Just to let you know, there are two types of fuel in Iraq you can get
Cheap fuel (450 Dinar/Liter)
Improved fuel (900 Dinar/Liter)
Not all stations supply both types, and usually, they only supply the cheap one.
You could ask around for improved fuel by saying "مُحسن" sounding similar to: moh-hassen

Maybe a petrol issue with bike, but also could be a loose plug lead or bad spark plug not firing properly...then suddenly sparking into a now 'rich' mixture?? Nothing terminal though 👍👌

The fuel may not have quality. When you try to start, don't accelerate at the same time. If you accelerate with it off, you are flooding the carburetors, and when you start, it causes an explosion due to excess fuel. Good luck on your journey. Hugs from Portugal.

Yes, some stations have bad fuel, and street fuel is also bad. There is a type of fuel called Mohsen. Try to get tired of that fuel. It is good because you are a traveler. It will be better for you so that you do not cause problems on the road.

Maybe an ignition issue as the backfire is normally the ignition of unignited fuel so I would check things like ignition switch and sidestand switch, clutch.switch..spray WD40 or similar into the switches..
Water can get in everywhere and start causing issues.
Also check battery terminals for tightness.

Well said, as the fuel is likely weak, it may dirty the fuel circuit. As soon as you find a credible mechanic shop, stop to clean the filters and the ignition circuit. 🛵💪
If you suffer from a problem with bad fuel. There is a small filter placed outside the fuel tank that filters dirt from it. You can use it. It is available in abundance in Iraq, and it is easy to use and install. Ask your friends who own bikes about it.

I think your carburetors might have these very thin rubber membranes in the top. If there is a small hole in one of these membranes, it can cause difficult starting. But once running, it will run fine.

Christina, your motorcycle it’s just fine. Please pay attention to hiss key led. When is not lighting you may start the engine. If light is on: turn off the key and try again. Another way is to use the kill switch. On and off the kill switch and start button, should work. Is the same on all this transalp models. Good luck there and have fun!

Bra jobbat! Ingen kan kalla dig för en fegis 😊 När det gäller att Sarek är svårstartad kan det förutom bränslet bero på bränslepumpen om den börjar ha många mil och är lika tidiga modeller tom 2003 av Africa Twin. Det är nog enda svagheten på den cykeln. Det hjälper att ha mycket bränsle i tanken.
Det kan vara bra att ha en bränslepump i reserv och den är lätt att byta.
