As a young Nigerian boy in the early 90s, my dad was a management consultant whose work often made him travel across different African capital cities. After his first trip to Harare, he returned and started telling his friends that he rented a taxi to take him around Harare for a whole day. He was looking for potholes, and he found none. That got me intrigued as young teenager. I also had a neighbour that was an athlete that participated in the all African games in Harare in the 90s, and he reported that Harare was the most beautiful city in Africa back then. I am glad more people are discovering the beauty of this country via this platform.

@@paulinedavis8893 Do you know what though.....My daughters mother is from here in Ghana. What makes me so sad about the other half of their heritage is that I've now been here long enough to really get to know Ghana. I am in daily disbelief in the under-utilisation of the opportunity to grow here. The road system disappoints me before the state of the roads even does. If we in Zim had HALF the stability economically that is here, we would surely be sitting ahead of Rwanda. The town planning, the need to know someone for everything that there is a system in place for, the deep levels of organised corruption that makes ours in Zim seem like childs' play.......sigh.....in short what Ghana is, it shouldn't be, if Zimbabwe is a Yard stick. Finally.....when I finally visited the resting place for Kwame Nkruma........I CRIED at the state of the place. Wode Maya's work is much more important than just showing how dope Africa is....its in how its waking up people from this state of perpetual "okayness" with the way things are. Zimbabwe wasn't hidden....we just forgot how special we were. I know...because I was just back for a month trying to convince my brethren that we truly were a gem in a forest.....but we could become what everyone outside sees us as if we don't rise to the challenge of leading ourselves. I want to summarise like this: Zimbabwe's condition of infrustructure and development should be the lowest we ever allow an African country to be, so a country like Ghana (my brothers and sisters) let your roads surpass ours, let your buildings get completed without major litigation and cheating....even East Legon should surpass Borrowdale....we look up to you so much....but you are looking like a jobless 50year brother living in your parents house and who is difficult to respect. Ghana can really do it...your leaders need to be Wode Mayas biggest fan and watch what he is showing you...the man has no opinion...he is just giving us pictures and forcing us to decide what we want!

How you are treated by the community is something else, but you should appreciate what the government treats you. If America, China or France gives me a permit, I shouldn't expect them to like me. Just because you are mistreated by citizens doesn't mean you should blame the country. Be thankful that the government gave you a Permit or else leave and go somewhere.
