My apologies if the audio isn't the greatest, this video was filmed before I got my new mic! BTW just wanted to remind you that y'all are an amazing community!
Love you bro
we love you
@@georgerockson5886 I love y'all too!
@Gyasi Linje, I am thinking of getting a mouse and keyboard, I want to know if u can swipe between screens on your mac with the logitech mouse. Apple mouse seems way too expensive for the value.
@@peteragent6646 What do you mean by swiping between screens on the Mac?
Loveee frontend development. Software engineering is seen as so technical but FE development allows me to be so creative☺️
I feel this🙏🏻
That’s great! I’m coming from marketing, learning FE development. I was worried about the creativity aspect. Super excited to get started!
Just followed you!!! I need more Black women to look up to !!!
@@OrincyWhyteDesigns Aww thank you I appreciate that!!😊

This is my first and last time to watch vids from this channel..
2 minutes of the 13 minutes video is useful info
@@amwalonline me too
watch at 1.25 speed to save some times.
Oh; and the video start at 4:44
Your the real MVP lol 😂
THANK YOU
Thank you!
Thank you
Why does everybody just want to hyper speed videos these days...
That ad was too long that I literally forgot what was the topic of the video
I hate when ppl start the video with "I know I haven't posted a video in awhile".... like bro, we know you have a life outside of this. Just post as if you neva left. Stop explaining yourself. We rock with ya !
There's usually a reason for everything. If he's saying it most likely someone in his audience said something. He's probably just being extending that explanation to those folks.
And do you really "hate" it? Lolll that's really harsh.
I'm truly curious.
U focused more on advertising webroot than talking about frontend dev... Its shameful!..
I have no idea what you said, but watching this video was sooo therapeutic to watch/listen to for some reason. The tone of your voice, the music, the color scheme, the flow & tempo of your speech. It makes me intrigued to learn exactly what you're talking about. This is a foreign language to me, but this video was amazingly relaxing to watch
I'll be honest, I keep feeling like I'm ready to launch into the job market for FE development but then keep second guessing myself. This video really pushed me to realize I probably have exactly the skill set necessary to land a job. This was what I needed to see, thank you.
did you got a FE job already?
@@Str8x0wnage unfortunately no. Part of this was due to some things coming up in my personal life over the last 6 months, but also a lack of actually getting any interviews. It's hard to get noticed as a self-taught dev, but I'm not letting this deter me and I'm restarting my job hunt here in the next couple of weeks.
@@JBurky15 im in the same boat rn lol
Update
@@JBurky15 Do you have a portfolio?
I’ve been a graphic designer for the last 5 years and I’ve lately been doing more web design work at my agency. Usually a CMS, but I get the chance to custom code to meet the clients needs and this has sparked my interest in front-end. This video has been super informative!
Great description of FE, as a process engineer I often work directly with FE to creatively design or adjust features based on customer feedback throughout a process. Keep up the great content.
Front end development is much more fun than software development, not to mention easier as well! That’s what a lot of those bootcamps teach and you can make well over 6 figures being a FE engineer with years of experience. This is my dream career transition from my IT support role!
As a fullstack engineer I must disagree. I think Backend is actually easier.
@@zanidd speak for yourself 😂
@@zanidd why do u think so pls share ur opinion with me and thx
@@zanidd I agree
@@JC-fd8ho you usually don't have to deal with multiple viewports like browsers on mobile, tablet, desktop, ultrawide, etc.. + you build something and it looks good in chrome and then open it in firefox and it's a disaster. Your website may look good on Google Pixel phones but then on iPhone 12 it looks like garbage because the height is different.
Plus you have to make it look good and habe nice UX if there aren't dedicated roles for it in the company
Backend has its own issues whe you start dealing with queues, multiple datasources, distributed systems and async.
But it usually is easier than frontend in my experience
I’m watching this video and decided to click your link for your personal website when you mentioned your resume and it’s absolutely glorious, I love the layout and the drop down menu (Im on IOS). Really makes me want to try and do this stuff!
ChilledCow in the background! Great video man!
I must say you have a really nice and clean setup overthere, that all white look just so good. Oh and also that pen at the side of the laptop that's pretty cool, love it great video. Btw I'm a junior front-end developer I can relate.
I usually spend 50% of my FE engineering time crying because of CSS, responsive and browser compatibility
I dropped FE for that sole reason. Bored me to tears
@@Irishpierre1 what bored you? CSS?
There’s always SASS :)
CSS is hell mate. I feel the pain
@@bkr_vids it's just the same as CSS, but with more power
Great video, and awesome overview of your setup. Thanks!
Thank you for this video! I'm starting a journey from full-stack to front-end, and i found your informations very useful. :)
You channel is growing faster good job bro
Great to know, not many people talk about what they actually do at work too much.
Really like your videos man! I can relate to them, I am a student in a coding bootcamp and I can't wait to be on the job market!
Props to the low fi hip hop sounds for background noise on the left side of your monitor. I do the same. :)
Love your videos, Gyasi!
Very helpful video! I want to make a career change but not sure if I want to do front or back end web development. I’ll have to go catch up on your other videos 🙏🏽
Thanks for the info man. Helped a lot with my decision making for my post Uni pathway :)
Starting an awesome new dev job next Monday. This video was so helpful! Thanks for making it.
How is it man? I just started on my coding journey. I’m nearly done with HTML and I’m moving onto CSS. I hope to transition into a front end career within the next year!
How are you to this day???
Could you explain your setup, looks great! I look forward to your future content, i would love to more how a project starts, players, plans, expectations, etc. Subscribed!
As a student looking to go into front-end development, this video was super helpful!!
Thanks for sharing as always!!
This was really helpful. Thank you very much!
I've been looking for a video like this for years!! Most content creators give you 3 minutes worth of B-Roll & useless social interactions with co-workers they don't talk to regularly. I don't mind the ad/affiliated plugs(get ya money) but this is exactly what I been looking for. WHAT DO DEVELOPERS DO?!? Thanks bruh
I go to a community college for Graphic Design classes, and I recently discovered how much I love FE since taking a class for it this semester. After a lot of research, I'm thinking about dropping out and taking a FE Bootcamp.
I love your setup, it is so clean, tidy and bright.
Your vids modivate me somewhat, one day I want to become a front end web developer.
I’m loving these videos Gyasi!!! I love front end development and I hope I can get a career at a big tech company. I will be finishing my bachelors in computer programming in 2 weeks!!! Your videos are inspirational. Keep it up

