    Very valid points. I always believed in having absolutely free speech- but just struck me that it can never come without a just society.

    Vimoh,
    I have been subscribed to your channel for some time now (following a friend's remmendation), but never felt an overwhelming urge to watch one of your videos so far, because it appeared to me that there were plenty of other, more thought-provoking videos to watch.
    However, this video, with its interesting and controversial title of 'Vir Das, Kangana Ranaut and free speech' caught my attention, and I decided to watch it.
    I must admit that I am very deeply impressed with your clarity of thought and expression, and will be following your posts more frequently henceforth. Thanks a lot !

    Exactly! The power structure plays a role in all of these conversations. FOS is only meaningful when viewed through that lens. FOS is meant to limit what those in power (the govt and those who support it) can do to shut down a private entity or citizen who are not in power.

    Good thoughts and a perspective I had not thought about.
    Another aspect I would like to highlight is intent, Kanaganas utterances come from an intent to glorify the current dispensation by literally diminishing the contributions of our forefathers including her own grandfather.
    Vir Das has brought about these issues in many of his shows, and he was especially aware of what the consequences will be.
    This should should be taken into account when trying to determine if anyone has been insulted or not.

    I have one question about Free Speach.
    Dont SC/ST act contradicts free speach ?
    dont come with reasons to justify like its bad , its not morally good
    The essence of free speach is to have 'free speach' regardless of right or wrong.

    • @yashsamuel
      @yashsamuel Před 2 měsíci

      harassment is never okay even in a free speech world , you are allowed to state your idea , view or opinion on them except in public view. Even with such laws crime like urinating on a Dalit man or insulting a CM with connotations related to him being a Adivasi on live tv are still a thing which Vimoh talked about so i hope this clears your doubt
