This was fun to watch. I wish we could get to see more of the competing teams of F class too. Enjoyed this episode very much. Jason is a great shooter and so are you Eric. Keep em coming.
Shot my first PRS match a few weeks ago. Had a lot fun and got to talk to some shooters that have been doing it a few years. Learned a so much. I did finish 2nd and I was shooting my 6.5 PRC hunting rifle.
Great time to be in Freer, as the rattlesnakes are in dens when it's cold. There are a lot of those rascals out there! Grandpa and grandma lived in George West, and we would go to Freer to visit other kinfolk. Awesome video. Thanks for bringing us along
Great vid! I usually have the same problem Jason brought up, first couple stages I'm kind of amped up which usually causes brain farts. Once I calm down and get in the groove then I'm good to go. Oh, and another thing I learned my last match of the season last year was the other thing he brought up, speed. I've always been going too slow. The "Don't worry about getting all your shots off worry about impacts". I sped up my last match and I didn't have time to mind F things to death. Get on stage, get on target, break the shot. Got way more impacts. (Imagine that. lol) This winter I added a crush it timer/dope card (from 5x5 precision) and that helps with time management a lot. I highly recommend it. Great shooting to the both of you.
Great video, I would suggest dialing parallax before the stage. Especially, if there’s only one distance and multiple positions. I saw Jason dialing parallax on the clock. It would certainly save some time.I hope y’all do more of these videos they’re awesome to watch. Jason did great on his first match.
Great watch! If you ain’t havin’ fun and enjoying the experience - whatever it is, do something else. Learning is doing. Repetition is doing. Again just a fun watch.
Somebody definitely should have said something to the kid trying to catch brass. Bumping into shooters, no eye pro, serious distraction… I know he was trying to be ‘helpful’, but it’s additional risk with no gain. The brass isn’t going anywhere. Great video though as always EC!
A friend of mine, former coworker, has a ranch and owns a pretty nice bar in Freer. I need to get down there and visit him one day. In S TX water freezes at 50 deg F. Guaranteed. Anything below that is like the North Slope... Wow... that was an interesting contest. I'm not one for contests but PRS looks fun
Good shooting, fun to watch. Those RO’s giving you wind calls on the clock…wish our club would allow that. We allow it for brand new shooters, but not experienced guys.
Jason should take a minute and watch you stage study videos. Those would improve his positional a lot💪 But like always, main thing is having fun and it looks like Jason is already enjoying the sport
What is your take on the Tactacam? I am thinking about running 2 cameras during training at the range, a tactacam and a camera to catch flags at point of trigger pull, along with s hot marker, To aid with wind reading. Thoughts? I love your work and keep up all the great efforts that you are pursuing.
Looks like a fun time. Didnt like to see $3000 scopes up against those steel stairs and small squares. Would be fun to see you run it again with a Ruger Predator in a Oryx chassis for the less financially fortunate. I saw a guy shoot .23# group with that setup. Sucks getting old, cant lay down fast like we used to 🤣. Ill bet those tacos were worth it though. Great video guys. 🌮🌮🌮
"No shame in it. Not for everyone. Donuts waiting for you, if you quit." Mr Cortina, did Jason come up in SF with Berkebile, or is that just a thing SF tells -everyone- going through training under them? I ask, because hearing that took me right back, 24 or 25 years ago to a mid-September morning in Fort Benning.
Do you like the khales? Was wondering if you have run a vortex razor hd and could compare? Love the razor HD. I heard good things about the khales and was curious.
Great job Jason, I remember my first competition shooting I think people in the parking lot could hear my knees knocking. You didn't shoot to your potential but no one does the first few times and very few ever do in a match, it gets in your blood if you like shooting there is nothing better. Watching the video it looked like sometimes you spent a lot of time aiming but very little to none following thru, might be something to think about as coming off the gun just a micro second too soon will cause a good shot to miss. Congrats and good luck!
@@ilikepiepls 😉You're too humble. I am curious what differences you noticed between “IRL” shooting and PRS shooting (positions, timing, effects of clothing etc, anything you noticed).
@@wilfdarr Time. I focused too much on time and it hindered me. Not in the aspect of going to fast but ensuring that I used all the time. It felt like it gave me time to make mistakes. One way live fire ranges are better than two way live fire ranges. Not having to shoot in body armor is freaking awesome. I can be comfortable and don’t have to suffer. 😂 Having great gear is awesome. Having to make do with inadequate gear sucks. But it also taught me how important the fundamentals are.
@@ilikepiepls That's interesting: there certainly is a middle ground there, and it's probably wise for you to stretch the time since your world was the other side of that, bracket the sweet spot as it were. Thanks for taking the time to share your insights. And thank you for your service.
Jason you are just like everyone else..Youre try very hard and you are nervous. Its just hiumam competative nature and you want to do good in front of Erik..Heck Im sure he was so nervous his 1st time he was talking Spanish and thinking English!!! Hahaha You did as good as any ones fisrt trip..You did good. I think the poroblem was that dang EC Tuner Brake..LOL Just teasing ERIK!! I love my EC Tuner Brake!
Great shooting for a first match. He kicked a$$ once he settled in. Jason could improve his reverse kneeling position better by wearing a single knee pad to remember to put his strong/support side knee up to make a triangle support (knee to elbow) and it will allow for a more solid support when in those mid height positions. Once you do it enough you can ditch the knee pad when not needed. Always enjoy your videos. Also, never turn facing an RO while moving on a stage with a firearm, muzzle was vertical but it would end poorly for the shooter in a lot of matches.
I think this is the most I ever seen Jason smile. It looked like fun.
Now you have to wait until you shoot 400 rounds before you clean the barrel.
Exactly. #wink
Nice job on your first match Jason. Better than most on their first one, including myself lol.
Always love your squad mates who will help collect brass. 😎👍
Dude trying to catch the brass would have drove me nuts.

I just got myself a 6.5 prc for long range paper punching. I like it so far congratulations on second place.

Nice shooting fellas. Good to see Jason relax as the match progressed.
Love the camaraderie that they are developing. Really good to see.
Nice video. People thinking about getting into PRS should watch this to see how it goes for a first timer. Good job Jason!
Good job Jason. Thanks for taking us along
22:35 having someone sit there collecting your brass while you are shooting would crap me soooo much!

Loved watching y’all shoot the match. When’s the next one? I’m in.
That was awesome, way too much fun 🇺🇸👍🏼
I learned so much my first PRS match. Time goes by quick!
Yes it does, amazing how fast it is!
15:45 mark, what a gentleman to pick up brass for shooters, that’s amazing !
Haha! Love Jason's attitude...... so laid back...
Well done Jason 🤘👍
Looks like a dang fun match.

Most fun you've had in those blue pants. Well done.

This was a very relaxed club match. Forecast called for 30° weather and raining, so a lot of shooters didn’t show up.

I've been debating what bipod to get. I believe the ladder stage just sold me on harris
Breezy. Tough shooting.
Never watched one of these matches outside of the Best Sniper at Bragg (not the same, similar feel). I'm eons more entertained than a 3 gun
very cool
Can you provide the dimensions of the bag, in centimetres and what it is filled with?
I couldn't shoot with the dude there catching brass! I know he was trying to help but it would freak me out!
Diesel Deer Ranch I assume... 😎👍
Good job bud . You have to start to be able to finish . You will do this .🧐
What are the sizes of most of the targets? The average?
Awesome, my ole stomping grounds..
