I actually dip died my hair with temporary colour and it still has pink so I'm scared I will get told off 😢😢😢
i did it for 2 hours and it was really bright and i have dark hair
Wow that's stupid to be suspended for , in my school in Las Vegas girls have like their whole head kool aid red and its fine
Okay so I did this a while back, what your supposed to do is dip it in the water for 20 minutes, and then repeat. Once your done blow dry it and don't wash it for 24 hours. I have really dark brown hair and dyed it red, it was pretty noticeable and lasted somewhere around 4-6 months.
+Havi K long and sorta thick
+Camila we ave the same type of hair and I want to do this with rd so your telling me it works? reading this comment made me so excited so it better be true :p
+Ali Jansen It worked for me (but doing it the way I commented) and I have two other friends who did it, one has medium brown hair and the other one has blondeish-brown and it worked really well on them, good luck :)
Though don't expect it to be a super bright color, it turns out a really dark, but still noticeable
+Camila thanks so much!! But will it be more then just a tint?
is anyone else annoyed that they used two perfectly good towels??
lol yes
maybe
Amanda Anzalone what if they where extra towels they bought for this video?
slyfox 104 makes sense...
What if they are like older towels that they dont care about
I did this without my moms permission, and I hid it from her for like 6 months. One day she saw it and made me cut it off lmao ha
How did you hide it
+Lauren and Megan Palmer I did the ends, so you just put my hair in buns and tried to hid it as best as i could when i was around her
+Pikacute is it permanent the dye??
+Pikacute what color is your hair? :o
How did you hide it?
I never tried the dip dye method, but I dyed my hair with koolaid a few times, and it actually came out pretty great.
If you want to dye your whole head or even part of it, you have to get koolaid packets and add drops of water to the powder until it becomes like a paste. Then you mix in some conditioner. The more conditioner you add, the less vibrant the color is. Once you have your mixture, you just use a hair dye brush to brush it onto your hair and then wrap your head in plastic wrap and leave it in for anywhere from 2-10 hours depending on how much time you have and how vibrant you want your hair to be.
The only cons about this method are that it is very time consuming and messy. The hair dye will continue leaking for the first 2 hours or so. The red color usually works best, and the color stays for a long time. My hair is naturally a medium brown, and it never takes well to color. Also, use SUGAR-FREE kool aid or it becomes one giant, sticky mess.
This is the way I did it! My hair stayed blue for 2-3 weeks. I didn't put any water in it. Just Kool-Aid and conditioner and then I wrapped my hair in tin foil, and left it all night. Then I took it out and washed it. It was very vibrant for about 2 weeks then it started to fade. Definitely loved this method better.
Wow! Cool info, I wanna try this but the problem is I have a really natural black hair
Aww look at Michelle's curls! My hair is darker than yours, so I'm guessing this wouldn't work for me either. Love you guys! :)
Kristin Claxton right?? it was so funny how quickly her hair curled up. Jet was like "kool aid makes your hair curl??" we laughed forever. I would kill for curls like you girls!! Love you!!
I forgot Jet said that LOL
Ellko That's some magic Kool Aid haha. If my hair was straightened, it would turn curly with the slightest amount of water. We can switch hair for a day hehe
MiniMeeshie So hilarious hehe. I would have never guessed your hair was curly if you didn't tell us :P
Lol no! We just quickly dried it with her hair dryer! My hair is soooo curly it's crazy!
Lmao this is not a pintrest trick. My mom did this in the 80s, this is a hood trick.
Lol
lol right? Even I did this in middle school (early 2000's
Loads of these beauty hacks have been round for ages but people still try them..don't really see the problem with it
rosie bex no one said there was a problem. We're just stating that its not as new or revolutionary as CZcams is making it seem. Lighten up
Exactly
I did this in 7th grade (10th grade now), I used 2cups of water, 6 packs of look-aid. Why because I have really dark hair. It stayed in till I cut it out in 8th grade. Over the summer I went to the pool & beach, it went blonde. I loved it but now I have really light brown hair from it.
you can do this with crepe paper as well
b
Kittie Kaithwas what
koolaid**
+Jordon Grey thats how i always do it
actually it does work on dark hair (at least with the red) and you need 5 packets of kool aid and you need to leave it in for 1 hour and then you can see it REALLY well!😉 soo yeah
For kook aid the pin was wrong you should usually stay for 15-20 minutes if you have darker hair and lighter hair is 10 minutes
Kool***
ok but u need to watch diy's
lol
Ashlyn Engleman i hav dark hair n i had it fot 10 mins n it worked
lovey heart It really depends on the hair type, Like thick hair in general will be longer waiting period then thin hair. It depends on your type of hair.
