I love that when Andrias is revealed to be the villain, he doesn't drop his goofy, jovial, eccentric personality. Like, it wasn't part of the act, he just happens to be a tyrannical backstabber as well. I also love the animalistic stance and roars he makes while in battle. And then of course, there's the complete callous of what he did to Marcy. He just works so well as an antagonist, and for me, he's right up there with the Disney Renaissance greats.
Super thanks for the Super Thanks, friend ☺️ And I can’t stop thinking about what you said about Andrias’s personality. It really does make his character all the more believable to see that his jolly act wasn’t a facade, but just a nuanced part of his overall profile. Definitely getting old- school Disney villain vibes from him!

True colors was an event when it came out. From the collective outrage at Disney and iTunes for leaking it, to the cast and crew begging people not to watch it until it aired properly. And the fact it starts with a content warning which is unheard of. Everything about this episode was awesome especially the first real look at Anne's powers (Super SaiyAnne blue) and Marcy getting stabbed was wild
And the fact it was delayed only hours before it premiered

I know it would never happen, but I wish wish that scene in the beginning never happened
Marcy saying "i gave you this" it's my favorite line in the whole show,the VA did a fantastic job and it demonstrated that Marcy saw the end as a justification for the means , which is also the reason why she sided with Andreas even knowing the consequences that her and her friends would never be able to get home .
Also Sasha's dual blades appeared on The Owl House as an easter egg, it's on The Edge of The World and can be seen hanging on a wall
you know i don't blame marcy to a degree but there were lots of people effected by that decision how teriffied do you think annes parents were for months its was supposed a fun day for them and it turned into a parents worst nightmare
Matt Braly knew what he was doing making Marcy so lovable just so this finale would hurt all the more.
I agree. It was shocking.
I love how that mural was enough for Grime to go from "I'm taking over the kingdom" to "no guys, seriously, Andreas is BAD and by sheer coincidence I *ACTUALLY NEED* to ovetthrow him."

True Colors was a true EVENT! So much happened before, during, and after it.
Being in the fandom back then was truly a blessing.

I’ve said this before, but I like to think that True Colors was a huge reason why people who weren’t already reacting to Amphibia needed to react to it, and rightfully so. Easily one of the show’s best episodes.
After hearing that the episode’s original release date was delayed because of Disney’s bizarre scheduling, I - along with hundreds of fans - logged onto CZcams the following morning and found the full episode not knowing that it wasn’t officially released - it was leaked through iTunes and Disney really screwed up, and I initially thought that delay either got canceled or was just moved to the following day. Of course, I still watched the official release, but keeping that episode knowledge to myself for months was exhausting because I didn’t feel comfortable talking about the episode, even with people who did see it; it just didn’t feel right discussing Matt Braly’s work when it wasn’t how he envisioned its release to go.
0:28 Also, yeah 😂 Alex, Matt, and Dana must get a kick of debunking the “Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and Owl House are in the same universe” theories with easter eggs like this. They genuinely love referencing each other, which is sweet, but the author of that book was Dr. P, which got hundreds thinking it was either Ford or (if a time skip was possible) Dipper.
This episode was actually delayed for a while. Disney required them to add the warning at the beginning and the Season 3 intro at the end to show the audience that Marcy was okay. Well, okay-ish. Not dead.
0:27 - Not a lot of reactors notice that quick shot of Bill Cypher in the book there. It's been flat-out _confirmed_ by Alex Hirsch, Matt Braley, and Dana Terrace that Gravity falls, Amphibia, and The Owl House are all in the same canon universe.
13:10 - Another thing to notice is the show title card at the end of the opening, in the background behind the "AMPHIBIA" is a picture of what looks like three humans, two with swords and one with a bow, fighting a giant frog monster. It's been there since the very first episode, and so many people never notice it until it's pointed out.

True Colors is one of the most heartbreaking episodes. Anne has super saiyan powers. Marcy getting stabbed was the most saddest part I've cried

This episode was a genuine “you just had to be there” moment in the fandom, and it’s obvious why. It’s the highest rated Amphibia episode, sitting at a rating of 9.7 out of 10. I loved it, and I’m excited to see your reaction to season 3. It’s an amazing season and great conclusion to the series.
Anne has the power because remember it wasn't drained from her completely at the temple.
So does that mean she could've gone super at any time before ?!
@bluebellsforever No. We saw in this episode it took a powerful emotional trigger to fully activate, and when it did she took back some of the power from the music box.

