Andy's next camping adventure, " lets sleep under a postage stamp and see how it holds up in a heavy rainstorm! " haha
😂😂😂
Well, I was right, unfortunately, sorry you had to pack out to the car but at least the car was watertight! You're definitely a trooper!!! All hail, King of the Intrepid Campers!!!
I’m sure the car gets plenty of use 😉
I imagine Andy has a plan in place to save up for 20,000 stamps and make a tent. Just because he can. He will try anything. Love the bloke
Hahahahaha😂!
I think you should do a video of taking all the gear home and how you clean, dry and repackage everything- and what do you do with all the gear you try out then have to store or dispose of? Cheers 😂
I wonder what his garage OR soon to be warehouse 😂 will look like if Andy continues to add to his arsenal of camping goods. Based on what we see, he can open a 2nd hand store to recoup some $ he’s spent over the years on equipment. He can also hold “outdoor classes” for people getting into this style of outdoor fun/life OR, possibly have short day trips for adults, parents/kids, etc., to introduce them to it and show them what they would need, hands on. They can use the equipment for the trip that day & have a hands on learning experience. I know speaking from experience, I do better & appreciate things more when I can personally interact with things myself. If you provide a tent & stove, sleeping items - basic amenities to get thru the night, there’s a better understanding & more knowledge for someone to totally understand what’s needed to get started.
Sorry to be long winded with this - just putting something out there that may be beneficial to some families, kids, parents or just people in general, like myself that need something more in their life to keep pushing through & forward. No matter the age we are, we ALL have a life ahead of us until our time is up! Until that time comes, we shouldn’t stop if we don’t have to & CAN continue to keep going. Sooooo many people give up towards the end of their life or after a bad encounter with life - medically, physically ,emotionally or even spiritually. I do understand & have been there and truthfully, still there somewhat. But at the end of each day, we need to STOP, just appreciate how lucky we really are to be alive, living this life rather than others in other parts of the world.
Take care everyone. God bless.
👊
Contractor bags hanging in a tree somewhere, two bags thick? Makes a adequate cache'. (No mice chewin' holes in your stuff.)
I'm curious as to how you wash hands and keep clean when handling things like raw meat.
The subs and views he has, he’ll just get the Butler to do it 😃
He won't do that as its all edited anyway
Wind, rain or snow , Andy always smiles 😃
He is special isn’t he?
And processes things…
I appreciate the poncho testing - the gumption to try this shelter in real rain is admirable! 👍🏽
And the best camp cook ever.
Quasimodo goes camping 🏕️. Looks a good material.
Andy’s next trick is to camp under a washing line with nothing but the line for shelter 😂 man I love how much he puts into these videos for us :)
We made poncho hooches in Vietnam. We made them flat instead of like your lean-to. Supported them on all four corners and tied off the head space and made that the center or ridge and tied that off overhead also. Most of the time it was okay. But when it rained hard we got wet like you did. So all us old vets can relate to your experience and discomfort Andy. Good video all the same! Thanks. 👍
Thanks for your service 🇺🇸
Yeah that would have been better yes👍 and also to have it LOW, but yes I'm still thinking with that SIZE "tarp" coverage is not good ENUFF.. He's a trooper though yes and I love his cooking "chef" abilities.. yes lol..
Oh yes thank you for your service.. I don't see my other reply, but I came back to say thank you.. God bless you and loved ones..
Great Video Andy, I'm starting my own channel inspired by individuals as you're self,
Whipple's Outdoors
I'll have my first video out in a couple of weeks, starting of with some new gear, inflatable tent, and will test it out for my first video.
Thanks for all you do, I've been watching your videos for a long time, don't stop, do more of the outdoor camp cooks, great stuff, keep it up my friend.
From Michigan, USA
I assume he would have been better off if he'd at least mounted the thing lower. Corporal's Corner has done something similar in the past and he always had it up against something solid, and way down low.
The world needs more Andy's in it.
