    • @haph2087
      @haph2087 Před 5 měsíci +28

      Minecraft was originally written to be a web game. The graphics of the game left a *lot* on the table to make it lightweight. Since then, while there have been changes and updates, it hasn't really been fundamentally reworked to optimize it. Also, the mobile versions (with the most users), wouldn't be able to see as much improvements as java/windows/console versions (yes, I know Bedrock edition is "all the same", but a PS5 is not an iPhone.).
      The biggest problem with using LOD's for large render distances presently is that the generation of chunks is *such* a cpu-intensive process, that generating a 500x500 chunk area or whatever you can practically render, would be absurdly slow. Flying around with elytra can quickly outpace a cpu with only a 10 chunk radius render distance, trying to do the same with a 250 chunk radius render distance would be a joke.
      If an LOD system and a world generation optimization were built hand in hand, it might be doable, but Mojang's probably not going to take that risk.

    • @haph2087
      @haph2087 Před 5 měsíci +8

    I am using distant horizons with shaders. I have to admit that there are some things that crush the illusion a bit, because it renders the side of a mountain based on the block which is on top, then creating the side giving it the same color. So if there is grass on top of the mountain, it is green from the side. But this does not bother me at all. Looking into the distance, seeing a hill range with realistic clouds covering up some areas so light gets blocked by the clouds in some areas and seeing the fog covering that area is just so awesome. I cant explain how much i wanted that for years.....

    Nvidium is great except for the issue of not supporting shaders. Overall I'd say use Distant Horizons, not even the beta version just in general. The multiplayer aspect doesnt make sense either since you still need to visit the chunks to have them rendered in. With Distant Horizons you can use the server side fabric mod to load generated chunks onto your client, also if you have somone who was rendered the chunks on the server manually by flying or walking everywhere he could just share it. Also a paper based plugin for Distant Horizons is in the works right now

    • @Ohmz27
      @Ohmz27 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Just tried Voxy myself and I'm sticking with it. DH does a better job of forcibly generating distant LODs, but Nvidium+Voxy run so so much better for me. I couldn't really use shaders enjoyably with DH as the FPS just wasn't there, but Voxy+Nvidium is a different story. I know shaders shouldn't work with Nvidium but this isn't what I found, Bliss/BSL/SEUS all seemed to work fine for me. Maybe some FOG is missing, but all my fave efforts were working flawlessly, and at FPS similar to what I get with DH+Nvidium and no shaders lol.

    • @NeseComedy
      @NeseComedy Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@Ohmz27 Yep, the only reason for DH is official Shader support at this point (in the dev builds), Voxy supports it, but doesn't really shade it niecly outside of the vanilla render distance.

    • @Ohmz27
      @Ohmz27 Před 5 měsíci

      @@madscientist3800 It's not a placebo lol. I have 24 render distance but can see for miles and have yet to observe a chunk unloading/disappearing, all while I have a good uplift in FPS. I have BLISS shader enabled too, with it's custom sky/clouds visible, real-time 8k shadows, waving foliage etc. These effects are obvious and can't be confused with Vanilla/Native. Nvidium + Voxy does seem to allow shader usage, I tested ~9 and had good results but settled with BLISS. I know Nvidium should disable itself when shaders are loaded, I read a comment where someone said they got Shaders working again by re-enabling Nvidium after loading shaders so I thought I'd test this after installing Voxy, and to my surprise Nvidium hadn't disabled itself. I thought surely it wouldn't be working regardless of still being enabled, but it was. DH's LODs are more atmospheric than Voxy IMO so I kinda miss that, but being able to play comfortably with shaders and huge view dist is a no contest.

      @Ohmz27 Před 5 měsíci

      @@madscientist3800 Well you're wrong. I've clearly got BLISS shader and nvidium working at the same time - the effects from each are super obvious so it's wild to me you're saying I'm suffering from placebo lol you must think I'm an idiot. How can Nvidiums' persistent chunks be confused with vanilla, you think I'm confused and imagining chunks being there when they've actually been occluded from rendering? I've created a new world with 24 render distance in MC and have explored 500+ chunks wide at least now - I've never once seen a chunk disappear and can now see massively into the distance, all alongside BLISS's custom skybox/clouds, real-time shadows, tweaked AO, waving foliage etc.
