I love having the AB switcher. It really helps you get the best out of both of your amplifiers when you compare them against each other. You always end up with optimum results when you do this

That amp is such a beast! I always liked it when it first came out before the concentric knobs & all that. The EL34 is nice but the blue channel is kinda meh. At least to my ears. Excellent video as always dude! Keep doing the good stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤘😁🤘

I have this amp and have it set pretty much identical and it's a fire-breathing monster! The only difference is that I like a less hairy and tighter rhythm sound so I keep my blue Channel gain at about 2:00 and have a Keeley compressor in front of it. But yeah that's crazy, pretty much every other dial is almost exactly where I have mine and I run it through two Orange ppc212s and it just screams!!!

Dude awesome video as always… you my goto for dialling in amps👍 Recently traded in my EVH Stealth LBX for the 50watt Stealth 6L6…. Damn this amp is insane. My local store had the 50watt in stock and got a great deal on the trade. I Have it going into my Mesa 2x12 V30. I can live on the Red channel for the rest of my days 😄 happier than a pig in shit. The best part of day is turning this amp on after work 🤘🔥🤘 cheers dude 🍻

@@rousey83 I use mine only at home. Get an attenuator… best thing I got as a tube amp lover is my Two Notes Captor X ! Then play any amp you want at home at any level and it sounds great 👍
Even some lunchbox amps are too loud for the home. No issue with an attenuator !

Jarrod this was awesomeeee...sounded great...between the Mesa Mark V 25 and the 5150 EL34 which one would you recommend with respect to being able to cover mainly 80's rock/metal and 90's grunge...thanksss
Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed the episode. I would say either one would do very well for you. If you're going to get the EL34, make sure you do the mod so that the blue channel isn't so muddy.
Honestly, I would just go with the stealth though.
what is the cab do you use for this vidéo? mesa recto horizontal or compact?
Wondering how the 6L6 Stealth version compares with the EL34 EVH 5150 III.
I like this a lot..I got my 50 watt Stealth head in January and it is amazing..with my original 5150-3 50 watt head it was so dry I always needed just the slightest bit of reverb to moisten it up,my Stealth 50 needs nothing..it sounds so much better than my original 50 watt head..but I still use a little bit of reverb for leads mainly.
I just checked my settings on the Blue channel and almost the same as yours,just the Presence to 1pm mid 11 am..Resonance at 1pm...Red channel I run the gain at 3pm for that sizzle and serious sustain...running through my Laney 2-12" with a Vintage 30 and G12H-75...just sounds so massive its my favorite amp I've ever had or played.

I agree, the 5150-3 Was too dry for my taste as well. The blue channel didn't have enough gain for me anyways. They really do everything right with the stealth. It's about as good as it gets with this series of amplifiers

I run my stealth through a Mesa thiele cab loaded with a 1 X 12 EVL and it sounds beast AF! Crushes for days.
Damn that amp sounds good...are you boosting it, or is that just straight amp??100 watts sound a little bigger, but 50's have a bark that the 100's don't have...

Hi there! Awesome demo and you are an unbelievably good guitarist. Question if you have time: what tubes are you running? If you retubed from the stock ones? Right now i have tung sols for the preamp and sovtek wxt+ for the power tubes. Also, i am running througha 2x12 with greenbacks, but i also have a pair of V30s... after your demo, i think im going to try those... greenies are spongy and more organic. Thank you very much again.

I believe at some point, I replaced the pre empttubes with tung sols and liked those.
The power tubes are stock.
I've never tried it with greenbacks but I really like it with the v 30s.
I definitely want to get some greenbacks sometime in the future and try those with some of my amplifiers as well

I ordered mine in the US, but never got a shipping notification... 3 or so days later, I contacted the store and they apologized to me saying it was out of stock and they could cancel the order..
However, I got 20% off, so I wanted to know when it would be in stock... They said they'd notify me as soon as it was available... But couldn't give me a date. Now, over week later, still no answer... I missed a couple buys that were in stock as I wanted to hold onto my 20% discount, but now I fear I'll have to wait 3 or 4 months. UGH.
@@XChristianNoirX Oooh. I hope you get it man. I`ve checked with a couple locals here in Norway wich have in turn checked with fender EVH. they are several months away is what ive been told. Guess its different from shop to shop though. Checked with thomann and Andertons and the are also months away for new items :O
What I have been finding more and more this year is that everything is hard to find. Because of the whole pandemic, a lot of people are out of parts and other things that they need to make products with.