Here it is, one of the best episodes of TELEVISION. It's truly a masterpiece, I also just love how the title works in so many ways:
1. Sasha and Grime's true colors of taking over Newtopia and soon Amphibia.
2. King Andrias' true colors of being more than a king, but a tyrannical conqueror.
3. Marcy's true colors of her plan with Andrias and getting the trio stuck in Amphibia on purpose.
4. Anne's literal true colors when she activates the power of the blue stone.
MAN, I love this episode, it's perfection, and I can't wait to see you watch Season 3. It's a SLIGHT step down, but the first half of the season has some of the most fun episodes of the series, and the show sticks the landing in every way.
This unironically, one of the best episodes of a TV show I've ever seen and it's funny that it is in a show for "kids"
God I LOVE THIS FINALE.
It's such a huge shake up after the last episode ending on such a positive note. I think the title is almost too perfect, everybody reveals their true colors, Sasha by still betraying her friends, Marcy with her secrets being revealed, Andrias dropping the benevolent king facade, and in a way, Anne by tapping into the powers of the stone, it's such a good episode.
The reveal at the start is a game changer, it shifted my entire view on Marcy the first time I watched it, made me go through every interaction and so many points, so many things said that pointed at this, the anxiety, the fear, holding onto Anne and Sasha so tightly and yet they slipped away somehow (this is especially seen in Day at the Aquarium), her monolog is heartbreaking but the way she tries to justify it is so good character wise, love it.
And man they had me with the Sprig fakeout, it's so well done, had me tearing up the first time I saw it. And it's crazy how that plus the Polly thing brings you into a false sense of safety just to hit you with Marcy at the end, what a way to end the season.

This is one of the greatest season finales in all of animation, and I’m glad you finally got to see it, also always an experience seeing Anne use her powers for the first time, the music, the animation, it’s breathtaking
0:27, not as focused on as Bill Cipher, but can we just appreciate GOLIATH on the right page?(AKA "Gargoyles", who was voiced by Keith David(who voices Andrais). I feel old now.
"Get ready for the PAIN!" Lmao, Polly with the tiny dagger. I like how this calls back to a lot of things(such as Hop Pop being an actor(PS: Nothing in Amphibia is ever filler).

A lot of reactors guessed that Marcie was behind them being stranded at the start when she took the picture. I'm really glad you didn't, as I love that realization hit!
Frobo being destroyed, Polly's legs, Sprig being dropped, Anne getting her powers... I get chills at the animation as she first channels the box and Sasha: "This is not a human thing...."
That backstab, jesus, the backstab...I just lost it. I couldn't handle it, especially since the music went DEAD.
Can't wait for you to start on season 3, it's gonna be amazing to enjoy your first reaction to it! It's like reliving it!
PS:I know it's a stretch, but I'd suggest you also react to the "Theme Song Takeover"they did for both Sasha and Marcy's entry to Amphibia! They're short and funny, and they won't spoil anything now that you've finished season 2.

You said it. From Battle of the Bands to... THAT! The previous episode was to lower your guard. Nobody is ever ready for what's next! The warning was no joke. The intro from Season 3 wasn't originally there. So you were left with the uncertainty of Marcy's fate.
Hehe, how we miss living with the ignorance of "this looks like a cute little frog show" don't we? 😭

The time has come. Season 2 finale and the moment when Amphibia goes from enjoyable to special imo
What’s crazier is that I (still) can’t really be mad at Marcy. Yes, an argument can be made that her actions aren’t really justified too much (I think there could be a fine line between what’s justified and what’s understandable), but come on. We’ve all done some crazy things as young teens out of desperation. (Probably not the best argument, I know, but just let me have this. She’s been through so much 💚 😢)
This episode to me is the most perfect example to why Amphibia was one of the best Disney animated shows ever.
True Colors were finally revealed! I've been waiting for so long for your reaction to it. I love your reaction, it's perfect! This episode hits hard, it changes everything about this show. I could not have imagined a lovable goofy cartoon shift so drastically in one episode and showing Marcy getting stabbed. That was just wild. It broke me!
Yes, 'True Colors' is THE Amphibia episode. It's still mindblowing how many solid plot twists and a well-founded drama the crew managed to fit into one not-so-long episode. And while Sasha's betrayal was more or less obvious (although after the previous episode there was some hope for her) and the king's shadiness was openly hinted before, Marcy's role and agenda in all that happened is a real shock. But looking back you may notice that they were always there and just seemed much less important at that time... And now, when everything is revealed, you can appreciate her tragedy - instead of bonding them together, Marcy's actions seriously damaged Anne and Sasha's friendship not only with her but also with each other, she was betrayed and literally stabbed in the back by the person she trusted the most in Amphibia and the last thought she probably have before she passed out was that all the people she loved now despised her...