I mean...it looks like it works as well as normal hair dye. Even a permanent hair dye of a vibrant color won't show up as more than a tint on really dark hair. I went through a phase where I wanted my hair really bright colors, and I ended up frying it from bleaching.
Thank you for all the comments/tips telling us to leave it in longer!!! I (or me and Ellie) will definitely try that next time!!!
I dyed the tips of my hair with koolaid in December 2014 and now it's June 2015 and it's still in! It works perfectly. Well I kept mine in for 25 minutes.
I have dark hair and I've done this many times before with the red and it works amazing! I do the same thing as you did, but I let my hair soak for about 45 minutes... Not very comfortable but in the end, my hair does from almost black to vibrant red.
I like the darker tint of Michelle's hair than purple tbh... It looks very subtle but I still love it
This kinda reminds me of Bunny's 'Does This Thing Really Work' videos
Yeah
what the hell. that girls hair is gorgeous. stop straightening it weirdo!
Weirdo? Well, Thank you. :) I think?
And I straighten it once a week at most. Because I like it straight. And curly. It's my hair:)
That was unnecessarily rude. I have one question, do you have curly hair? Probably not, because usually when someone has curly hair they don't make comments like this to their people with curly hair.
Take yourself out, you're the weirdo yourself.
+ZoeAlways curly hair is really hard to manage. If you mess up your hair you can't just brush it you have to wet it so it doesn't become frizzy.
I think Michelle should try lime green. Purple on black hair is hard to see. Dare to go green. :)
I'll try it!!!!
Challenge accepted!!
Her hair is black, why would it be any different if it was green?
Because a lot of people are commenting saying the colors worked on their dark hair, and that I just need to leave it on much longer next time
Kayla Lynn because she did a dark color like purple on dark colored hair thats like using a purple crayon to draw on black paper lol if you use a lighter color like red on dark hair, it at least somewhat shows more then the purple did.
couldn't you use ziploc bags and rubber bands and sit up?
idk the bowl is a lot better the ziplock my fall or something
Michelle Stutzman
no sitting and drip drying would be better if doing it right the bag would hold up a strand of hair and your not turning into someone with a crick in the neck.
shoulda put conditioner on it
this is the first video i've seen her husband! i love it!!! ship it so hard. shipping married couples is the easiest, most wonderful thing ever.
i'm so glad they did this hack, i've wanted to try it, or at least see someone do it who had darker hair like mine. this was super helpful!!
I have given this video at least 300 of it's views. Can't.stop.watching.
god, i love michelle's brows
I have a brow tutorial! So easy! Thank you thank you!
💗💗💗💗💗💗
Michelle should have used 5 packets. it works better in dark hair to use more packets.
Next time!
I agree it might have showed up better
It also shows in water really well.
when i did this in the summer it lasted the whole summer and the first semester but i cut my hair so i didn't have it.
if the michelle did red than it probably would have shown better than the purple.😛
Lisa Park

dont worry i had to cut my hair

Can I just say I absolutley love you! The main reason is your not one of those fake looking people your 100% natural and relatable to!!
im not trying to be rude but you are supposed to leave it 20 or 15 min with light hair and dark hair like michelle leave it for 30 min cause i have the same hair color and it shows really great
Star Trek configuration hahahah I love you. I'm smiling so big watching this!!!! Best day everrrrrr Ellie!!! Miss you and love you!
"Can we have some towels" hahaha it cannot stop smiling !!!
MiniMeeshie i LOVE YOU SO MUCH MEESH. And missss youuuu. I'm so glad we have these videos now forever. Here's to making more sooooon!!
awesome you two got to film together! i love how michelles hair goes completely curly once she got it wet. Glad to see your twos channels doing so well thats gotta be so exciting. xoxo
The curls hahahah. Honestly I might just curl my hair like that from now on...dip it in water at the ends LOL! Love you Niki:)
Niki Murphy Yes!! It was so great to meet her in real life!! And her curls make me SO jelly!! Thank you so much my lover!! Now I just need to get together with youuu. Now please!!!