Sell the mini 6505 and get the sleath, it will do everything 6505 better plus more.
Is there a way to set up your rig so the OD pedal goes off automatically when you switch to the clean channel, or do you have to tap dance several times?
Great question! I use a helix or a HX Effects via 4 cable method. With snapshots, I can turn any pedal, including the overdrive pedal, on and off depending on what channel I'm on without having to do tap dancing
if you want to use separate effects pedals the Boss effects switching system should be able to do it since they have MIDI but they aren't cheap.
I watched a newer video of yours comparing the 100w to the 50w stealth and your overall opinion is that the 100w sounds thicker/fuller. Are you still of the opinion that you can get the 50w version to sound close? Or does the 100w completely blow it away? :D I wonder if using a 4x12 Mesa cab would improve that lack of low end... hmmmmm.
It can sound close but never as full. Also, with the Easter eggs in the 100 W I think it's just a much better amplifier.
I have the 50 watt stealth and a 4x12 Mesa. And to me the bigger cab makes up some of the low end. I tired the same settings in the video and it can get a little to much when you push the volume. For 2x12 I believe everything jarrod says. But again. A 4/12 does make a difference.
What kind of effects u using
Just got mine 2 weeks ago. Using my Headrush (4CM) without amp & cab sims for effects. Have EQ and volume pedal in front, then EFX Loop patch with time based efx in the efx loop. Any suggestions on how to get I/O levels correct on the pedalboard so as to not adversely affect the amp output sound? OBTW, this is an incredible amp. I even like cranking the gain on the green channel for a little dirt.
Did you ever get the I/O settings?
@@Lesspaw41 I/O settings from where? I’ve messed with this until blue in the face. No matter what I do, when I disconnect the Headrush from the amp and play direct to the amp, it just comes alive. It is not right running through the Headrush.

Parts tolerances are never 100% the same either. Great effort though dude. Sounds dope.

Hi! I'm a new owner of a EVH 5150 III 50S. The amp has a big noise problem. I mean: when even mothing is plugged in the ammount of Niagara falls noise, when you raise the volume above bedroom level, is ridiculous. Is that normal?

Hey! I have this amp and was thinking about putting in fairy light like in your thumbnail. It’s just a big string of usb fairy lights controlled by a remote. That’s safe for the amp and lights, right?

Good question. I have not tried either one of those amps. I'm sure they are great. All I can say is, for the money, this amp really checks all the boxes and sounds amazing

I have my stealth a year now. The best amp I bought in decades. Gives me an erection everytime I strike a power chord 😀 ( and I’m 56). It destroys my bandmate’s 100w Marshall. Awesome video as well with good dial in suggestions. Thanx

That's a MM Petrucci model so that's a DiMarzio CrunchLab in the bridge and a LiquiFire in the neck.

I'll have to put them in a side-by-side shootout to give you a definitive answer. I will say that both of them sound amazing. If memory serves, the Kraken is a bit darker than the Stealth.

I have the 100w head and matching 4x12 cab... I use red channel and prefer it without my tube screamer. It is already tight and saturated and compressed, no need for overdrive

It sounded way better without the overdrive. Once the overdrive was on it was a mess.
When you play metal, especially tight riffs, an overdrive is always called for. To each their own
TONE WARS I know. That’s what I play but it’s just over saturated and has no clarity with that much gain.

TONE WARS Thats fine for a live lead tone but if you took that to a studio they would back that gain off by 50%.