💯 agree he's brilliant. I love his videos. 😂
🥰🥰🥰🥰
In basic training back in the day, although we were using two shelter halves together ,we placed a little dirt around the side edges of the tents, not the opening, then entrenched mini moats around each tent for water to runoff, where we would create a single trench connecting channel to the next tent’s moat, creating a series of “figure 8” Moats running down the slope of the hill, hopefully no water getting in the tents🎉
Alas, today's eco-community frowns on entrenching. But Andy has a dedicated woodland so other later visitors would not be disadvantaged.
I used the shelter halves too lol they were…not great.
Good shout that
@@jamesellsworth9673 They're far too worried about minor things. A small trench won't end the world or destroy the migratory patterns of the European flying sloth beetle. Respecting the environment is critical, but being a weirdo about it is just goofy.
You're supposed to dig a runoff moat trench mate! And that poncho ALL the way to the ground.... with a sand/log berm inside
Well, finally a video showing what camping is REALLY like! Now, this is what I am used to, whether I'm camping or not. Welcome to Murphy's Constitutional Law. Yes...Home, hose down the muddy stuff...take a hot shower...have food delivered...wrap up in your favorite blanket and put on your favorite movie. Also, rest in the knowledge that your fans here on CZcams appreciate you for putting up with rain, mud and lack of sleep, so we don't have to. Love you, Andy!!!
Love the natural sounds of raindrops, birds, the fire crackling…so relaxing!
"Its what its all about, trying new things". Camping under a postage stamp in the peeing rain, you are a superstar mate. After 11 nights away from home working, this is just the sort of tonic I need. Thanks!
Thanks for entertaining us while being so miserable in the woods Andy. You are the man. Much love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 ❤🎉😊
When on manoeuvres in the 1970s part of our kit was a cape that acted as a rain coat and shelter at night , not the most comfortable of nights no sleeping bags, just a blanket and your clothes. We cooked rations on a foldable stove heated by fire lighters bit slow but hot food was better than cold or nothing. Hope our servicemen fair better in today's world .
It looked like the Peter Sellers Hunchback disguise in The Pink Panther movies when
you were walking in with it on.
I knew it reminded me of something 😂😂😂
As much as I enjoy your videos, I have to say the enjoyment is at your expense. You are far braver than I! 😀
Living in Portland Oregon (US), we, like you, get our fair share of rain every year. And, I'd have to say, you'd never catch me out there without proper gear.
But that's why we love you and your videos! Great entertainment to say the least, keep'em coming!
You always have a smile no matter what Mother Nature throws at you. Way to go Andy.
Oh Andy, I did feel sorry for you watching this! How grim was that. Well done for trying it. Ive noticed you nearly always cook from scratch. Most of your recipes make my mouth water. But every episode i enjoy the peace of woodland and the birdsong. I noticed a pheasant constantly serenaded you. Usually so relaxing to watch you relax, but this time I just wanted to give you a hug!
Got to say never ever been into camping but this guy's got me hooked. Absolutely amazing. Love every video he does. Should have his own series on TV either terrestrial or netflix etc pure class 🎉
I used a poncho in the British Army back in the 80s , can't remember having that many drama's 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
same in the 90s ,but we had them much lower to the ground , i do not remember sitting upright under them so i could film myself.😜
With soaking wet 58 pattern webbing as a bonus😁.
We’re you trained to twist your gooseneck before tying it off?
Same here, pegged all 4 corners with 1 telescopic pole in the middle of one side, crawled in the bag, good night's sleep, mostly, if you buddied then you were in heaven, one poncho as ground sheet, yay.
I was going to say something about the tarp/poncho set-up.
Love that you can find food items that are common in the USA....when I visited London I could not find food I was used to eating
Great poncho shelter camp setup wind or rain Andy is always in great spirits and cheerful
I love bluebells in woodland like this, so beautiful and be great to wake up to assuming you are dry !
What we have here is a demonstration of why we build homes. I sit is dry warmth and watch you survive. Thanks ole man. Love your videos.
