Yes it it fried my MS-70CDR pedal 😭 it won’t turn on..... FFS, I shouldn’t have been greedy for MS-50G amps
@@pongtrometer oh shit, really? you did everything correctly?
@@pongtrometer which version did you use 1.1.0 or 1.1.1 ? Did you manage to fix it??
@@mrfeenix1 1.1.1 still not fixed 😩...do you have any solutions...cheers.
@@pongtrometer Hello, Sorry no . I'm trying to see if it's worth attempting but all the comments seem to be people saying they will but no one comments if they did and it worked (or not). If it won't turn back on it's probably bricked. If it turns on then do a factory reset (which you probably know already)
This opens a whole new possibilities, i have the Zoom ms70, but now il get some more of the used cheaper ones to put the same goodness inside, thank you!
"I gave you more effects than you could ever use in your life"
* laughs in kevin shields *
Huge bonus, that noone has mentioned is the cleanup affect. If you didn't add a single effect, and only removed the crap you don't use, that's a huge improvement for this little pedal. I'm definitely going to look up some info about this pedal now. If the effects are good quality, I'm in.
Indeed it is good for cleaning up the stuff you don't need
My zoom G1XON is now basically a Zoom MS-70CDR
Downside is I can't assign any of the effects to the expression pedal to control any parameters (not that I needed to but just for additional info)
And also I can't use too many of the effects from the MS-70CDR at once as it takes a huge chunk of processing power
But now I have access to cool sounds and just use the volume pedal to create ambient stuff.
I know this is old, but are you saying that there is more room to run big reverbs and such or is that a separate set of memory?
The single coolest how-to video EVER! That format was fantastic.
Thank youuuuu!✌
Wow this is awesome! I have two ms-70's and have wanted an ms-50 for a while now to get the amp and pedal tones but now I have one of the ms-70's setup to do just that, works flawlessly!
Sounds amazing!!!
I recently discovered your channel and am so happy it exists. Thank you for this!!! I'm buying this pedal now...
Hey man. I am also glad you discovered my channel. :) Welcome on board. There's a lot of new content on my list for the upcoming weeks.
I love my cdr. I picked this one for the stereo input aswell and the fact that I have way too many distortions/ overdrive/ fuzzes and not enough delay and Reverbs. Crazy stuff your doing! (I love that Kevin shields jesus)
I did it last year in my Zoom G1ON and it was amazing! MS50, 60 and 70CDR on it, becomes my sounds really great!
The MS50/70CDR was the best investment in my pedal chain that I made in a long time. I'll probably get another one of these very soon.
That's why I love this channel, always surprises me with the thing I actually need. 🤔
I did it yesterday with my B1on and I added all the reverbs from the MS 70 CDR. It's easy and it works
🙏🎸
Oh shit I didn't know this also works on the B1on. I suppose the FX from the CDR are better so you can't stack 6 effects anymore? (Or however many you could stack before)
Dang this is interesting! I'll probably be grabbing a G1on then!
The opening to this was legitimately funny, well done 😆
Heads up, many of the effects in the MS-70CDR, and the additional effects from these others pedals will sum to mono, so even if it has a stereo input it will be handled as mono in the signal chain.
Yeah, I think so, too. And I never really use the stereo input anyways. But it's not too bad to have the option.
“So you need more effect”
Really cant argue with that.
The editing in the video was pretty damn good! Thanks for the info and video!
Worst case scenario, if this does damage the pedal, can you just do a factory reset or firmware update to fix it?
Now I want a Zoom MS even more, I feel like I'm missing out. Thanks for the guide!
Also holy crap, look at all those spambots
i always enjoy watching your videos ;) keep em coming
I'm amazed that the MS50-g has most of the effects indicated in the manager. I also noticed that the G1X-on is essentially a MS50-g but with a looper feature and a control pedal. I'm already looking for one since they are actually quite inexpensive compared the the MS series. Thanks for sharing this.
ive been thinking of buying the MS50 G and now i want it even more, thank you for showing this!
I was on the fence about getting the ms50 but the amount of effects really attracted me. Now it's just looking much more likely that I will lol
I love that you didn't even try to hide that you've already visited all of the Google links.
Haha. Amazing acting here.
Hmmm .... Great presentation. But now you've got me wondering how a Zoom MS-70 CDR (with a fuzz, distortion or overdrive effect added,) would work with a synth. Because I tried hooking up my Zoom G1xon to three different synths and got really harsh buzzing, making that Zoom pedal unusable with synths. Except for maybe reverbs and delays.
