Let me start with a story:
Akbar said to Birbal, we Muslims have Allah, Christians have Christ, Buddhists have Buddha. But you Hindus worship so many God's. Why is it so?
Birbal said: God is one but his names are many.
    Akbar: How is it possible?
Birbal summoned a servent who was wearing a “Turban”. He pointed to it and said: “what is that?”
    Servent said: A turban.
Birbal: Untie it, roll it and tie it to your waist.
When he had done so, Birbal askes, “what is that?”
Servent answered: A Kamarbandh (waist belt).
Birbal turning to Akbar: you have seen how the same cloth acquires different names when performing different functions. So also water can be a cloud when in sky, it is rain when it falls to earth, it is river when it flows, and ice when it freezes.
Hindus are monotheists. There are not many Gods in Hinduism. There is one God who has many names and forms. I can give you one example, a mother can be mother to her child but she is a wife of your father, she is a daughter of your grandparents, sister of her brother and sister, mother in law of your wife or husband etc.. so all these members of your family will call her in different names e.g. MAA(mother), Didi (elder sister), Masi(Aunty), Bahu(daughter in law) etc.
When she loves you or comfort you her form is very calm and loving, when she is angry with you her face shows anger like “Kaali”(goddess), when she gives you money she is worshipped as “Laxmi”(goddess), when you want to worship her to give you knowledge and skills, you worship as “Saraswati”(goddess).
We Hindus see God everywhere even in mosque that is why we go to “Dargah”(shrine)

Hinduism is one of the world's oldest religions, and it has a rich and diverse pantheon of gods and goddesses. It's important to note that Hinduism is not a monolithic religion; it encompasses a wide range of beliefs, practices, and traditions. As a result, the number and nature of Hindu gods can vary depending on regional and individual beliefs. Here is an overview of some of the most prominent Hindu gods and goddesses:
Brahma: Brahma is often regarded as the creator god in Hinduism. He is said to have created the universe and all living beings.
Vishnu: Vishnu is one of the principal deities in Hinduism. He is known as the preserver and protector of the universe. Vishnu is believed to incarnate on Earth in various forms, known as avatars, to restore cosmic order. Some of his famous avatars include Rama and Krishna.
Shiva: Shiva is the god of destruction and transformation. He is often depicted as a meditating ascetic, and he is associated with both the destruction of the old to make way for the new and the cyclical nature of existence.
Durga: Durga is a powerful goddess who symbolizes the divine feminine. She is often depicted riding a lion and is known for her role in slaying the demon Mahishasura, representing the triumph of good over evil.
Lakshmi: Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and good fortune. She is often worshiped to bring about financial and material success.
Saraswati: Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, arts, music, and wisdom. She is usually depicted playing the veena (a musical instrument) and is revered by students and scholars.
Ganesha: Ganesha is one of the most widely worshiped deities in Hinduism. He is known as the remover of obstacles and is often invoked at the beginning of new endeavors. Ganesha is easily recognizable by his elephant head.
Hanuman: Hanuman is a monkey deity and a devotee of Lord Rama. He is known for his incredible strength, loyalty, and devotion.
Kali: Kali is a fierce goddess associated with destruction and time. She is often depicted with a dark complexion and is a symbol of the raw power of the divine feminine.
Krishna: Lord Krishna is a highly revered deity known for his teachings in the Bhagavad Gita and his role in the epic Mahabharata. He is often depicted as a charming and playful young man.
Rama: Rama is a prince and the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. His life story, as told in the Ramayana, is a source of moral and ethical guidance for many Hindus.
Surya: Surya is the sun god and is worshiped for the light and energy he provides to the world.
Indra: Indra is the king of the heavens and the god of rain and thunderstorms. He is a prominent deity in ancient Hindu texts.
Yama: Yama is the god of death and the lord of dharma (righteousness). He is responsible for judging souls after death.
Varuna: Varuna is a god associated with the cosmic order and the oceans. He is also a deity of justice and morality.