Ellko I have dark hair and I tried the Kool Aid dye too but I used 4 packets with the same quantity of water and left it on for 14 mins; it turned out fantastic
@@ellkoNYC @Elko when you wash and color her hair tip her head back with your hand under her neck to wash and color her hair with 22,000 Tin Foils
my blond friend did it with blue and it turned out great it has been lasting for the past 2 months and still is a nice blue color
Aww Michelle's curls after her hair got wet is so cute
Husband?? Wow you look young! I thought you were a student in either high school or uni!
Duygu C. Hahahaha, thank you!! I'm 24 in June. :)
Ellko and by the way i just subbed to your channel today and i must say you are one of the very few "real" people here on youtube. Hope you keep the videos coming!
Weren't they?! :):)
For dark hair u have to keep it in for about 30 min
Anyone here in 2020 just doing crazy stuff on quarantine? Nope? Just me? Oh....mkkk
When I did this, it lasted forever. I wash my hair every day and after about 5 months I finally trimmed it off. Of course it faded a little but not to a nasty orange, it was still noticeably red.
it REALLY DOES WORK! first make sure it is sugar free. I do 3 packs per 1 cup of water. boil water, add koolaid and dissolve. I let my hair sit in for about 20-30 min. towel dry and I usually blow dry and straighten right after. I have naturally dark brown hair but bleached the entire underside of my hair and that's what I use to dye with koolaid. it will show up in dark hair but not very bright. purple doesn't seem to work too well, I find cherry works the best. and it lasts quite a long time. I dye it once a month to keep the color bright but it doesn't even really need it. super cheap and easy!
No duh it wouldn't show up great with darker hair... It would be the same for real hair dye. You're supposed to bleach your hair before you add any color to it.
Actually a lot of people are saying the kool aid worked on their dark hair:)
miranda powers It does work, I just feel like more packs should be used for darker hair.
Well you have to leave it in longer than 7 min
Yes, we know that now. Thanks! :)
No with red color on LIGHT hair you leave in for seven mins with any red on dark hair leave it in for ten leave in for ten with any other color no matter if on light hair or dark
I have red hair so I'm gonna do purple ( natural red head not dyed )
cool
My hair is naturally red too!!
same
red/orange hair is beautiful ❤
hello all it is me who "curling irons her hair off"
Hi luv ur vid
Oh. It's you.
i wouldnt suggest trying the kool aid hair....i mean just based on your past
hey I remember you how old were you when you burnt your hair
+jen They mentioned her in the video... that's why she said something
It worked perfect for my nieces hair and she has very dark hair as well. She dyed it red 😊 this was cool to watch
I used this method to dye my hair, I have blonde hair and I used purple Kool Aid but mine came out red... and the dye stayed in for almost an entire year! Though when I was mixing the Kool Aid in I added about six packets instead of three.👍😋
this works really well for me. and i have really dark hair and it really changes my hair color really well
+Rebecca wade what type of hair do you have? How long did it last for you?
Tiffany N I have really thick black hair and if boil the kool-aid it should last 6 months
cool. Thank you :)
What color? I heard that red is really good at coloring.
Noelia Kalama red is the best for dark hair
I did this and my hair is light brown. The purple turned my hair green and ruined my ends :/
Sadness
The same happened with my best friend who has blonde hair, except we did a different method of dying (a method I believe works a lot better honestly)
MichaelaSharp1 how
Monica Jaramillo Mixing packages of koolaid (don't go for purple! it almost always turns out green, especially hair that's a little darker) with a little water and enough conditioner to make it a paste. It acts as a semi-permanent or even demi-permanent dye. :)
MichaelaSharp1 thats not always true. Purple is a 2nd color of blue yes but that doesnt always make it green. Blue, no matter the hair color will always fade to green and green to yellow.
hiiii ppl scrolling down the comments😂
Hi,is pretty much live in comments section..most times, the comments are better than the videos
Hi
Heyyyy😭🤞🏽
I did it once. I have natural brown hair, and when I did it I dip dyed it with the tropical punch flavor. That worked fine for me and it didn't come out until I cut the dyed parts of my hair off.
Mix the kool aid packets with hair conditioner. Put the conditioner/kool aid mix on your hair and wrap with foil. Keep on for a few hours, depending on how dark you want it. It lasts weeks. Obviously best with lighter hair.
jeez i thought you were both 16 then you said husband and i was just MIND. BLOWN.
bearing in mind that fudge and manic panic would still require you to bleach your hair first, i think you're being a little harsh.
