I am Vietnamese and I find Korean chopsticks difficult to use, our chopsticks are more like Chinese. I used to excitedly go buy a bunch of Korean chopsticks to use and throw away as a result. But the advantage of Korean chopsticks is that it can't get moldy and is very durable
It's too heavy to use.
@@HoraceZ919do you even lift, bro?
@@z_ed Lol
Would like to see Vietnamese chopsticks on this kind of comparison. When I go to Viet restaurants I do use their chopsticks for pho and side dishes, I really struggle with all other kinds
@@z_ed LOLOLOL!
As a Swedish person, my favourite chopsticks that I use daily were a gift from some surveilled Japanese people. They are light, pointy, and have a rough finish at their tips. And very well balanced. I struggled for years trying to use chopsticks, nowadays they are my go-to.
Me , someone far from Asia , not used to chopsticks and thinking that all chopsticks were the same 😅 🥢
I'm also a white Western guy, used to hate using them but best to keep trying them and eventually you get the hang of it. Can't use it for everything, same way there's no universal utensil for us (we need knives, forks, spoons)
Me, someone from Asia but not the East, thinking the exact same way 😅
@@adamknight5089😂I'm malaysia South east asia part and i have Chinese mixbloood, even i eating rice i use the chopsticks 🥢😂
I am an Asia from Pakistan and thought the same😅
I prefer Korean-style chopsticks (as an American), mostly _because_ they are metal. No worries about scratches getting contaminated or finishes wearing off, and you can just toss them in the dishwasher. The long-handle spoons are an awesome bonus too (bigger than a teaspoon but smaller than a soup spoon; the perfect size).
Try to eat hot pot with steel chopsticks next time xD
you know you can buy metal chopsticks that aren't Korean styled right?
@@mamba1917 Yes, but I also prefer the flat style and the fact that they come in sets with spoons.
Nah they are heavy and slithering which is harder to eat in my opinion. I am Vietnamese so Im used to eating by wooden chopsticks 😂😂
When you go to a Korean barbecue restaurant, be careful for your tongue.
As Vietnamese, I suppose the Korean chopstick is the hardest to use. It is heavy, flat in shape, and slippery, hard to use with almost foods but I think it seems more clean and looks more nice. The Japanese chopstick is better a bit but the head of it is too small and also hard to use with some foods. The best shape I think is the Chinese chopstick. The Vietnamese chopstick is almost the same but the material is bamboo while I think the Chinese is wooden or plastic primarily. With bamboo chopsticks, we feel very comfortable and easy to use with all kinda foods.
No, Southwest China use bamboo chopsticks and northern China use wooden chopsticks
I like this video. I've lived in China, Japan and Korea, and I agree that different chopsticks are different for different types of food. If I'm eating a big plate of noodles, such as Lanzhou La Mien or Vietnamese Pho, then it has to be long Chinese style wooden chopsticks, it would be really uncomfortable and slow with small wooden Japanese style chopsticks. If I'm eating a bowl of sushi or udon noodles, close to the mouth, then short chopsticks are perfect, and if I'm eating Kimbap or Bimbimbap, then metal chopsticks would be perfect too. In China, short chopsticks are used for small bowls of noodles, often simple foods, like Cantonese noodles. Long chopsticks make more sense when the food is in the middle of a large restaurant table and you're eating with several people, sharing dishes. Short chopsticks are really convenient for that.
In that case with many different sizes and types of chop sticks, it is simplistic to bring one standard spoon and fork to do the job. The Italians have mastered the pasta eating without chopsticks.
I am Japanese.
Chinese chopsticks are long and difficult to use.
Korean chopsticks are made of metal, durable and hygienic. However, there are times when the chopsticks make contact with the teeth and make a small metallic sound when eating. Therefore, I only use wooden chopsticks.
Wooden chopsticks are gentle and natural.