They didn't animate the entirety of what they storyboarded of the fight between Anne and Sasha. At one point during the original storyboards you can see Sasha blocking and dodging Anne's slashes with her sword. The reason I'm guessing it didn't make it into the final version of the fight is because, if you're paying attention to the attacks, it's clear at one point that Anne tries to cut Sasha's throat.
This is the most epic and most emotional episode of Amphibia I've ever seen! and I love him!

13:13 They drained their powers into stones again remember? They were all able to do all of these stuff and more but they gave up on them without even knowing but Anne stopped the draining process before it can finish so she can still use a bit of those powers
As always, Amphibia knocks it out of the park with their use of music! Then all the music stops and we are left in silence while Marcie's fate sinks in.... Just excellent!

True Colors is a season finale that is filled with many surprises, and one that did not hold back on anything it delivered. Watching your reactions to season 2 was great, and the fact that you have many questions leading into season 3 is understandble. True Colors is one of the absolute biggest mindfucks I've ever seen in any show EVER. What an episode holy smokes. It just absolutely does not let up. I was inconsolable after this one.

Anne wasn't drained from the power of the stone in the second temple so she was still connected to it and that's why she was able to get powers from the stone on the box (look at her eyes)... The other two girls were drained though

Charging the stones is supposed to drain the power from the girls which severs their connection to them. Since Ann didn't charge her stone all the way, she was still connected to it and could tap into that power.

question to anyone who watched true colors when it was leaked - was it the same as the “official version” or was it different? always wanted to know, but never got to asked bc I started watching right before season 3B came out and never got the chance to ask.
My mind was really blown by this episode! It pulled my emotions in every direction it did so much and yet somehow it didn't seem overly rushed. That said I tottally understand being disappointed in Marcy but I can't believe anyone would say she is worse than Sasha. Luck is the only reason Marcy's mistakes had worse consequences than Sasha's mistakes. Just look what their intentions were Marcy was very naive and selfish but she actually thought her actions would make Anne and Sasha happy; Marcy even said to Andrias "you said no one would get hurt". Meanwhile Sasha and Grime litterally started a war!

Here we go! Things finally change.
What’s sad about Marcy desperation here is that she was only looking at the Growth they bought, not the scars they paid.
What’s also tragic about this is that Sasha fell victim to “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” trope. Because of all of her deceit and manipulations, the one time she need Anne to trust was in vain. Thus, she paid yet another heavy price.
True Colors is one of the insane and cinematic pieces of media I've ever seen. It almost feels out of place with the rest of the show. I never expected a goofy show about colorful frogs to go *THIS* hard with the emotion and stakes. Like, sheesh. I had actually already vaguely heard about True Colors before binge watching the series, and yet this episode still left me speechless, lol. I knew the episode ended with a character getting stabbed, but I didn't know who it was. I thought Anne would get stabbed.
I really recommend everyone to watch studio Ghilbli's Laputa castle in the sky

Disney panicked at the last moment, even though the planning for Marcy's seeming death was over a year in prep. Last minute changes were discussed, but the full episode was leaked overseas so the full length episode was broadcast a week later, uncut. The warning & new intro were added to the broadcast to show that Marcy was in a tank of some sort with an oxygen mask, though that was not part of the the original plan. Pretty amazing episode, wasnt it?

@@bluebellsforever Would you rather we didn't know how she got to the point she did when she finally changed her mind? It sounds to me like you just don't like slow burn. Without all those moments of doubt she never would've had her redemption at all, if she did that would've felt very rushed. And random. Like you said her betrayal, which was hers and Grime's plan for most of the season, was.