Hi! Although this was a year ago thanks for the insight! I’m currently studying to become a Full-stack developer, have you stayed a front-end or have you changed positions? Also have you ever thought of changing to a more software engineer role?
I love the MKBHD mannerisms haha you've got the copy down
love the workspace!
Hey just found your channel. I want to teach myself to be a front end dev and you are a great inspiration. My goal for 2021 is to learn HTML, CSS and a little bit of vanilla javascript .
I've learned html5 , css3 (not that much) , javascript (ES6) , functional programing , Reactjs ( with context API ) last year .. I think that you can do a much more bro .. The process is not that hard ( only css hahaha ) .. hope you'll done well !
@@moyassin76 thanks for the encouragement
Hello kervin,
Did you achieve your goal for this year?
@@alishamas3044 hey Ali I just got around to doing html and css not giving up though
@@Kervie100 Just read your comment about starting 6 days ago, if you’re trying to learn these, I’ve gotten discouraged before, but Colt makes the lessons a breeze and I feel confident that I’ll learn a lot! It’s 60+ hours of HTML, CSS, and Java Script. I’m nearly done with HTML!
What camera do you record on if you don’t mind me asking?
Thank you for the video :) Stay motivated to make new ones :)
Don't get me wrong but Front-end developers are important, even more so than backend devs. You can have a complex backend but it's all comes down to what the user experiences, the front end. This is from a backend dev :)
But here in India not much respect for the craft 😌 and even for MEAN stack no one is ready to pay much
I get your point
What is like water? One thing I notice, I like the minimalist look, your walls look like web pages?
very interessting! and nice quality! greetings from germany
It's amazing how every video about what this job is, people explain it like they're speaking to a developer. Bringing up concepts and words that a newbie wouldn't understand. Are these videos truly to help people trying to come in the field or is it to impress or prove something to other developers?
Ok, I’m confused. Didn’t you switch from Mac to Windows?
So what’s your workflow? I’m Mac based at the moment, but I’m thinking of building a machine to run Linux on a VM.
Is that going to cause problems when working with designers? What’s your experience been?
Felt like I got clickbaited to watch a 5 minute video of sponsored ads.
I'm a diesel mechanic at the moment but software development has me very interested. So interested that I'm going back to school for computer science. Your channel helped me learn alot about the lifestyle I'm going after. Keep up the good work 💪
Go for it. I met someone once who transferred from being a car mechanic to front end dev. He was very successful.
Any update??
Awesome, man! Any updates?
Do you think it is possible to combine working as a programmer with other studies, for example working and studying a different career at the same time?
I think one of the biggest reasons why I love FE is because you can visually see your progress as you work and you can incorporate creativity.
Now BE on the other hand...
With BE, you'll need to imagine what it is, if i got it right