Did u check volume levels? Could be you are overloading. Guitar signal is tiny compare to a synth in.
This is such a funny video, great work - I hope we see that scary hacker guy again in a future episode - he is destined for big things, maybe his own Netflix series
Mr Robot
Great video I want to buy a zoom multistomp on eBay.. but I wonder if the seller has already updated to the 2.0 or 3.0 firmware this hack could still work?
the manager is really cool, but I found if you have the ms 50g you don't gain much unless you want the bass effects. besides that it already has everything, except 2 or 3 effects that are exclusive to the the cdr. still cool, plus it lets you clean out any effects that you don't use
Great hack! Worked for me. Love to have some Fuzz and Distortion FX on the MS70 🙌
Bro I’m cracking up only 3 min into the vid. Thanks for the tutorial I’m excited!! Will you be sharing the new patches you cook up through the manager??
I'm currently creating sounds with these. I could defintily do that.. if I'm not in prison by then. 👀
Thanks a lot for this mate! I was on the verge of buying a MS70-CDR anyway, but this has just made it a must-have now... 🤯
Kindest regards from North Wales dude and thank you once again! 👌👌👌
Greetings...from a fellow north Walian!!!
It's a great job, the explanation is very clear (even though I don't speak English). Do you think there might be an easier way to connect an expression pedal to the MS50?
The hack enables you to add all those sounds and choose what sounds you want, right? But does it update the firmware also? Thank you for the video and say Hello to Berlin from me! I love that city :-)
Hello back from Berlin. :) I think it's not an official update. It really just an easy organisation tool that gives you some additional effects to chose from.
Cuz like I need the stereo out but I also need fender amp emulation and also distortion options.
They are both stereo out. 70cdr has only a second (stereo) input on top of that.
Thank you Shoegazer! Anyone know of a good tape warble or vinyl simulation available in this set?
If kevin shields pedalboard was to compact in a single box
My mulit-stomp bass seems to have an issue with the CPU it barely runs two effects on the chain. I need to do an upgrade.
A question which does not have a direct relation with the video.
According to you would it be possible to load the frimware of the zoom g3 in the zoom b3 considering that they are identical machines?
I don't know much in the field
Great little video man, I do have a question.
In the video, Mr. 'anonymous hacker' :D mentions it working on the whole range of Zoom pedal units including G3X also (which I own), but I realised there is only a limited list of units selectable in the effects manager itself? Was this just a mistake? Thanks!
Hello, I bought this MS-70 zoom pedal. Is it OK to use this link to get more effects, or will it damage my pedal? Thanks a lot for your answer
I have the Zoom g3, do I just select (G1on) in the select stompbox drop-down? Or is this not possible for the G3 unit? Thanks:)
Loved the video! I was cracking up laughing the entire time. Great job!
Hey man! Thanks! I've been dreaming about it for years!!!
Thanks very much for the breakdown and demos! Btw I love your glasses
Thank you so much. It's been a pleasure making this video. And yeah, a friend of mine designed these glasses. I was very lucky to get these before the company closed.
This is so Cool😎Wow I wish I had that pedal. Your breaking new ground. Shoegaze!!!
This is brilliant! Thank you so much!
For the big muffs for bass, Green Russian is much more preferred than Bass Big Muff
Never tried it. Hopefully I can check it out at some point. Thanks for sharing.
@@berlinshoegazer You should! Not sure if the Green Russian Muff patches are available on Zoom pedals, but the pedal itself is great and inexpensive brand new🙂
Totally agree @Firdausidros. The Russian bubble font (Tym Guitars) version is the best.
Hi Shoegazer I bought th ms60b and reprogrammed as per this video... Now hat it requires to be switched on to effect the change. How do I switch it on or it will work when I plug it and play? It sounds dumb but I am new to zoom ms series... pls help.
Or you could get the JHS Muffaletta and get 5 or 6 different analog Big Muffs in one pedal
Can I do this on g1X Four? It's a good MFX but lack alot of effects that has on multistomp series.
1: Zoom is going to make a lot of sales of hardware now.
2: Use a virtual machine (or dedicated crapware machine) to download any software you are not 100% sure if is spyware/virus etc - a VM will still allow you to access USB devices.
3: Don't cry if your brick your device. :)
?
If you import one amp from zoom g5 do you get all the 20 cabs to choose from which are attached to all amps in the g5? Or you have to import all the amps to get all of them? Cab is a parameter to choose from amp and you can mix & match them as you like, but how it will work with this hack?
