Miguel Ramirez it's highly acidic and mostly sugar, so from tooth corrosion to stomach ulcers and diabetes, no, it's not really safe enough to drink. (IMO anyways. My boyfriend drinks like a liter a day of the stuff and so far he's still standing. hahaha)
zmashd another acidic industrial-strength cleaning ingredient is vinegar. Drinking coke within reason won't harm you :) As with anything, tbh. Also ketchup is good for cleaning your silver? something like that
Hair has a ph of 4.5-5.5 coke would dry the fuck out of it making it around 2.5 which isn't safe don't do it

the effect is caused by the phosphoric acid, a very low pH. So when you apply it to your hair, the cuticle tightens, which makes your strands look smoother and your curls look more defined. Also the residual sugar left after your rinse with water sticks to the hair helping give body and texture. In the old days they used beer as a setting rinse . you would wash your hair and then pour a can of flat beer over the hair then roll hair in rollers and let it dry. the alcohol smooths the cuticle and the protein and sugar stick to it and give body and texture to the curl and help hold the curl longer. but there are many products on the market today that are a lot cheaper and do the same thing.

I help my bestie do this to her hair and we used a spray bottle to control the Coke. Her results were awesome. She got really awesome waves. She has blonde, thick, naturally straight hair. Hope this helps someone.
I honestly think the only reason you got "texture" is because you didn't brush your hair and you scrunched it while you blow dried. I really don't think the coke did anything at all, going to disagree with you for the first time and call this a holy FAIL. I saw your before hair and it doesn't look different at all. I actually tried the coca cola method. My hair dresser recommended it for dry scalp, leave in for 5 min then shower and air dry. It actually helped a bit i just didn't continue the method always rushing w my kids but it definitely works.

It's the phosphoric acid that's inside of the coke. I guess it's supposed to shrink (I think) the hair shaft, allowing your hair to be sleeker and shinier. I could be wrong about this, but I'm positive that it's the acid that's supposed to do something.
Natalia It's like salt water, salt water tends to dry out your hair causing the "beach waves" look and coke does the same thing. However, I wouldn't trust using coke on your hair since it can be used to break down grime in toilets etc. Safer just to make a home-made salt spray or buy one from the drugstore.

I hate it when I get the sudden urge to read CZcams comments and it's all a bunch of hate and discrimination against people. It just puts me in a bad mood and makes me think why I have to grow up in this day of age. Where if your not skinny you're frowned upon, if you don't have the latest gadgets and devices your considered "poor" or if you don't have all of the expensive clothing pieces your considered an outcast or if you do have them your considered basic or a so called "prep". Why do we have to label every single thing that someone is or does? Why not just leave them alone and mind your own business? Beer doesn't contain a lot of alcohol. It's yeast mainly. That's why it's called liquid bread and you can survive on solely beer for a decent amount of time due to the ingredients and high calories. It wouldn't dry out the hair like rubbing alcohol or vodka. There's more to beer than straight alcohol. It's probably not the best, but beer rinses are sworn by by a lot of people.
@BrokenFlowerChild you're right about the beer. We used vodka mixed with water and sea salt in a spray bottle. It gave us beach waves! I remember when I went over seas to Germany we used a beer rinse for shine.

wow I tried this and it actually worked..I didn't have coke so used Dr pepper. I was kinda unsure about it at the start but I'm so glad I did it now. I noticed that when I was washing it out that my hair felt softer than normal. I also conditioned it (not sure you are meant to do that?) and my hair left so light and fluffy. when I dried it my hair looked shiny and pretty. I would defo recommended this beauty hack. x

