I literally have the most power PC you can build to date i9 14900ks 6.3ghz OC RTX 4090 24GB Vram 128GB DDR5 7600mhz and it still drops to 2 fps, it's the game engine limitation, not hardware
The error cannot be reproduced, this file format may not be supported. Bro what should I do? screenshots and sound are in the folder as they should be, it worked before, but now it doesn’t. Why is this error even though this is a regular video file?
It's a 3080 Ti system but I think I kept that recording part short by speeding the video up like 2x, just to keep the overall video length shorter. I figured ppl got the idea of that part being laggy without having to sit there for 2 mins watching it lol
Sounds like the game physics is running at the correct speed but your mouse movements are too fast whilst recording perhaps? Keep your mouse still and record something really laggy, you'll see what I mean.
the recording works perfectly fine, I like that, but when I try doing some extreme destruction like the one in the video the game stops working (it closes/crashes) Is there any way to fix that? I use an rtx 3070 (I also use structural integrity test mod)
Structural integrity mod adds a *lot* of workload to the physics calcs and if the per-frame calculation time gets too high then Windows will stop the process. I'd be confident the same explosion would work and not crash the game without structural integrity mod 🤷♂️
what is the filesize of the .mp4 file? It sounds like it hasnt rendered properly/anything and there's no frames in the mp4 file. Windows should definitely play the h264 rendered mp4 file without extra codecs, so seems like the mp4 is broke somehow.

Is there a Teardown folder there? There should at least be the Teardown folder there, then the Movies folder within that. If the Teardown folder is empty you might have to make an exception for it in the 'controlled folder access' section of Windows Security
@@SLGY Nevermind about what I said earlier. I now have a movies folder in the Teardown files by simply doing a screen recording in Teardown and it automatically made the folder.
Hi, I tried to do this method but somehow, there's a missing file inside the movie file. I only have the capture file but I don't have the makemovie file. Can you help me? I might accidentally deleted it.
When this has happened to other ppl it has been their antivirus deleting or quarantining the makemovie file. Have a look through your antivirus activity log/history and see if it deleted it.
mine used to work, but it doesn't let me run the batch file because it says there's no ffmpeg exe, so i reinstalled it and added a new one, but it still doesn't work
Windows will usually just delete simple things like bat files that it's not sure of. You'll need to add an exemption for that whole folder in your antivirus then validate files in Steam so it re-downloads the makemovie bat file
You're moving the mouse too fast when recording. Do a video of destruction without any mouse movement and you'll see physics time is running normally, it's just you're moving the view around too fast. Sometimes you can only move the mouse like 1mm per frame, gotta be so slow with it if there's lots of lag.
Have you tried recording a movie in game first? It won't appear until you record something. If it doesn't appear still then it probably means your antivirus is performing controlled folder access which blocks the game from making files in the docs folder. Try turning off controlled folder access if that's the case.
Hey it’s been 2 years now and I. Have a question about this so when I record how do I stop myself from slowing myself down because when I do it it slows me down
Edit/open the makemovie file with notebook and write "cmd /k" at the end of your batch file. Save it and rerun it. This command will prevent the command prompt window from closing and you'll be able to see what error it gives. We'll go from there
Oh right, sounds like when you recorded the movie it didn't save the frame to the folder (often a windows feature called 'controlled folder access' causes it) can you see all of the individual screenshots/frames in any of the folders?
Sounds like the game crashed when you were recording and didn't output the correct files. Is the audio file (same folder as the pictures) zero file size? If so it means the recording didn't complete correctly and needs to be done again
With some mods you can delete the .vox file for the tool from the specific weapon mod folder and then it can't load the tool/hand. But I'm not sure how to do it on the default weapons 🤷♂️

It's probably controlled folder access problem in windows 11. Add the teardown folder to the list of exceptions in antivirus or turn off controlled folder access 👍 hope that works
@@SLGY managed to figure it out before you replied, it was the antivirus causing problems, when i get the chance im going to uninstall Avast because its giving me more problems than its solving. but yeh, its working fine now, only slight problem iv having is that the video quality is a bit low but that's a problem with the rendered images so i dont think there's any way to fix it.
If you need to increase quality you could right click and edit the makemovie.bat file and change it. There's a parameter sent to ffmpeg you'll see in there called 'crf' and I believe the default number next to it is 20, you can try lowering it (lower is better quality) although 20 is pretty low already (range is 0 to 51). Another thing to try could be to change the profile from 'fast' to 'slow' so it does a better job (but just takes longer obviously). But yeah, if the original images coming out of the game are low quality then ffmpeg and makemovie can't fix that, that's just your graphics settings I suppose?

The game's physics engine only runs at max 30 calcs per second I believe, so the screen recorder only does 30. Just duplicate frames to get it up to 60, that's all the games does lol
I've had this a couple of times, for some reason just loading up the 'simple house' map and starting the recorder there worked, then when I went back to the other map on which it was crashing it seemed to be working again... maybe that'll help?
You don't need to launch ffmpeg, it's just used by makemovie.bat in the background. So makemovie should close by itself once it's finished processing (can take a while), does makemovie.bat not close?
Yeah Windows 11 has this weird thing with controlled folder access. An exclusion can be created in the folder access settings I'm told - but I never got this to work in Windows 11. I've since gone back to Windows 10
A few ppl have said that in the last week or two. I'll have to see if mine is working still. It was always pretty glitchy, it's probably worse now if they haven't been updating it 😕

Then the footage will look jerky and awful. Try moving the mouse as fast as possible when there's lag and you can see in the video result

it's limited to ten thousand frames
I think the most frames I ever used was like 4000. 10,000 frames is nearly 3 minutes and that would take hours to render if there's lots of lag 🤷♂️

Might have to add an exception in your Windows 10 controlled folder access settings (In Windows Defender settings)