Do importing those effects erase all your previous effect ? As of last update, how many free effect slot the ms70 has if any?
Very cool, but can we get a demo of the effects on the zoom vs the real pedals?
It must be noted that my Zoom MS70 was at version 2.1 but the "hack" puts it back to version 2.0. And if I reapply version 2.1 I lose the new sounds. Also with version 2.0 the sounds created under version 2.1 do not sound so good.
My MS70CDR is version 2.1 as well and nothing happens when I try to rewrite the firmware this way. The effects I select don't show up, and the ones I deselect aren't deleted from the device. Any ideas? Odd that yours goes back to 2.0. That doesn't happen with mine.
hello great contribution but I do not play under the effects that I need "zoom A1x four"
but what a good hack I have the G1x four and G5 old
In theory it should work with all ZFX-IV chip zooms
In the G5 I would not use it because of the Z pedal and the bulb, you need to put how to return to normal
I wonder if this would work on the first G3 I have. It has the same ZFX4 CPU that the MS-70 CDR, MS50, G1on, ect......
can it be used for zoom G3n? I can't seem to find an option for zoom G3n :-(
So I can upload G1four efects to MS-70cdr or G1on (though they are not labbeled as G1Four effects) but I can't upload MS-70cdr efects to G1four slots?
The rhythm guitarist in my band showed me this video after knowing I have the CDR and I have to say now it's my favorite pedal!
Haha...I've never owned a Zoom product besides the H1N little digital recorder with the condenser mics built in. I used that to record shows with varying levels of success.
So what kind of limits are there as far as total effects inside, and how many per patch can you use? And lastly, how does it sound?
@@rickfeith6372
Does this effects manager also allow using the MS-70CDR time based FX on the MS-50G?
that’s amazing thank you .this video is awesome 😃
Hi! Great vid, thank you!
I have the 70-CDR version 2.1. I know it has a maximum of 50 patches, but do you know how many effects it can store simultaneously? Is there a limit?
Thanks in advance if you can help me!
Regards, S
Muchas gracias!!! Yo tengo el CDR 70 y con los efectos que he añadido tengo el pedal definitivo. Genial!!!
Tardo mucho crack
question .. are the analog effects (example: ba metal vs metalwrld) the same? I mean, do they sound the same? or they are different simulations. regards
Wow, interesting! Thanks. Might this work with a Zoom B3? I'm not computer literate.
Small update of zoom Effect Manager - 1.1.1,
updated versions of firmware:
now MS-50G - 3.1 MS-60B, MS-70CDR - 2.1
I just downloaded 1.1.0 ... 1.1.1 is better now?
I have the MS-50G
@@sha-to964 I have MG-50G too. As long as I know the new Manager 1.1.1 includes the pedals included with the firmware update 3.10 and those included in the upgraded version of the other pedals.
Now I can put for example without the hack the 7 band eq on my 50g?
@@bastianmaoro8278 Si, el Ba GEQ y st gt GEQ estos dos están disponibles por lo que encontré de 7 bandas, puedes buscarlo en google para que veas la imagen del pedal
@@sha-to964 Amigo y como lo busco
I had this pedal for almost 10 years and only today I learned about this magnificent hack. This turns my MS-60B from a Swiss Army knife to a one-tool-fizes-all. I feel just as overwhelmed as you did by all the possibilities.
🙏 I'm happy to hear that. :) On www.zoomeffectmanager.com you can find an updated version of this.
Do you actually have to update it or can you just leave it be?
Just leave it and it's still a great pedal. It's just for some additional sounds.
I have two G1Xon, one for pre pedals, then a tube amp (preamp), and then amp simulations and effects.
Thanks ! Just added some fx to my G1Xon which was already a great pedal.
Edit : I found out there is a downside to this hack/update:
Some fx can no longer be adjusted with the expression pedal on my G1Xon.
Before, I could, for instance, use the expression pedal to change the mix amount of the Particle Reverb, the delaytime of the Carbon Delay or the depth of the Super Chorus.
When I select the parameter I want to use with the expression pedal in the Patch Settings it says "None" for some pedals now after using the fx manager.
Anyone found a solution for this?
Having the extra fx is great but maybe I'll change back to the factory settings so I can use the expression pedal again like I did before.
Edit: I tried to change back to the G1Xon factory settings using the official Zoom 2020 updater from their site but it doesn’t work. It says " illegal device connected"
Found an older Zoom updater from 2016 (same version v1.21) on my old computer and that one works. Guess Zoom knows about the hack and updated their software to recognize it as an illegal device.
is this happening with all effects ?