Crayola is not toxic, although they shared that their products are not meant to be used as makeup.
I tried it and it didn't work that well :( and I agree it's not good to use as makeup! Too risky in my opinion! There's a reason why we use makeup ad makeup and not coloured pencils in my opinion :) still fun once in a while tho for Canada day, fourth or July, etc. :D
Last time I checked, orthophosphoric acid has so many uses (e.g. removing rust). Now, using it on your hair? I think that is a bad idea.
Well, cola tightens your cuticles, defines your curls and the sugars add build-up to your hair; making it look fuller. It's only bad if you do it as much as your wash your hair regularly. It's kind of like washing your hair everyday; it weakens the follicles (due to how thick my hair is, I wash it about once a week).
Okay, folks.... ask your Moms (I grew up in the 60's and 70's) and we've been rinsing our hair in coke for ages.... what it does is strip off all the residues from other styling products, and lightens it to a more "natural" look and feel. You can also get the same effect with vinegar, but the smell is (obviously) not as palatable. It also leaves your hair without much protection. So, as for getting the UV protection that most modern conditioners offer, you'll be without that, unless you put conditioner back on your hair. Of course, once you start applying OTHER hair products back in... you're adding back to the build-up that you've just stripped off, so you'll be somewhat negating the effect you've achieved with the Cola Rinse. Anyhow.... You'll also find out from Mom that Mayonnaise makes a great hair treatment for the dry, split-ends.

You should do an experiment.. maybe the no poo method (no shampoo) water only washing or baking soda and apple cider vinegar. I've been doing it for 2 weeks and my hair is soft, growing fast, and becoming healthier because there isn't any chemicals.

I hate to break it to you, but everything has chemicals. In fact baking soda and vinegar are MUCH harsher for your hair than shampoo.

Actually baking soda and vinegar aren't meant for continual use on hair, It can cause damage and cause hair to lighten. Try paraben, sulfate, alcohol, silicone and laureth sulfate free products. Though my conditioner contains cetyl alcohol, I'm okay with that one added on ingredient. I would suggest instead trying a low poo method, it's not as harsh but you get to skip out on all the silicone coatings found in commercial shampoos and on all the parabens in most shampoos that have also been found in breast cancer tissue. I use the Organix shampoo line (the Moroccan oil one) and a local organic Moroccan oil conditioner. My hair has never felt better and I dye and bleach my hair a new color almost every month (I'm recovering from over processing my hair with bleach and I'm on the road to repairing the damage and so far I'm having good results).

The last time I poured soda in my hair was in a desperate attempt to scare lice away when I was 14. Did not work. Made them angry and sticky. I ended up dying my hair to end their suffering. It worked, they died instantly, man. I can still hear the screams. I was combing dead bugs out of my hair for a week. My friend shaved her head. She made me pierce her nose with a sewing pin and oral numbing gel.

I've been hearing that even tho the colored pencils are non toxic, it's still unsafe to use as makeup. Makeup is carefully formulated and regulated so it's safe one skin but the pencils aren't. Also they harbor unsafe bacteria especially when wet.

I just found your channel and have watched a few videos now and it makes me so happy to see someone like me in these kinds of videos; I have thick, dark hair too that naturally is straight but not really straight, doing weird things at the ends that's not really waves or curls, just like yours! and also body wise, it is really refreshing to see someone more like me, like wow, you have boobs! you have tattoos! usually the beauty gurus are very small and thin with tiny boobs and arms and legs etc, and "traditionally" pretty and very girly which means that what they wear and what they do and their style just doesn't work for me. I'm so happy to have found your channel, this was an instant subscribe, you're really beautiful and funny and I look forward to seeing more videoes

My hair is shorter and thinner and the curly underneath and straight basically on top. I am going to try this to see if I get more volume and curl. Follow up in future!

I just watched your video, I would believe that it would work because Coke probably stripped some of the shampoo chemicals is your hair and just by rinsing it out with water your washing some more of. I used to use the normal shampoo and conditioners, then I switch to sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner, my hair was originally straight / wavy now it's just curly so by stripping my hair of some of the damaging products it does change the hair texture. those products just way down your hair which makes it a straight texture. try that one for a month you'll find a difference.
i think her hair looked better before she put cola in it.