Harsh how? We didn't say it was even fail we said it's up to you.
MiniMeeshie just the complaints about having to bleach hair for it to show up. it's not exactly unexpected for unusual colours.
A lot of the comments said kool aid worked for their dark hair if left in longer
MiniMeeshie i'd be asking for proof. first time i dyed my hair purple (i use the fudge paintbox) i did it over blonde foils and the purple only showed up over the bleached sections.
Lol god forbid you use a little lightener (bleach) its so funny to me how afraid people are of it! And you are totally right, there is absolutely no way you're going to get a vibrant result on dark hair! I don't care what anyone says, it's just not going to happen.
How long dose it stay in for because my daughter wants to do it but with food coloring
few months
like two months for the longest if you do i wrong it stays for 1 month
buuuut the food coloring is permanent
its stays for 2 months or more
my daughters hair stayed for over a year. if her hair is not used to dying, just be ready to have it forever
The longer you leave your hair in the more vibrant the color is!!!
This worked on my hair very well. I added 7 packets of red and 1 packet of orange.💆
Oh my lord, I did this before it was a hack and I would never ever do it again. Even when I watched it out my hair was gross because of the sugar, I had to go by hair dye (I did it on my ends)
There's no sugar in those small packets of kool aid they used. You probably used the wrong kind.
LittleMissRiann lol it was koolaid
it has to be sugar free
xxlovelaughlivexx20 The type in those packets u have to add sugar, so I would try it again and use those. Mine came out faded, but I didn't put it in long enough lol I get impatient.
Abigail Sawyers i dont think i will ever try it again, lol i think hair dye will do the trick. and it last longer and easier to use, lol. i did the koolaid for my tips because i wanted to see how well i looked with red, but now i just dye it every 6 months
I kool aided my hair last spring break for 20 min in boiling kool wid with 1 cup of water and 4 packs of kool aid. It's still in haha.
Same here I did mine like in the beginning of March for 10 min and it's still in there pretty well
You can search how to get it out it worked for me
Derp Ington If u want it out u can boil baking soda in water and soak your hair. Works like a charm.
your supposed to do it for 30 minutes
the purple tint looked really good! would look nice overall het hair i think
I've done this before it works really good but more with virgin hair it's really good if you don't want to dye your hair I had dark virgin hair & it looked awesome
I'm guessing purple kool-aid doesn't magically curl hair or you would have mentioned that?
Lol!!! My hair is so curly naturally that's why it curled up when I wet it haha:)
It's her natural hair they said they rinsed it.......
Lol! That would be awesome! I have naturally curly hair so as soon as we wet it the ends curled up.
+Noelle Chantel thank u:)
+MiniMeeshie don't straighten your hair it looks so pretty when it is curly
Why is her hair so curly when she takes it out ;-;
Kilokey AJ she probably straightens it and it's probably naturally curly
Ajmeyerink 13 ya I have natural curly hair and I straighten it
She probably straightened it
Louise cuz the water is hot
dude think about why would you use dark purple for dark hair like seriously
I put five packets and stayed for half an hour. I pick blue and it is really cute!
I'm doing a blue streak in my hair tomorrow with kool aid. This video helped me a ton! Thanks!
What did they expect they have brown hair 😂
i did this without prmison i got in trouble i tried to wash is out it didnt come out so i had to cut it im happy becaues i wannted to cut my hair sense forevere
WHY DID U DO IT WHILE IT WAS STILL STEAMING...........................
Tammy C do you have to wait till it cools down?
@@malani873 yes, and they did it wrong anyway XD
I have long dark brown curly hair and I used to mix red Koolaid packets in conditioner (as many packets as you need to make the amount of conditioner youre going to use to be vibrant)
and put that in my hair and left it in for like 24hrs (at some point putting foil on my hair and heating with a blow dryer for a couple minutes too) and washed it out.
My hair was a nice red-brown, very pretty, definitely noticeable.
Lasted for ages, and the tint lasted for like year.
I did this and I have light brown hair and used red. It has been in for about 4 months but I did it different.
