At the end of the royal era in Iraq, specifically in 1956, the British company “Bay” came to participate in the British trade exhibition hosted by Baghdad. Among its exhibits was a black and white television broadcast system with a ready-made studio, which caught the attention of King Faisal II, who opened the exhibition, so he requested Purchase equipment from the company and install it on site Iraq State Television is the first Arabic television broadcast, and its first broadcast began in the summer of 1957. I would like to write a comment about my country, Iraq. I hope that the whole world knows that my country is very beautiful and it is the first of civilizations. I hope that all people will visit my country, Iraq.

When you visited the Al-Ahwa area, you certainly noticed the amount of reeds and papyrus found there. Unfortunately, until now, Iraq has not exploited these large quantities of reeds in making paper, and we are still importing paper. It is a wonderful investment. Iraqi and international paper companies must think about this.

When you ask for help in the Middle East, wether it is a person, a shopkeeper a taxi driver or anyone else. They will weigh in/think, wether to fill in, their this world savings account or their afterlife world savings account.
This is how people think in the Middle East and throughout the Muslim world.
Keep in mind, that NOT all Muslims, are practicing Muslims, but in general, the majority, if not ALL, will follow/practice, the 2 savings accounts rule.

Interesting to see you ashore in Basra , many moons ago I worked for United Arab Shipping Co and as an engineer on their ships we loaded and unloaded cargo all around the Persian Gulf including Basra and Khorramshahr, both on the Shat al Arab river at the top of the Gulf, I rarely had time to go ashore so very interesting to witness through you how these cities are today.

the infrastructure of the city is very bad and doesn’t fit with its oil revenues at all. So sad and depressiv!

The price of Nescafé Gold converted to Euros is €2,65 today. In Germany, the cheapest offer for the same instant coffee is €6,30. I don't know where exactly the stuff is produced, but I do feel I live in the wrong place now. 🥴
Maybe the sizes are different. The prices of imported goods are usually the same worldwide, although tax is a big thing in Europe, of course, plus more expensive rent, labor, insurance, etc. But once again, are you comparing two containers of the same size and type?
@@manaf.alfize Yupp. I guess the marketing departments selling them even are the same and its the same MBA peeps juggling out what the biggest margin they can squeeze out off their customers is, in other words where their customer's breaking point is.
@zweispurmopped Yes, pricing highly depends on the purchasing power of the country's people. There is no shame in trying to maximize profits, and it's a market competition after all, but I have noticed that the prices of most imported goods are quite the same worldwide. In Europe, the overhead costs of running a business are much higher than here in Iraq. Hence, higher prices.
@@manaf.alfize Of course you don't have the insane shop rents we have in Germany (yet). Nestlé, however, don't pay them either. The super market chains do. Still you pay the same for the coffee, both in the little village shop that has been property of the family operating it since 1949 and the superstores in rented premium real estates. I doubt all the reasoning hits the mark. It´s just good old maximising business results. Europeans just got made accustomed to part from their pennies at higher rates for such stuff. Nestlé didn't become a multi billion dollar business for their humanitarian approach to doing business. Moreover the biggest businesses have their armies of tax trained lawyers to find every last loophole for tax evasion on the planet. The citizens may pay higher taxes here, yes. The small businesses as well. The big conglomerates? Nah! 🤭
There was a documentary on German TV station Phoenix some 20 years ago which compared the taxes of two families. The one was a journalist of a local newspaper and a nurse with two children who lived in a rented flat somewhere in southern Germany, the other one was a real estate company owner and his wife who owned several big housing blocks and spent most of their time in their holiday home in Monaco enjoying their Ferraris and the posh yacht.
I guess you can tell where this is going through this simply being worth mentioning: Yes, the family of four paid more tax than the multi-millionaires.
If enterprises moan about tax loads in Germany they either have really bad tax advisors or lie.

Maybe I can point out some interesting/nice places for you, like other cool, much smaller waterfalls, wind shelters etc. If you are going there some time in the future. 🙂