I have a Helikon Tex version of this poncho. Primarily its for keeping off the rain and works really well. In an emergency as a shelter, it should be ok but you're lucky if its rainproof in heavy rain. Rare to pitch it as you did in the military. Bottom line, in the field you made your poncho work for you depending on field conditions, but to expect you would be warm and dry after walking all day in the rain wearing the same poncho and try and pitch it in the field while the rain still comes down . That's another story. Then pack up and do it all again the next morning. Light a fire! Bless the boy.
You are such a a great guy to watch, this very old Girl Scout Leader and camper says that tarp will not be enough in a heavy rain, old shower curtains to the rescue in my day. The best times of my life was camping with friends when we were young. It always rained whenever I visited the UK, I did experience snow, rain and warm sun in one day there.
Great idea with the shower curtains. I could buy five or six shower curtains for a pound each and make a veritable mansion 😄
Nothing ever phases you Andy, the things u do for us subscribers lol. Thanks Maxx
Hello Andy, I have spotted you last week on Tumbridge Wells, you were riding an electric scooter towards the market area, I was in a white van and you give us the way. It was in the morning. Anyway I do love what you are dooing, you got my respect! I was dooing it while I was in the Army, now I can't anymore due to my life circumstances. Keep up the work and show this people the real outdoor life!
Cheers and have fun!
With the pack under the poncho the bells the bells came to mind😂
That kind of rain storm is miserable and I try my best to get the hell out of. My feet get wet and cold I’m done for. You are a real trooper Andy. Better luck next time!
We used similar items in the Australian Army they were called hoochies, the idea is to keep them as lower profile as possible front of yours is far to high rain gets straight in helpful tip keep it as low to ground as possible.
We just used a bivvy bag that's all we kept dry plus very quick to pack up but trick is to keep as low to ground as possible...
Andy is the best camping cook out there!
I agree with that for sure yes and have often wondered if he is a chef.. he definitely cooks like a great one..
Andrew, if there was ever an apocalypse I’m coming down from Scotland to find you..I know we would be safe 😊..in all seriousness you are a very talented outdoor guy and your meals look delish 😊xx
Always fighting the elements but giving us great content!
Great try . Rain just stinks unless properly prepared !
I look forward to your weekly videos
I love you man- i never met a man who could keep his cool and humor in adverse conditions like you, cheers mate. I would enjoy camping with you sometime and swapping cooking recipes, but don’t expect me to try the Experimental tent, I don’t want to sleep in the rain! I’ll even bring the beer!😂
He kept his cool and humour, when he capsized into a Norwegian fjord too…
I have spent 3 nights in a poncho pup tent (two ponchoes snapped together) but had to share with another soldier. It rained the last night and was miserable. The first two nights were fantastic either your feet or your head open to the stars! But night 3 was a soaking mess. Watching you suffer really took me back :D Thanks for the great videos 👍
I don’t know if you have kids but you give me such caring feel-safe dad vibes🥹
Yes. He is what us gals think of as big teddy bears and they are usually the best of Blokes there are in the world. They are usually the keepers.
Think about taking a heavy duty golf type umbrella 🌂 , straight handle , can be used as a walking pole, a tarp support , a wind break and of course to keep the rain off . A quintessential English camping aid 😏 .
Andy, brother please trust me.
Nothing you do is ever boring.
You could figure out a way to camp in a phone box and that would fascinate...
Of course, if it was the T.A.R.D.I.S., you would definitely have more room on the inside!😂
As always, great content, great presentation, and great vibes!
Cheers, good sir.
Stressful Living here in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 But Andy made my day so joyful and perfect. You are the man and Robin Hood in the woods 🪵 🎉❤😊
Beautiful cinematography. The framing, balance and use of light are masterful.
Andy you scored another winner. I always enjoy your videos whether it's a solo or with Simon. I've got to say, I couldn't enjoy it as much as you do in the rain with only a poncho as covering. You're a brave man, Andy!!
You can’t win every time Andy, thanks for sharing.
