  • In this video i show the installation of a Classic Performance Products Disc brake conversion and power brake unit on a 1956 Ford F100. The front end went together nice. Seems like a nice quality kit. However the website had the wrong booster setup listed for the truck. Basically we ordered the right one according to the website, but it was for an earlier model truck. So with a little modification i made it work. Turned out nice and was a great improvement over the old drum/ manual master setup!

I have the same kit but with the correct booster bracket. I don' like the idea of having to replace the clutch linkage. Did you use the existing threaded rod to modify the the rod pedal assembly?
Should be a rod bent at two 45 degree angles to eliminate the clutch adapter kit. Thanks

Hey Jim, because of my bracket being wrong in the first place, i got away without having to do any modifications to the clutch linkage. I just mounted the booster off the frame basically like a generic under the floor brake assembly. I did use the linkage tube the kit provided to make my offset linkage, but i didn't have to do anything with the clutch

Thanks for the reply, I will use the purchased adaptor if I can get the old shaft out. If not, I will
just modify the booster linkage similar to the way you did the one in video. I
think the manufacture could have done an offset brake/booster linkage instead
of the extra priced adaptor kit. Thanks Again

@@rottersgarage Well after a while doing other projects I finally got my kit installed. Master cylinder and everything fit great except the new U bracket for the clutch linkage. Transmission mounting bracket had to have the mounting hole for the clutch linkage moved up about 5/8" and a new hole drilled and tapped for the 7/16"-20 pivot bolt. Perfect alignment after that, even got to replace the old clutch and brake shaft. Much easier than I thought it would be. My master cylinder booster is close to the exhaust too, not sure if it will be a problem or not. Next project is to install the remote master cylinder fill kit.
      Later, Jim