One of the stories I heard about why Korean chopsticks are made of metal was that, initially, it was made of silver and used by the royal families. Silver turns black when the food is poisoned by Arsenic Sulfide. It was, though, the same reason why ancient Chinese royal families used silverwares, not just chopsticks.
I love these comparison videos. The M&M challenge was great--and horrible, too! They are such slick candies!
chinese chopsticks are the most ergonomic and easiest to use. That's a fact
The way the Korean girl holding the chopsticks is very unusual and that seems to make her skill quite clumsy🥲
I'm a Brazilian who lived in Korea for 6 years and now even I don't live there anymore I use both fork and chopsticks at home depending on the food. There are a few kinds of food that the chopsticks work better than the fork.
thank god you're back!!!
In our household we use both Korean and Japanese chopsticks depending on the meal; because I'm Korean and my wife is Japanese.
I find Korean chopsticks to be the most challenging for me to use which is why I make myself use them most often. I figure if I can get comfortable with them, I’ll be more chopstick proficient overall. Plus then when I visit Korea someday, I’ll be all set! My preferred chopsticks are Japanese though. I have small hands so the lightness and pointy ends are optimal for me.
Korean chopsticks are heavy
Chinese chopsticks are longer and thicker because they're used for communal dishes that you have to reach for and get a good grip on some of the heavier or slippery foods.
It is kind of funny what happens if you are inexperienced with chopsticks and then you have a night out with a bunch of Chinese friends. I went out once with my Chinese roommate and his 4 friends, and the first little while, it was quite awkward... I eventually got comfortable using the chopsticks, but they all found my style really funny for a while LOL
They’re all adorable.
Eu amo o idioma coreano 🇧🇷❤🇰🇷
It became a competition lol
Chinese chopsticks were mostly ivory back in the days that's where they get their beige color from for their plastic version. These days Chinese chopsticks could be either wood, metal or plastic.
Chinese chopstick is longer because of many different dish is served in one course. That make chinese chopstick is longer that other 2 chopstick. Korean use metal because they food use many fermentated dish if they use wood it will leave smell inside the wood. And japanese chopstick smaller and pointy because they used eat many seafood. And smaller and pointy chopstick allow them easier to pick fish bone when they eat fish.
I think metal korean chopsticks come in handy because when I seen when Koreans are cooking they use the metal chopsticks to stir in the pan and the chopsticks won’t burn because it’s not made of wood so that’s actually a good thing
Japanese and Chinese uses wooden chopsticks to stir and fry food too. And actually if the chopstick is full metal the heat will go up to your hand.
@@JeanSamyr yeah but atleast the chopsticks won’t burn because it’s made of metal
@@Nisha_xo Actually the wooden ones don't burn either. I have some really long and pointy made of bamboo and they didn't burn, and I use a lot.
The only downside is that they absorb some of the liquids.
@@JeanSamyr I’m saying if you leave it in the pan for a very long time it will burn
I think it's important to know that. Korean chopsticks used to be round they went to flat metal to be conservative. I can't remember the exact reason why but it was like during wartime or something and it was easier to maintain. I think like supplies were sparse and the metal would last longer and take up less space because it's flat. Less material was needed and that's why they made it flat
It is not a matter of preference, as each type of chopsticks corresponds to the food culture of its respective country. For example, in Japan, there is a tendency to enjoy meals quietly and place importance on the interaction with the ingredients. Metal chopsticks, on the other hand, have high thermal conductivity, making it easier for the heat from the food to transfer to the chopsticks. Additionally, metal can react with the ingredients, potentially compromising the flavor of the food itself. The sharp sound produced when they come into contact with dishes or utensils can also be considered a negative factor in our culture.
food culture? yes, agreed. rest of ur analysis? i don't think so.
Japaness pointy tips make easier to eat fish. that's why.
Chinese traditionally use big table, hence the long one.
and Korean metal chopstick? here's more easy answer.
Metalworks had been developed early in korea, brass kitchenware were in general use in chosen era.
common people were easy to get metal spoon & chopstick.
I reallllly miss heejae and byungeun plsssss cast themmmm with seolhwa or hoseung in the next video acting really romantic scenes from American movies we miss their love
The metal chopsticks do hold heat. I don't know what she was thinking. I have metal chopsticks at home and when you use it to grab noodle from soup or anything from the soup it's very hot and burns you.
That Korean holds her chopsticks like a toddler lol
As a Turk who had never used chop sticks before, Korean chop sticks are very difficult to use. I find that it doesn’t make sense with the idea of a chopstick because it’s too heavy and really hard to handle and get a good grip on especially wider things.
There is a country right down China having used chopsticks for 1000 years and having their own chopsticks’ features but always be forgotten, Vietnam. Just hope that there will be videos including them too in this kind of comparison
I just use whatever chopsticks are availble. They all work the same for me.

I live in Japan, and am used to Japanese chopsticks. But sometimes I come across Chinese and Korean chopsticks in restaurants. Usually I find Japanese chopsticks good for precision handling. Korean chopsticks are good too, but little bit heavy. It may not matter to a first time user, but for someone using wooden chopsticks for 20 years, I struggle to find the balance. I was told Koreans switched to metal to prevent wasting wood, which is nice. I think there was a move in Japan to switch to metal chopsticks as well, but it didnt hold much ground.
Oh btw, we reuse our wooden chopsticks in Japan at home. In restaurants they distribute single use wooden chopsticks.
I don't reuse disposable chopsticks at home.
Japanese people have their own chopsticks for personal use at home, and even family members do not share chopsticks. Also, we do not reuse disposable chopsticks in restaurants. All disposable chopsticks are disposable. You're wasting wood and you need to take it seriously.

I learned how to use chopsticks when I was 8 year old at school.
My teacher asked us to pick up snacks with chopsticks.
That made me hurry up to eat snacks and did not pay attention the right way to use chopsticks🤣
Can you use them easily now, however?😁👍🏽😋
he did the chinese girl dirty suggesting her chopstick skills were weak. Personally I dislike korean sticks eventhough the metal is the best material
Liked the video ! 🌟😊😆
As a Japanese it’s funny that Japanese chopsticks are shaped to eat sushi😂.
Sushi is just a part of the food culture and people eat it just occasionally. It’s ridiculous hypothesis.
Yeah and I thought sushi is traditionally eaten by hand, isn't that true?
@@fabienvdp545
That's right.
It is traditional to eat sushi with your hands.
Eating with your hands is the original way of eating.
Many Japanese have forgotten the traditions of the Edo period.