It might be tipping it down but youre still smiling ....what a nice view of the bluebell wood 😊
Can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve!
Bugs
Make a wood roof over the fire. When you have time and weatherpermiting place a Log wind block to the back of the shelter. Love your videos. Thank you for your time I creating these lovely videos.
I love watching your videos I'm not into camping but I find your videos very calming
Andy, you are too funny! Really enjoy you. I smile and 28:28 laugh with you; you seem to enjoy yourself no matter the conditions.👍🇺🇲🤣
I don't blame you for going to the car!! Loved the video! From Ohio in the united states!
Always a pleasure to watch your videos Andy - it fixes my mind after a busy day! Like others comment, I’m no camper but love your videos!😊
I've done this but much lower to the ground, just able to get under there, low profile. I put a run off trench around the edge, it doesn't harm nature and keep the rain out of your camp and if your on stag for 18 hours or so you need to keep warm and dry. You'll be fine.
i am looking forward to seeing more of the adventurous side of this channel, rain camping is great and it should be intermittent like the forecast itself. love it and stay thirsty!
'Soddenly' I am reminded of basic bushcraft and the raised bed. You demonstrated everything short of that and there still was water everywhere over that ground.
Nice to see a not so comfy night for a change. Keep up the good work Andy
That big inflatable hot tent sounds good to me ! 🎉😂❤✌️
I love it! You are a very positive guy, and even when things come up, you handle it with ease.
Andy, I just found your channel about 3 days ago. I’ve been “binging” to say the least! You have a great channel with great content. Subscribed after the 1st video watched, not even 10 min into it. Your style and calmness was very intriguing. I was hooked within the 1st five minutes. Thank you for your work & efforts.
I’ve been dealing with some mental instability challenges lately & you seem to help with dealing with some, along with some other content creators with similar content. I appreciate your dedication & thrive you have for what you do for these videos. I know it’s a LOT of hard work you must put in for each video with no “easy” way if you’re a 1-man show. Continue on and congrats on a great channel that seems to have a positive & upward swing! 1M subs is right around the corner my friend. I hope to see it soon for someone who definitely deserves it.
Thank you for helping me & setting my thoughts & mind in a better, much more happier place while watching & keeping video/content in mind throughout the day to keep me positive 🤜 🤛 ! Cheers 🍻 to many more from a new sub!
Tony - USA 🇺🇸
This brings back memories 😅 I remember someone not putting up an outer tent but just their poncho because it's the cool thing to do, and then the rain hits...helloooo, impromptu muddy pond instead of relatively dry sleeping spot 🤭
Well done Andy for standing it as long as you did, you try different outdoor things so we don't have to. Always entertaining thank you
your videos always cheer me up after exhausting days in the office. thank you so much.
I can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I find it very relaxing and the cooking looks absolutely amazing. I used to go camping a lot when I was younger with my father and brothers. I injured my leg badly a couple years ago and wouldn't be able to camp like you do so I'm camping vicariously through your videos. Thanks for all the hard work.
These are always SO lovely to watch, no matter the weather.
Makes me wanna get out there more myself now that spring is finally coming to Sweden 🌻
Hope the vid goes viral to make up for your discomfort. Carry on!
I love the sound of the rain in your videos andy this was a brilliant video mate thankyou
The things you get up to for our entertainment is really remarkable Andy. I for one do appreciate your efforts. Thanks.
Always so amazing with your good humour! I'd be sat on a pile of wood, wearing the poncho and sobbing like a wet rat 😂
😂 😂 😂
😂😂
Thanks for being a guinea pig letting us know that a poncho shelter is not good in the rain, before I tried it myself and got wet. Great video Andy!
Wow! You lasted longer out there than I could have! Hot shower, and some sleep will help! Thanks for another great video Andy!
It doesn't make any difference, if, your camping is a success or failure..I love watching your videos..Such a beautiful country side and forest..Thanks!🌹
Yeah scrolling trying to find something to watch and here pops up Andy awesome.