Hi my brother, I am about to make a decision to go for computer science or computing ! Which course do you think is a better option? My plan is to gain as much experience with programming as possible, do a masters on cyber security and get into this industry.

I want to ask a question as an example. How long do you run a slider app? I started a few months ago. I'm working slow :( Is this normal?
Video actually starts at 4:45
Hey Gaysi, do you do portfolio reviews?
Where did you learn front end development? Do you suggest any courses?
Oceans of blessings y'all
What are the headphones you're using in the video?
Hey man, new subscriber here. I recently started my self taught front end journey and you seem very insightful. I have a question, from your experience working front end, are you responsible for the design of a web page on how it’s suppose to look? Or is that predetermined and you basically just code it all together to make it happen. Thanks!
Well it varies, depends on your clients or the organisation you're working with. Some like to pick your brains for ideas while some give you a particular design to code out.
Yes
If you don't mind me asking. How is it going? what are the challenges are you having being self taugh?where can I get the best information for teaching my self? I would really appreciate it if you answer. I new to coding and I would like to give a try front end Dev
@@rosspainting9499 did you give it a go?

Is it possible to be a front end developer without being artistic or are natural artistic/design skills required for the role?
Can you do a tutorial on how you made your website? Thanks
What education and/or certificationa do
you need?
My boss wants me to learn front end web dev. What should I know before I start to learn ?
Spotted lo-fi beats to chill by. lol
Honestly, the fact that you spent most of your video shilling your gear for your amazon affiliate links instead of actually getting into what a front-end developer does and the fact you have that annoying background music being louder than your voice makes this video a real waste of time. The title of this video gave the impression that you would give a generic explanation of what a Front-end does, all you did was tell us what you do at your job. You've put in a lot of effort into the visuals I'll give you credit for that, but man you need to get to the point, stay relevant to the title of your video and stop shilling so much otherwise your channel will stay small.
can u give us tips on how to gain money as a front end developer? (as a freelance for exemple)

Do you need to know about UI/UX principles as a front-end dev?
The audio is a little low, but awesome video 💯
Hi Gyasi Linje,
I recently received my Full Stack Developer Cert but never was able to get into any work. I had to fall back in my System Administration side until I can find a job to give me a try. During the Boot camp I started to really fall in love with Frontend Dev.
I currently handle my personal and business website as well as the website for my community group I am apart of and a few family members.
What advice would you give someone who is trying to get back into Frontend Dev?
Html, css(flexbox, grid),learn to build every component from custom styles,
Best practices.
Javascript-try new mini projects and practice
Then Try React,Angular projects via courses/youtube
which part of GH are you from....?
Didn't really explain what a frontend developer does. Just what a frontend developer uses