So installing old version you can unstall last firmware again?
Thank you Sir. Out of gratitude, I am subscribed. Thank you
Hope it works on your pedal. Have fun and thanks for the sub!!!🙏
Amazing bro. It really works. Thank you very much!!!
Seems sweet. How many fx in total can you download to the 70cdr? Tha ks
Hi guys, is the 1.1.1 update still available? I'm not finding it online. If one of you guys could please paste a link or something for me, it'd be great! (:
ive successfully import new effects on my cdr70 but i cant see them inside the tonelib, but on the device itself i can see them...but theres no option also for amp cab sim, i need to scroll manually to see them..the thing for the tonelib is for easy method on patch making..anyone? thanks..
This is really freaking amazing. god bless the interwebz!
I put some MS60B amp sims on my MS50G and none of the existing Windows hack apps allows you to adjust the newly installed effects, so you must manually using the buttons select the new effects you install, but you can't see anything in the Windows apps except default effects. Oddly if you select them they show up as line thru. If you have a rogue effect inputed via firmware hack, it also won't show up as anything but line thru.
Hi again. From argentina. I hacked my zoom g1on with a lot effects from ms50g and ms70. Do you know if sound exactly the same my zoom g1on vs ms50g o ms70 using the same effect??? Thanks a lot.
New to recording world via my zoom G2.1n pedal to laptop, can anyone be kind enough to suggest a free audio recorder,I don't have a cubase license code so I can't use it,they won't send me a new 1 🙄
Just get a MS-50G. The mono input isn't really a disadvantage. People seem to think the MS-70CDR is for synths or more professional use but they are identical inside. They say the 70CDR has more CPU power but I haven't struck run out of CPU power in chains of 5 or 6 effects yet.
I did the update and failed.. is there any way to repair my bricked ms-70cdr??
I have Zoom G1xon and have been using this from past one year, unlimited power.
So it works on g1xon? Gotta try this
That display screen looks exactly like the settings display on the Zoom G1on and G1Xon.
All good products. 😎👍
Any love for the G2nu? It has the sturdiest build of all the G series pedals i've tried, would be cool if it were somewhat hackable.
I have the g1x four. I'm guessing this effects manager 1.1.0 does not work on it?
Anyone know if this "hack" could work with a g11. I have the g11 and it has tons of effects, but it does not have one that my g5 had. Seems to be the only one too. Duo-trem. Anyway. Just wondering if anyone tried this and if it works.
Hi!
Already posted that I like having the extra fx but I found out there is a downside to this hack/update:
Some fx can no longer be adjusted with the expression pedal on my G1Xon.
Before, I could, for instance, use the expression pedal to change the mix amount of the Particle Reverb, the delaytime of the Carbon Delay or the depth of the Super Chorus.

Having the extra fx is great but maybe I'll change back to the factory settings so I can use the expression pedal again like I did before.
Thank for sharing that. It's super good to know.
@@berlinshoegazer Update: I tried to change back to the G1Xon factory settings using the official Zoom 2020 updater from their site but it doesn’t work. It says " illegal device connected"

@@casenowie Hello ! Did you remove all *non-G1 Xon effects* with the Zoom Effect Manager before trying to update with Zoom 2020 updater ?
Hi there! Greeting from Panama and thanks for your 'hacked' video. It is so funny. I just got the Zoom MS-70CDR and did exactly what you did. I selected a few effects from the other pedals and so I got them into my unit. However, all of the original patches from my Zoom unit were erased! Fortunately, I got them back updating my firmware again (2.10 version). Is there any way to get other effects without erasing the original pedal patches? Thanks in advance for your reply. Best,
Good to know that you can get it back with firmware update. Thanks.
I wanna buy one, so with this "hack" doesnt matter if u have a 50g or a 70g right ? then which one to get ?
thanks for sharing this !
thank you very much sir. btw how can i remove some unwanted effects? i'm a beginner in zoom pedals
My pleasure. It works just the same way. You only select all the effects you like to use in the official effect manager or in the one from the video and write the effects on your zoom pedal afterwards.
Will I be able to add a metronome, drum beat with adjustable tempo or looper function?
Will this effect management program run on my 2015 MacBook Pro? 😬😬😬
Thanks for process, congrats! If we want to go back to the original firware to reset by default, is it possible to push back the Zoom firmware version 2.x to have the factory configuration?
Should be. Or even older firmware.
If only we could add the effects of MS-70CDR into zoom G3Xn man that would be so much more useable considering the bigger form factor