but I would like to add some points
we as a Hindu have two major trinity group male and female
male one consist of lord ( BHARMA, VISHNU & SHIVA)
female one consist of goddess( SARASWATI, LAKSHMI & PARWATI)
ALL 6 of them are most important and respectful and most powerful deities of Hinduism and respectfully are each others husband and wife.
And durga, annapurna, kali and sati are different avatars of goddess Parvati so IF YOU ARE PRAYING TO PARVATI THEN YOU ARE PRAYING TO ALL OF THEM.
and so RADHA IS AN AVATAR OF GODDESS LAKSHMI & BHAMRI IS AVATAR OF GODDESS SARASWATI.
Ganesh, Kartikey & Mansa are siblings.
Sashthi or (devsena) is wife of Kartekye and daughter of Lord INDRA.

    @adarshsudhakaran3766 Před 8 měsíci +8

I have lived my entire life in India and followed Hinduism. Even though the video has covered many deities I find some details incorrect (if I can use that term). First of all, Hinduism is not really a polytheistic religion. The supreme God of Hinduism is the 'Para Brahman'(not to be confused with 'Brahma' who is one among the Hindu Triumvirate) which literally means the supreme being. Some people like to worship Para Brahman with a form and address God as 'Saguna Parabrahman' and those who worship a formless God address God as 'Nirguna Parabrahman'. This fact about one supreme being is mentioned in various religious texts including the 'Bhagavat Gita'. Now the different Gods that ordinary Hindus worship are considered to be either various manifestations of Para Brahman or enlightened divine entities who are just below Para Brahman. Now the video already discussed the Triumvirate: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Note that Brahma, even though considered the creator God, is NOT WORSHIPPED. There is a story behind it. Which brings us to Vishnu and Shiva. Those who believe in Parabrahman with form can be divided into three. Those who believe Shiva as the supreme being are called the Shaivites. Those who believe Vishnu as the supreme being are called Vaishnavites. (The division was very much prevalent in ancient India but now its less apparent). Then there are those who belive that the mother Goddess is the supreme being. All of this can get confusing. Hinduism is not a philosophy that one can understand so easily.
Now the most popular Gods in India(this is where I have so much disagreement with the video) are:
    Shiva( and his different forms)
Vishnu( and his different forms like Sree Krishna and Sree Ram)
Goddess(and her different forms like Parvathi, Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kali etc)
    Ganesha/Vinayaka/Ganapathi(God of good fortune)
    Subrahmania/Muruga/Karthikeya(worshipped mostly in South India)
    Hanuman
Ayyappa(also widely worshipped in South India).
Some people worship Shirdi Sai and consider him part of Hindu pantheon but others disagree.
One must understand that Hinduism is so complex and diverse. The beliefs, the Gods, the rituals, all vary across different parts of India. (The fact that in states like Rajasthan, most Hindus do not eat meat whereas if you go to Kerala or Tamil Nadu, most Hindus not only eat meat but they eat Beef which is considered a taboo by conservative hindus in north India).

    3. We don't worship Devi Sati as Sati but instead as Shakti peetas (parts of her chopped body which fell on earth and manifested into a deity of their own) eg. Bhramhari Devi who is the 6th Shakti peeta (you can consider them idols in temple) and called Bhramarambika Devi. Also Sati was the first form of Adi-Par-Shakti (Bhagwan Shiva's female counterpart) and his 1st wife. Thank you for uploading this video. I'm new to learning Hindu mythology. I already knew Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati. But the other gods and goddesses I haven't heard of. After watching this video, I got thinking it would be cool to make a video game taking place in ancient India. The gods and goddesses would be a mechanic in that they would offer their powers to the player characters. The default gods and goddesses would be Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati. The player characters would have to venture around ancient India and obtain the powers of the other gods and goddesses. Anyone got any other ideas?
