England have never had a talent problem…they’ve always had coaching and culture problems
Having a manager with a complete fear of attacking, even when we have far better attackers than defenders. Plus the mentality amongst the players is still the same shoulders slumped head down loser mentality that has been there since about 2006.

@gazof-the-north5708 well maybe not someone whose only achievement in club management was taking over middlesbrough who was a team that was in the UEFA Cup final and getting into Europe in consecutive seasons and being an established premier league team for over a decade and getting them relegated and they never really recovered since. I'm not saying they need a Guardiola, just someome with some actual management success.

England is far too clueless about international football to win anything. Out of all their nominated players, Bellingham is the only one that plays outside of the PL. While he does seem confident and experienced for his age, he will not be enough to give the entire squad a feel of familiarity with different football and the players that play it.
This England team are nowhere in the same level as Spain 2008-12 c'mon let's be serious here😅.
I can see France all over again and again in every Final possible cause they have actual Talents like Mbappe, Camavinga, Saliba, Nkunku, Tchouameni, Dembele, Kounde and Theo just to name a few and not overrated descent but not world class players like Rice, Grealish, Shaw and even Maguire 😂😂🤦
England had Lampard, Gerrard, and Scholes and thought they were better than everyone else, Spain had Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets with David Silva, Xabi Alonso and Fabrigas as alternatives but never bragged cause they knew they were better than everyone else, they let their football talk and brag for them.
France are average at best the one who makes that team what it is is mbappe

They almost won a back-to-back World cup final missing half their usual starters and and playing half their bench, all of whom are under 25 years in age most of whom had never played in senior tournament before. Many of their U21 team is playing for big clubs (Mathys Tel at Bayern and Warren Zaïre-Emery at PSG). Mpappe is 24 and yet to hit his peak. Plus they have a coach in Deschamps who has taken the team to 4 finals, won two (WC 2018 and CS 2021). Hardly average.
England are a good team, a solid team, but have no where near the depth of France, and are ham-strung by Southgate.
Under Southgate? Not a chance. He already blew it against Italy, twice on the same night. Surrendered to them in normal time then had a 19 year old taking the final spot kick in a European championship final. We should have won that final easily in normal time, and end up losing it in a penalty shootout that we were actually winning in. No way am I believing this PE supply teacher is going to ever win a tournament for England, let alone two of them.

First time in 20 years that I consider England a real chance to win. But ONLY if they play aggressive like they should. There's NO reason for England to sit back and let other teams dictate the game when they've got so much attacking talent. They should've beaten France.

I honestly believe it will be criminal of this generation of England players do not win a tournament. There was big mistakes by the manager against Croatia in the world cup semi final. There was big mistakes against Italy in the Euro's final by the manager also in my opinion. In fact Italy won the tournament through a really good manager. He managed the players he had brilliantly. Our manager didn't simple as that. My only worry about not winning anything is the manager, we've definitely got the players & no one can argue with that. Put it this way if we had a manager like Pep, Jose, Klopp, Ten Haag any top manager I'd put my house on it we'd win something.

This is different. The 'golden' generation were never a team. Just a few cliques that had been put together. They never had a chance. Today's England team can absolutely win something, if they get a better manager.

A manager like Jose would never manage a national team, infact, he rejected the Portugal job. Managing a club and managing a national team are two difference realms and top managers know that, that's why you rarely see a manager like Jose or Klopp manage a National Team.
We have the players but gareth doesnt know what to do when the chips are down he has no plan b. These are the most creative players england has ever had but he doesnt know how to push them. Also he keeps picking maguire who is not playing and hasnt played that well in the last few games we need someone better there who can be molded into playing that postion and build a squad.
Southgate always has a blindfold to what’s going on in the game in real time. He cannot sniff out tactical changes, nor recognise opportunities. The players need to do a Chelsea 2012 and do their own thing on the pitch. You cannot trust Southgate to make a good decisions.

Southgate would be excellent for the connective tissue of young players coming through the england setup. So Under 16s - U18s - U21s but he is not world class game manager material. Thats where he has been shown up time and again these last few years. He should go back to running young player development. His strengths really suit that kinda job.

The problem will be in game management. They can absolutely go on to win it. But if you don't make the right calls in those crucial moments, they won't win.
