      @456antoabc Před rokem +2

      @jenymata58 I actually didn’t have a recruiter until after I got the job because i went in person and asked if Kaiser was hiring. They gave me information about coming in the next day and got the job after the interview was done. I personally don’t have a lot of experience yet and one of the questions was how much experience I had and I told her “You’re gonna laugh but 12 months” and she went hysterical soon after she said I got the job. I sat to another table with A recruiter and I filled out another electronic form and verbally accepted the offer and as of this time I’m in my preemployment process of starting which is background check, drug screen, and legal documents. My advice is if you really want it go in person, shake peoples hands that you meet. You can apply online and it does work but I’m very traditional and doing important tasks in person. And fyi I don’t know anyone that works at Kaiser or have any social connections that would help me get a foot in the door, everything was done without any help.
      I’m sending thank you letters once I officially start on July 24 to everyone involved in my hiring process I think a good gesture that I learned from this video.

    Great, advise! Multiple KP nurses have told me NOW is the time to start applying -- KPs are very short-staffed right now due to COVID burn out and it's not as hard to get into as before. I also heard they are starting to do specialty training for ICU/ED for Med/Surg nurses looking to transfer. The fact that they started the new grad program when NCAL KP was notorious for never hiring new grads, also shows KP understands they can't be as selective as before. I applied to multiple KP's and got calls for 3 so far, this is after about 3 months of applying and I didn't have to take a pre-test. I only have about 13 months of experience. On the flip side I still keep getting rejected from Sutters, and I thought they would be easier to get into.

    Can you explain why when weighing the money and flexability Kaiser Permanent vs Travel Nursing, KP took the win for you?

    • @NursesToRiches
      @NursesToRiches  Před 2 lety +5

      Many travelers come to, and end up staying, with Kaiser Permanente because Kaiser offers better wages than almost any other hospital in the country-and very competitive with travelers wages. That, coupled with the fact that as a Kaiser employee you only have to work a minimum of 20 hours per week to get health/dental insurance and every other benefit that a full time employee gets, makes it a no-brainer for most nurses.

    Thank you for this video. I have been applying to all hospitals part-time or per diem only and have had absolutely no luck since 2019. I don't have recent inpatient nursing experience and I think that might be the only reason at this point because I have been a nurse since 2006. I'll try and look through that step-by-step process and give it a final effort. It is very competitive and discouraging. I really am convinced that it is networking. Do you know of a nurse reentry program there? I have searched and only see the nurse residency program. The auto-rejections are very painful. Thanks again!

    • @NursesToRiches

      Hi! You have to work a minimum of 20 hours and less than 40 hours per week in order to be considered part time. When you apply for a position they lost the days you will be scheduled to work every two weeks. The days you work will repeat every 2 weeks. We don't have self scheduling, so you can't pick and choose which days you work. But, with time, you will end up with your dream template of days you will be required to work. For example, I work 5 8-hour shifts in a row and get 9 days off in a row every two weeks.

I started applying again recently and they sent me an email about the assessment. I had no idea what it was about and couldn’t find information anywhere about it. I figured it would be mostly Pharm and boy was I wrong. So I haven’t been in school for close to 15 years and it was all math. I found only one snip of info about this assessment and it said we would need an 86% and above and if we don’t pass then we have to wait 6 MONTHS! Do you know if this is true? Kaiser HR is terrible at properly updating their job application statuses. If possible, try to Google the manager's name for the department you applied to. If you can find their email or LinkedIn, send them a message. Or, if you have the contact info to anyone from HR, contact them as well.

    Late post here guys. But
    How does Kaiser handle their travel nurses? Any tips and recommendations for a traveler?

    • @NursesToRiches
      @NursesToRiches  Před rokem +1

      Depends, but if you're not in the ER, be prepared to be floated once or twice per shift. That's the worst part about being a Kaiser travel nurse. But, if you work in the ER, you will almost always be taking care of patients at the bedside and rarely patients that are upright ESI level 3s, 4s, or 5s. But, the one thing that is true is that if you are a traveler that's is a hard worker and are determined to get hired, you will definitely have a higher chance of getting a permanent job than a nurse applying from the outside.