They are so cute❤
i bought Chinese type of metal chopsticks from Shopee, and the seller claimed that to be Korean Metal Chopsticks.. 😢 but actually it's thick & long Chinese Chopstick.. only the materials is from Metal..
That old timey saloon piano music 😂😂😂
You guys forgot to put a Vietnamese girl in this video. China, Vietnam, Japan, Korea all use chopsticks since the dawn of their civilization.
Hyejin is cute. Nice to see her again.
Japanese chopstick is thin and small at the end is because it can be use or function like fork.
I'm Asian I can use any chopsticks fine
For me as a Korean some of the chopsticks in Korea are round or like flat. But yes the flat ones can be really hard lol not going to lie.😅
Be aware that Korean metal chopsticks can also be used as weapons.
Imagine getting stabbed in the eye or through the hand with those.
We miss Hee Jae!!!
I didn't know they use different chopsticks
Not the man saying “you’re worse” then only picking 3 and 5
His English was direct translations from French so it didn't accurately convey his intention. What he meant was that she had no right to accuse the Korean of cheating since she cheated herself.
"Hey you cannot talk, you're worse" was a bad translation of "hey tu peux rien dire, t'as fait pire" which means "Hey since you did worse, you shouldn't do that"
❤❤❤❤❤lovely vídeo 😅put subtitles in ALL idioms 🍷🍷🍷🍷💐💐💐💐
doesn't matter who's better. chopsticks come from China. it can be wood, can be longer or shoter, doesn't matter
They got hacked?
The channel "World Friends" was also got hacked and changed the name. Then the channel disappeared.
Oh! I wondered what had happened. Suddenly everything was gone. I'm assuming everything is reset because it's all back? 😱
Best chopsticks are one use chopsticks, since they are the same in China, Korea and Japan.

Different chopsticks 😭
Man, I didn't know some Asians can't use chopsticks properly. It doesn't matter what material it is, using chopsticks should be natural if it was learned from early ages.
What was the point of the guy being there?
Leaving the chopsticks in the dishes (3’47) and putting elbows on the table are not good manner in Japan.
Those must be great for soup.
I remember that I traveled to Malaysia for 1 week with my parents when I was 13 years olds, I supprise because they did not use chopstick for eating, and then I asked my parents why they do not have chopstick, and my father said that only Vietnamese use it, other country will use spoon or hand. And along time later when I was 16 years olds, I moved to Taiwan, I was so supprise because Taiwanese also use chopstick. After that, I understood that some my neighbor (Chinese) also use it, but the character of chopstick is completely different.
Your parents are not that smart huh?!?
Beautiful woman 🥰
Loved the second chopstick battle. Always enjoyable!

why are they picking up ONE bean or ONE M&M, you scoop with the chopsticks like how you eat rice with it... you don't eat rice one grain at a time you hold the chopsticks open a bit and scoop, the rice will stick together and you eat it. ...scooping is what they should have tested, not one at a time.
I think ive eaten too much japanese food cause im faster than them xd
korean metal chopsticks are anti human beings.................
as chinese i'm totally ok with japanese chopsticks, i'd say i prefer japanese chopsticks even better than chinese.
but korean metal chopsticks are really difficult to use.
i heared that in the past metal chopsticks were only used in korean royal family, that makes sense, only royal family eat so anti human beings 0-0;
as normal person , you don't have to eat so difficult 0-0;
Both are improved versions of Chinese chopsticks
You are right about that. However, improving on existing tools (or technologies) is more important than who invented it. For example, Chinese invented gunpowder, but they only used it for firecrackers, whilst the Mongol learned from the ancient Chinese and used it for weapons.
Foreigners like the Japanese chop sticks because it's easier to stab with 🙄
Hyejin is so sweet 😊
I have used chopsticks since I was a child. If I got all 3 of the chopsticks, the Korean ones will be left untouched.
They are all unique and best! Stop put 'who's better' in the title! Dislike!
Korea can solve the chopstick trouble, Just only do chopsticks from plastic, the metal chopsticks are stable and pretty to see and use, but they conduct eletricity, in many cases in open enviroment its not a good idea eat with them in story, rainy day
Plastic is so much worse for the environment then metal. Also the idea that metal chopsticks will attract lightning is ridiculous.
@@DavidCruickshank Right? Your body is a bigger lightening rod, lol. I could _maybe_ see toddlers sticking them electrical outlets, but that's really no different than other metal objects.
KOREAN CHOPSTICKS ARE THE WORST OMG you really need a lot of training and skill 🤣 its so heavy and so thin and flat my hand always starts cramping after i use it for too long. chinese chopsticks are the best 🥳🥳🥳
Absolutely right. They are so heavy, thin and flat. I get so irritated using them because it’s so difficult to pick up food. Chinese chopsticks are still the easiest to manage. Japanese chopsticks are not too bad but the end part is a bit narrow and sharp
