      arguably taxation implies that there is not peace unless 100% of those taxed do it voluntarily... facing penalties and fees or being taken off to jail by lethally armed government officials simply for not giving the government money that they say you must simply for existing is not peace.

      The spoils of peace do exist. It is growth of the species that adds to you. New technologies, culture. That is the ultimate spoil of peace. A dead race offers nothing. The same principles applied to the Borg where they do not assimilate whole species even if they can. If they value and see the species as something that can evolve them, they only take what they need. Do you really think they have no power to conquer the while Alpha Quadrant or even the galaxy? They absolutely can but choose not to.

    The pain agonizer has been perfected over the decades to direct intense severe pain to the parietal lobe of the brain. At a certain level that tolerance is overwhelmed and directed to various stimuli across pain receptors all over the body. The agonizing pain booth can direct intensity towards any area it deems more receptive for maximum effect.

    The one real thing that doomed the Empire to wither and die was not alien armies, it wasn't intergalactic foes or hideous cyborgs. It was one neverending thing. The patient dark of space. The Empire had conquered and either destroyed or subjugated every world within its ability to reach. But warp technology in all realities is a product of cautious and measured improvements. It still took years to reach distant areas of the galaxy. And this was due to the constraints of the ultimate warp factor in Star Trek, and that was at least until the late late 24th Century and early 25th Century. And that was warp 10. And until slipstream and transwarp drive was invented, all known dimensions would be constrained to this limit. So that basically left the Empire with only three options.
    Option 1: Send sleeper ships with crews in stasis for decades to reach other quadrants of space and with sufficient resources to establish conquests of their own. (Risky and expensive, as the Empire would only know of their successes or failures after a signal taking years finally reached Terra. And that's assuming anyone even wants to inform the Empire).
    Option 2: Survive long enough to either invent transwarp or slipstream drive, steal it from an advanced alien race who has developed a version of advanced warp drive. Or develop their own device to "discover" a dimension who perhaps might have invented such advanced drives and use it to further their own development.
    Option 3: (Most radical) End their conquests and retreat the Terran Empire to a more manageable, controllable, and sustainable level, with while not peaceful, perhaps a coexistence with their non Terran neighbors.
    Option 3, while offensive to the Terran Empire (They are conquerors by nature) makes the most sense in the short term as it will give them breathing room, and perhaps allowing subject worlds to have some modicum of freedom like allowing them religion, allowing them to represent their world to the Imperial Senate at least as advisors, and allowing subject races to serve on Imperial Starships. This will help to forestall rebellion among their worlds, allow them a greater pool of scientific talent to perhaps speed up the process of inventing a better warp drive, and finally perhaps allowing some small amount of wealth to be kept in their planetary coffers. And perhaps, the Empire might just realize it has reached as far as it can go, and perhaps take a less militaristic stand on its subject worlds. And with time, perhaps a mutual cooperation can be achieved.

    • @KnowTrentTimoy
      @KnowTrentTimoy Před 3 lety +5

      @Tejesh Patel I AGREE! Everything went bad for Burnham as soon as she wanted to "fire on the Klingons first". That war should've never happened because in canon it never did. The writers did a lousy job portraying her First officer character traits. Sonequa does have a tendency to over act at times but the character is a good character. This season is by far, Discovery's best.

    • @KnowTrentTimoy
      @KnowTrentTimoy Před 3 lety +1

      @Tejesh Patel Exactly! Good actors sometimes underestimate depth and they end up bringing more volume than is appropriate. It's like using a kitchen fire extinguisher on a house fire that's already 50% destroyed. Hence the "Mary Sue" analogy.