I left it in for 13 minutes and then I wrapped it in tinfoil for about an hour. I then showered and it stayed! It was much cheaper then going to the hairdresser (there it would cost from 40-60 dollars) So I'm happy with my Kool-Aid hair :3
Wow I just love that it's such a harsh line from natural looking hair to a color... (This was sarcasm)
I want to do this but I can't sucks alot
Rainbow Kitty
Same strict parents
Rainbow Kitt
Rainbow Kitty why i have blakx hair it work fine you can see it and everythjng
Rainbow Kitty I'm dyeing my hair tonight
You need seven packets not 3
It's however dark you want it actually
+Tara Bradshaw So the more packets you put the more the color will get darker?
+Breyer Crazy. yes
+Euphoria Oh ok thank you! 😊
Hey don't correct people they were just having fun😇
i have light brown hair and used blue! came out great!
I recommend trying this again only with conditioner if your looking for more of a long lasting more vibrant color I myself have dark hair and find that this method is quite helpful 😎👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I did this in 4th grade and now I'm in 6th grade and it still noticeable
But I did rap it in tinfoil and slept in it and my hair is really blonde
@@makylahall2291 Its works better on blonde
michelle is one of the most beautiful chicks ive ever seen, top ten for sure, just incredible beauty.
Whoa thank you:)
fr
+MiniMeeshie hi
Aren't all people beautiful, tho?
pointy ass nose I almost cut my self tapping the screen
I did this about 1 year ago just in kool aid didn't boil it or anything and did to 2 days in a row and let it stay in over night and I dipped dyed it and it would not wash out at all had it in over 3 months and didn't fade at all.But I loved it.
i mix my reds , it helps show up darker & brighter
I heard this is pretty damaging to ur hair
Obviously lol. Probably why i dont drink kool aid anymore, it doesnt taste good and i mean look at this video. Its strong enough to dye your hair, like what?
It didn't ruin my hair and my hair damages really easily
Well kool-aid should indefinitely shut down if their product can be used as a temporary dye, lip stain, scrub. Plus their juice doesn't even taste good.
putting your hair in boiled water is literally going to destroy your hair hence why when you have a shower you only use lukewarm water
i love youre profil pic :3 😂
dyed my hair with KoolAid in November.. I've washed my hair more than 20 times within these 10 months... its September and half my head is still burgundy.
F A I L.
CatFlavored Ramen Why is that a fail? It lasted well!
Werent u suppose to bleach ur hair first??? 0.o
idk about dark hair but when I had blonde I would always use kool-aid to color my hair. I never did it with boiled water tho. I mixed it in with conditioner and left it in over night. I always got great results!
HOLY GRAIL!! ive dip died mine twice with blue it works!!
Did the ends of my hair in red (I have dark brown hair) in december and I is currently june and its still in but I used 2 packets per container and left it in for and hour a half
if you wanted it to stay longer u can put foil then mix conditioner with 2 packs of kool aid and rap it up after just wait an hour or longer.
My older sister did the same thing but with cranberry and pomegranate tea. totally worked.
My niece has tried the blue dye on her black hair, shows up quite well :)
my friend dyed her hair red with cool aid and it looks so awesome
Well you have to leave your hair in longer if you want the color to show with dark hair because I tried it and it worked really well!👍👍👍👍
Micheles eyes are so pretty!!!
When i did this it worked really well. The tips of my hair were really red. Its just a super long process thats so worth it. It stayed in my hair for a little over 6 months.
her natural curly hair is so pretty
When I did this last year before I watched this, mine barely worked. I have lightish brown hair and I did green and the pin I read said to not wash your hair for three days and yeah 😂 mine was definitely a holy fail
I have blonde hair and I did this way before I saw the video I did green. 2 packs of kool aid, 2 cups of boiling water, one bowl, put your hair in a low ponytail, put it in the bowl for 30 mins, after 30 mins take it out put it in foil for 30 mins, take it out, wash your hair in the sink, put it in a towel and let it dry. Mine stayed in my hair for 4 months. til I cut it and did purple which turns out burgundy lol
it actually does work I've done it before with red without pigtails & it was vibrant but it damages ur hair
I like that Michele's hair curled after
My kid got hers done mixing it with 1.5 cup white conditioner and 10 pks cherry plus 10 pks black cherry tbsp boiling water to just desolve the kool aid and add to conditioner. she has dark hair and it worked great. Came out burgundy
i did mine blue and tured out really good you put vinger in with it all