Andy Awesome 😂 that name might stick 😊
Great timing. I just sat down after a long day and seen this video. Perfect time to relax for five minutes.
You know its never 5 minutes with this channel... 2 hours and 4 videos later... 😂
@@nixm9093 🤣🤣sooooo true
@@nixm9093 you have a point 😅
You cant beat watching this snuggled up in a warm bed after a nice warm shower! Makes you appreciate it more
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
I enjoy what you’re doing. Been watching you for a while. I’m in Hawaii. Thank you for sharing.
Ditto, but from Tennessee
Can't wait to watch....c'mon Saturday!! Many cheers from the Prairies of Canada! 🍻🇨🇦⛺️
I love the honesty. Unlike so many channels.
Awww, bless you Andy, always willing to give things a try for all of us.
I'm glade you had the car close by at least. Thank you for the video, hope your feeling better young man. Take Care and keep smiling 😊😊
Another amazing video Andy cant wait to see what is next
I've been using exactly that Mil Tec poncho for about two years both just "as a poncho" and also as a tarp to sleep under. There is a quilted liner that goes with it that is well worth having if you're going to use it in colder weather
I've never seen you give up but there is always a 1st time props to you, your meals are always better than l eat at home. Love you❤
you always make my day every time i see you, your great keep it up I just love all your content, never stop please may the spirits be with you, my friend
Great review really enjoyed Thanks for all your hard work regards
Thank you , Andy .
🐺Loupis Canis .
I appreciate you Andy ❤ thanks for these videos
I love this channel so much.. I love all the new gadgets.. and I love how the wood always comes out perfect ❤
Great meal again, took notes.
A poncho is good for an emergency situation if you can find a dry spot to sit while waiting for rescue or the weather to clear.
Bone comment?
also if you don't set it up in a pit (which will fill with mud) it looked like you could have set it up a few feet away from where the fire was on a small rise instead of a depression used the terrain better instead of out in the open you would have solved all of those problems. you had plenty of cordage and a forest full of sticks and logs, you could have been way more comfortable, looks like user error.
Ex US Cavalry Scout. We used the poncho for a shelter with a body bag for a bivvie. We would set them up in a diamond setup. Two sides on the ground with the corner being the far end. Diagonal gives you more coverage. Point the ground end into the wind.
Always enjoy watching your content! Keep it coming!
I still enjoy watching you and always be safe
Anyone born in the UK needs to be provided one of these at birth lol
😂😂
Thank you Andy for persevering through difficulties and knowing when to throw in the towel! I'm sure that many of us living vicariously through you (I certainly am). My rough camping in the wild days are over...I need comfort 😂 But you are the man; and certainly earned those beers! GBY
no matter Andy - loved this video... such a peaceful vibe. thank you for your work
I think anything other than a hotel is a mistake in the rain but I'm a bit of a wimp.
Nono, that's just sensible 😂
5 pints later and i don't care if it's raining
Never heard of this concept but human ingenuity is amazing!
I went camping about a week ago ... first time since the 1970's(college) ... in a lean-to similar to yours, no rain, and about 60 degrees ... PERFECT!
Perfect, until I had to get up ... found it not easy at 74 with a twice fractured back and two hips that need replaced.
I was a surveyor for over 40 years, and hauling 25-30 pounds over might right shoulder gave me many memories of pain.
Then I tried a 6 person tend ... large, with no room to stand up and doors that forced me to crawl out ...
I want a tent I can "walk", into, and a bed I can fall out of ....
Otherwise the camping was fun ... and I was inspired by your videos ... thanks ...
always enjoy your videos.. this one especially,,, admire your persistence. great stuff
What I really like about your videos is that you don’t appear to hide the things that you don’t get right.
“I’ve done it the wrong way round!”
Or when you cut the pole in one of your other vids and then realised it was a mistake. It’s genuine and enjoyable to watch.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video Andy!
I have absolutely no desire to ever camp out in the woods by myself, ever.
But I can't stop watching your channel 😂
